Diner Reviews
  • "Lawry's is simply the best place for prime rib, hands down! Service is always great, food is always outstanding. The creamed spinach is to die for. I always get a big enough cut to have leftovers and the leftovers are just as good. Love Lawry's!"

  • "Our 26th wedding anniversary could not have been more special thanks to Ms. Cody (our server), Daniel (our chef) and the rest of the folks at Lawry’s. Every part of the meal was a special treat, from the fresh, warm sourdough bread all the way to the final sip of cider (non-alcoholic, thank you very much) it was a wonder. We had the Prime Rib. I had no idea a cut like the Beef Bowl could be so tender and flavorful from side to side and end to end. My wife giggled because it looked to her like the Flintstone’s Bronto Ribs that tip over the car at the drive in. The Yorkshire Pudding was glorious as was the au’jus and the mashed potatoes. Simply a night to remember."

  • "Haven't been for a while and took out of town guests who wanted prime rib. It was excellent. Each of us got different cuts. Fabulous server, Miss Boren. Wine list is very good and very reasonable prices. If you want beef and good wine, this is it."

  • "The best thing about Lawry's Prime Rib is that you can always depend on scrumptious prime rib and excellent service. At dinner last week, after a few years away, we were very happy to find that those things have not changed one bit. However, we were surprised and disappointed in the total lapse of dress code at the restaurant. When making a reservation on line, there is a disclosure that no ripped jeans, tank tops or flip flops are allowed in the dining room. There doesn't appear to be a problem, however, with shorts (including daisy dukes), sneakers and sloppy T shirts which was what most of the diners were wearing. This is not the ambiance we expect or want for a meal that cost an average of $150.00 per person."

  • "We arrived early for our reservation (4:15) however were offered hord'ouvres while waiting. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The side dishes, and main course were exceptionally for both of us. The staff were attentive and friendly. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff acknowledged the occasion with a special desert which was delicious. What is truly unique was the selecting of the prime rib at the table."

  • "I was disappointed. The cut of prime rib I received was filled with gristle. I've been there a few times for dinner lectures sponsored by medical company when the cut of prime rib was good. I was really surprised to receive this cut with gristle. I found myself dissecting the gristle to look for edible meat. The service was good. The waiter and waitress were both friendly, cordial and helpful. However, I am not sure I'd come back or recommend this place for prime rib."

  • "I had reserved a table for my anniversary dinner, and requested a good table through OpenTable. But, we are forced to have a seat in front of entrance. They seem they didn't know my request at all."

  • "When I'm in the area, Lawry's is my usual go-to for a nice satisfying dinner without going over the top. The food is very good (I can only really speak for the prime rib vs. the other entrees) and the service is very attentive. I'm not sure if this is an issue with my memory or has always been the case here, but the one gripe I had from this visit is that I don't remember the knives provided for the entree being so dinky. It's essentially a butter knife with a moderately serrated blade. A thin metal handle (as opposed to wood) combined with a dull-ish blade lead to a lot of uncomfortable sawing. Otherwise, the experience was great as always!"

  • "This is a proven great dining experience of ours and has been for the last 45+ years. The food is always great and the service is as well."

  • "It's still my families go to destination for special dinners and has been for 50 years. The service and food are perfect every time. Reservations are honored. The meals are perfect and not available anywhere else. The staff is so well trained as to make all other restaurants bow their heads. Taken in its entirety the experience cannot be matched."

  • "This was my 4th and last visit to Lawrys. Food was tasteless. Could not cut the meat. Horrible food."

  • "I have been eating at LAWRYS Beverly Hills for more than 50 years. Whenever I am in LA I always make a reservation and eat there. However, last Saturday night will be the last time. Friendly waitress but terrible food. My California cut of prime rib was so fatty and grizzly. The sides that they push are overpriced....$9 for one scoop of sauteed spinach might have been acceptable if it was edible which it was not. The yorkshire pudding was probably the best part of the meal. I didn't complain because my guest was a first timer and I was embarrassed at the poor quality of the food at a restaurant that I recommended. The prices are steakhouse high and in the future I will dine at one of them and at least get my money's worth!"

  • " WE celebrated our anniversary at Lawry's. The food and service was fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and we had a wonderful evening! Our whole family celebrates Thanksgiving and other special times at Lawry's. The prime rib is always amazing as are the salad and side dishes. We've been fans of Lawry's in Beverly Hills and Las Vegas for over 60 years."

  • "We dine at Lawry's each year for my brother's birthday, which is why a non-meat eater ends up writing a review for a restaurant known for its meat. According to the 4 diners who had prime rib, it was good as usual. The one thing you can count on at Lawry's is consistency, food & service. We tried the fried onion strings which we hadn't ordered before - delicious. I had the salmon with the sauce on the side. It was tender and done nicely. The vegetables with it, however - carrots and snap peas - were either sitting under a heat lamp too long or had been frozen. I'm guessing the former. The person having the coconut banana pie for dessert said it was wonderful, coconut in the crust and not too sweet. An overall nice though pricey dinner."

  • "I have been eating at Lawry's for nearly 50 years. Little has changed with the exception of price. The prime rib is exceptional, the creamed spinach is wonderful and the coconut banana cream pie is a must. I love their salad as well. Not a big selection of other entrees so you need to love prime rib. Cocktails and wine are on the pricey side. And try the meatballs and homemade potato chips they serve while you wait for your table. This is a serious meat restaurant........a periodic overindulgence from a health and pocketbook standpoint!!"

  • "Tableside cuts of prime rib can't be beat. Seating us between two other parties- cozy, but workable. Challenging for a mature diner who's hearing might be a bit compromised, as happened with my dear dining partner..."

  • "We are steady customers at Lawry's, especially for family birthday celebrations. The prime rib is reliably delicious and tender, the side dishes are great and the salad always so good. We love Lawry's, dine there several times a year and have for years."

  • "I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO GO TO THIS LEGENDARY RESTAURANT, AND WAS HAPPY TO GO, AND HAD A GOOD TIME. THE PLACE NEEDS A MAJOR REMODELING AND UPDATING. HUGE ROOM WITH MODERATE NOISE LEVEL, TOO BRIGHT (LIGHTING) AND NOBACKGROUND MUSIC AT ALL. WAITRESS WEAR FUNBKY OUTDATED NURSE OUTFITS - REALLY NEEDS TO BE CHANGED."

  • "Have been going to Lawry's since the 1960's and it is always consistently a great meal and a fun time. Whenever a guest comes to L.A. from out of town or from another country, we take them to Lawry's and it never disappoints. Delicious spinning salad, excellent prime rib with that fabulous creamed corn and creamed spinach and a classic baked potato with the works. It's hard to save room for dessert but the C.C. Brown's hot fudge sundae is the best, as good as it ever was at the original C.C. Brown's in Hollywood. Best hot fudge sundae and one of the top three desserts anywhere in the world. We have travelled all over the world and have paid three times as much for a meal that was not even half as good."

  • "Lawry's is always a romantic place for those special occasions"

  • "The prime ribs were delish. Cream corn and spinach were not as good as should be. They charged $15 for split plate which is understandable if two adults shared but one plate was split with a child. Having no children's menu, it'd be considerate and courteous to waive but that didn't happen. We didn't ask but we shouldn't have to."

  • "Fantastic meal with great service. I had the Lawry's cut with all of the fixings plus the cream corn. It's my go to meal. Everything was great, even down to the trifle. It was extremely busy but our server and his team were attentive. We never had to ask for more water or anything else. I have been coming here since the 90's and will definitely be back!"

  • "If a huge piece of prime rib is on your taste buds, this is the place. Food is excellent, service is great with a " is there anything else you would like attitude". Good wine list but beware, having a great time here is not for bargain hunters."

  • "The valet was a bit slow that day, we waited 10 minutes on the street before we could even get in to the drive way. We got in told the hostess our reservation and we waited at the bar area until we were call. There are meat balls and fresh potato chips for you while you wait. We were seated 5 minutes later. Both me and boy friend got the prime rib dinner and I also order a lobster tail for him for his birthday. So dinner started with the signature spinning salad. I have always loved their salad ! I should buy their dressing one of these days. They also gave us a basket of warm sour dough bread. For prime rib, I chose the English cut and my bf chose the lawrys cut, came with mash potato and we ordered cream corn also. The food was amazing."

  • "We have been to Lawry's many times for dinner with friends and family. The excellent food never disappoints and servers/staff are always friendly and accommodating. You get exactly what you expect which is great food. Do not go expecting a great view or romantic ambiance, this is an iconic restaurant with the best prime rib around! Make sure you leave room for the hot fudge sundae and if I could suggest...please keep your faded t-shirts and worn out shorts in the drawer at home. Put on a decent shirt and pair of pants and enjoy your dinner."
