  • "All three of the guest had a problem with the prime rib. One was sent back as it was ordered as a "Lawry's Cut" and came as two very very thin slices attached to a huge meatless bone, very stringy and hard to cut. The other two "Lawry's Cuts" were very thin also with five or six of the ten ounce portion in the again meatless bone. Usually we can not finish the "Lawry's Cut" but this time it was not a problem. Is Lawry's cutting back on meat portions and feeding guest a weighty bone? The service and other aspects of Lawry's was still outstanding."

  • "When we first walked in, the front hostess was very nice and courteous. We made RSVP for 730pm and got seated around 740pm. We love the inside décor. Food was good. Service was a little slow, I think it's because it was DineLA week. We didn't get our waters until we asked for it twice, but our drinks that we ordered came out right away by another server. I don't know if the server (bust boy) that brought us our waters was having a bad night but he was not the nicest and had a little attitude when I asked him if I can take home the au jus sauce. However, the valet service is quick compare to other places that I've been to. Overall experience was okay. 3 Stars!"

  • "This dinner was planned specifically as coaches memory "the special occasion best prime rib experience you could hope for as a kid". I agreed and for the past 6 yrs. we spoke about our Lawry's date but it never was calendared. Now one son in college and my last a senior, it seemed the right time. In honor of all the coaching hours, emotion and sacrifice this coach gives we offered he invite 10 friends to celebrate! Many had spoken and hoped to take a few minutes to tell him intimately but table wide how valuable and cherished our Coach Hess is to each of us. The food was amazing, the salad spin missed in the busy room, the yorkshire pudding arrived after the meats were served but that was fine, it was just a bit noisy, the room was packed!"

  • "Went to Lawry's for restaurant week, and it was the busiest I've ever seen it at 6pm. There were tons of people waiting for tables--thank goodness we had a reservation. Major con--$6 for valet parking?? Ridiculous for a nice restaurant. Another big con was the heat--the air conditioner really couldn't keep up with the number of people. I know it's an older place, but that kind of stuff can be fixed. Their sourdough bread, spinning bowl salad, and prime rib are amazing, but mashed potatoes and other side are just ok. Desserts also didn't blow me away. Your money would be better spent elsewhere I think."

  • "Because this was restaurant week, and they have the prime rib & lobster tail prix fix special, the whole family, the kids and the grandparents, who have never been there before, decided to have an early Saturday dinner at 5pm. Actually, the reservation was for 5pm or later at 9pm. Everyone loved the service of a Ms. Roe, who made everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Since one of my two sons 11th birthday was coming up in a week, we told Ms. Roe the occasion was for an early birthday. She and the waiter came out to sing, which made my son's day! For an early celebration! The grand parents were impressed. The prime rib was great, consistent, and carved to perfection as requested as usual!"

  • "Service was great & food was scrumptious. My only complaint, and I should have known better, was that I was not told that the creamed spinach and corn cost extra. When you do DineLA, you assume every part of the main meal to be part of the DineLA deal. The waiter should have clearly explained what sides came with the meal and what was extra. When asked if I wanted the spinach or the corn as my prime rib was being carved for me, I assumed it was inclusive by the way the question was asked. Also when I asked if I could substitute my dessert for a hot fudge sundae, I was told the ice cream could be substituted but the hot fudge would be extra. That is tacky since my 2 friends and I had already spent $70 per person (before tax and tip)."

  • "Atmosphere was great - dim lighting, decorations, and furniture. I really liked that the meatballs and chips were served to the guess in the waiting room - both of which were very delicious. Started off the meal with warm bread and butter - I love bread and the bread was just perfect. Had the 8 ounce DineLA special with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach on the side - creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were very rich. I really liked the bread that came with the meal - it was very buttery and flaky. Dessert did not disappoint I was able to try the English trifle and the chocolate pudding. Chocolate pudding in particular was super chocolatey - exploding with coco flavor. Excellent service, great food - will definitely return."

  • "We were a party of 6 with reservations for 7:00 PM. We arrived at 6:45 PM and as we waited for our table we enjoyed nibling on small meatballs and home made potatoe chips. We were seated exactly at 7:00. Having dinner at Lawry's always reminds me of dining back in the day when life was less hassled. The service is attentive but not intrusive. As usual the prime rib was superb and served from those fabulous carts where it is carved to your personal specifications. We love the creamed spinach, spinning salad, hot sourdough bread, creamy horse radish, desert, etc., etc. Lawry's definitely lives up to it's reputation as the best prime rib house on the planet."

My lobster was cold, my friends coffee was lukewarm, her mixed drink was watered down, my friends green beans were lukewarm.   • "We had 8:30 reservations, and when we walked in and got to the receptionist, there seemed many waiting for a table. When I identified myself she found our reservation. I asked if they were on schedule. She said they were pretty close. We found a seat in a side room where they offered appetizers, and before we could finish them, our table was ready. The server was wonderful and very attentive."

  • "first of all, we showed up a half hour early (thought i had changed the reservation on open table, but obviously never got through to the restaurant)....the place was jammed but the maitre d still did her best to seat us early....and did. our server, like all of them, was friendly, helpful and warm....and the food, as always with lawry's was great....of course it's a beef factory, but you don't mind cause you're in it with everyone else....i wouldn't want to have the salmon concession....all four of us had a great time....not inexpensive, but fairly priced."

Service was excellent in the beginning and then after our food arrived, our waitress kind of disappeared. My chair was bumped about 3 times by the waitresses with salad carts. We still enjoyed our dinner date."

Shorts, T-shirts and tennis shoes totally destroyed the elegance of this once magnificent restaurant. I hope that something can be done to restore Lawry's pride and glory!"

  • "Lastly is an experience, the whole feel and service is from another time where they take care of the customer. Overall great food and service. For the food I would recommend going a little more rare than you normally, I usually go medium but I think the medium rare would have been perfect for me. I have had most of the sides and they are all great. The only bad thing and it wasn't that bad was we were seated at a middle table and I would have rather had a booth, I saw other couples seated at a couple booths after we were seated so they were available."

  • "Our friends had never been to Lawry's so we decided to introduce them during Dine LA. We all had a great time and loved the food. We ordered the 8 oz prime rib with the lobster tail which came with the famous spinning salad, mashed potatoes with au jus, Yorkshire pudding and choice of dessert. Sides were extra yet I had to order the creamed spinach. A pleasant surprise was the trifle...I decided to give it a try seeing as the ice cream sundae was not a Dine LA choice this time. Well I managed two bites before my husband devoured the rest. We all had such a great time and will definitely be back"
