I treated him to Lawrys as one of his Father's Day gifts. The whole point of celebrating Father's Day early was to beat the actual Father's Day crowd on Sunday, June 16 and it worked. Lawrys was crowded that evening, however, not like it could have been. Our reservation was for 8:30pm and we arrived at 8:10pm. Being seated didn't take long, However their were groups of people waiting to be seated. My boyfriend had a drink at the bar and the ambience was so serene. The bar was very classy, nothing like a bar at a club. When were seated we were impressed by the lay out of Lawrys, the chandeliers and the vaulted ceilings. Definitely the best prime rib on the west coast and this restaurant is the original. The entire concept is perfect because you get exactly what you want, how you want it, served from their specially designed carts right at your table. The creamed corn and creamed spinach combined with mashed potatoes and gravy make for a very "abundant" meal (did I forget to mention the yorkshire pudding and the spinning salad also prepared at your table?) There were 9 of us and we had our meat cooked rare, medium and well done and each of us found our meat quite fatty. The salmon was an absolute surprise....well prepared in a wonderfully subtle teriyaki sauce, with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. Add a bit of the raw horseradish and the salmon was better than most seafood restaurants would serve. My friends all ordered the prime rib and they all enjoyed it. The service was excellent.
