Lawry's The Prime Rib - ChicagoIconic gem!I had no idea that the name behind behind the spices also had a restaurant. This place has an amazing story and they back it up with quality. The food was delicious. We got the steak, but I wish we had ordered the prime rib. It looked like everyone was ordering that and loving it. I watched them cut the rib and they were gigantic cuts. Each entree came with salad, sweet bread and potatoes side so it's tons of food. We shared and loved. I also loved the uniforms for the staff. The prime rib is carved right at your table. This is a terrific place for that special occation. Lawry's loyalty program will make you want to return. They have two dining experiences - one on the formal dining room and another near the bar, the Ale & Sandwich Bar, which is open for lunch or dinner. You can order the same menu items at the bar area as in the formal dining room, but at the bar you can also order sandwiches, which are the best in town! I usually get the prime rib, which comes with salad, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding (puff pastry), and horseradish. You don't see waitresses and cook actually dressed in uniforms that are distinguishable. I was very impressed with the singing from the waitress as well. She has a beautiful voice. The food blew me out of the water. It was seasoned to perfection.

Of course we had the prime rib for dinner, who doesn't while in the capitol for prime rib. Our server was a delight, her name was Mary D. You cannot go wrong here.

Their specialty is prime rib, but I see they added rib eye steak to their menu. None of us ordered the rib eye, since we were there for the prime rib. The side dishes were delectable and the chocolate cake for dessert melts in your mouth. The wait staff was very attentive as well as management on the floor. The dinner starts with their famous spinning salad, a show in itself, then there is a selection of cuts of prime rib, from the smallest to the humongous. The food was excellent and service could not have been any better. The ladies even received a free jar of CC's hot fudge sauce as a Mother's Day gift, which made my wife very happy. My Mom (from S.C.) is so jealous that we will be going again in August when she comes to town.
One thing to note that is new to the menu are a couple of steak options (rib eye & filet), which will help satisfy those that (God forbid) don't care for prime rib.

The waitresses go by "Ms....." instead of first names, wear (I'm guessing) the same uniforms they've always worn, and the men walk around with their large meat carts. Our waitress explained what all the spices/sauces were on the table- and told us to use them (more of a demand than a suggestion, actually).
