The dinner starts with their famous spinning salad, a show in itself, then there is a selection of cuts of prime rib, from the smallest to the humongous. A wonderful experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!!!!!!Well, we spent another Mother's Day with my wife and MIL at Lawry's and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and service could not have been any better. The ladies even received a free jar of CC's hot fudge sauce as a Mother's Day gift, which made my wife very happy. My Mom (from S.C.) is so jealous that we will be going again in August when she comes to town.
One thing to note that is new to the menu are a couple of steak options (rib eye & filet), which will help satisfy those that (God forbid) don't care for prime rib.

The waitresses go by "Ms....." instead of first names, wear (I'm guessing) the same uniforms they've always worn, and the men walk around with their large meat carts. The food was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed every bite. Our waitress explained what all the spices/sauces were on the table- and told us to use them (more of a demand than a suggestion, actually). It would be hard to imagine a better piece of Prime Rib. My wife made particular comment about the Au Gratin potatoes; I had mashed potatoes with gravy, which sounds boring, but was anything but - it was high quality and very tasty. The deserts were memorable.
Our server was very professional, and always knew when to be friendly and when to allow us to converse undisturbed. The entire staff was attentive and courteous.
Last summer my wife and I had lunch at Lawry's for my birthday, and that was also outstanding.
Lawry's is a very traditional restaurant. You will not find innovative cuisine here, just the best of what they have served since the 1970's. They bring the salad to your table on ice, spin it and add dressing while spinning. The salad wasn't very good, very limited type of greens and way too much dressing. The prime rib carts come around to serve you table side. I chose the biggest prime rib medium well. The meat tasted okay. It wasn't that cold and it could have used a little more seasoning and it was under cooked, almost medium rare to rare towards the bone. I opted for the cream corn with my meal and the Yorkshire pudding. Both were good. I was too full to order a desert. It's a good place to enjoy dinner. Our server, Miss Rogers, was so courteous and professional. Two in our party had not yet dined at Lawry's and they were pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the prime rib oven coming to the table as well as the spinning salad, etc. One ordered the filet mignon, a new item on the menu, and said it was one of the best filets he has ever had. Miss Rogers surprised the birthday boy with a layered strawberry custard dessert, candle and all. Entire evening was wonderful.....what we always experience at this landmark institution!
