This was my first visit and it was
very good. Service great, food different but good. Was not aware of the outdoor dining upstairs, would definately like to return to enjoy the patio dining. Was nice too that you could get a reservation."

Loved it! The food, service and
atmosphere was great. We'll definitely be back."
Dined on 4/11/2014
The menu is in between winter and
spring. It should be fun later on from spring to summer."
Dined on 4/10/2014
From the bad service to the bad
food. It was all very unpleasant. We had tickets to a show and allowed 1 and a half hours to eat before we had to leave to make the show. Let's just say we missed the first fifteen minutes of the show."
Dined on 4/5/2014
Upon first glance, the menu was
almost daunting. Made up primarily of 'comfort foods' it wasn't until you read the fine print that you realized the interesting choice of ingredients. We started with fried green tomato caprese and lamb goetta. Both were absolutely fabulous. Our main courses sounded pedestrian -- turkey meat loaf and a reuben -- but were anything but. If there is a complaint it would be that the food was so rich that we had a hard time finishing. But we managed to squeeze in a sublime chocolate mouse artfully presented in a coffee cup. Kudos to a great manager and chef. Our service was exceptional and the meal was interesting. This would be a great place for people who are interested in pushing the edges."

Having only been to Lavomatic for
brunch, I can't speak to the wine bar angle, but it's a great spot for a Sunday brunch! Casual and friendly, yet full of energy. Don't miss the thick sliced peppered bacon (unless you are a vegetarian, of course) -- it's delicious!"

Loved the small interior (we ate
on the first floor) and the burst of big flavor from the kitchen. Had the crab cake sandwich. It was delicious. My husband ordered a side of sweet potatoe tater tots - HEAVEN!! They were rolled in spices and had a maple sauce to dip in. My side of regular fries were not regular at all. Soaked in a cider brine for 2 days then rolled in fresh herbs and cooked. Really good. Didn't have enough room for dessert. That will be next time"

What a fantastic place! We love
the restaurants in OTR on Vine, and this one definitely fit the bill! We loved the food - we ordered the fried green tomato caprese salad, the hamburger, and the biscuits and gravy. And, the service was top notch! We definitely recommend this place highly!"
Dined on 3/15/2014
New chef and new menu, but still
tastes fresh and delicious. Nice staff and top-quality service."
Dined on 3/19/2014
My granddaughter and I loved the
eclectic menu that had something for everyone. She is a vegetarian and found at least 10 dishes that not only sounded good but were presented beautifully and tasted delicious. We went back to the restaurant a second time for dinner because we couldn't taste everything the first night. Definitely recommend the grilled hummus, sauteed greens and avocado spread. The chocolate dessert was fabulous! A fun assortment of drinks..."

I am on a very restrictive diet--
no grain and no dairy. I was able to kind of find something that worked for me--the stuffed trout. I couldn't eat the rice stuff, but everything else was on my diet. Very tasty. I probably could have requested a substitute for the rice, didnt' think of it."
Dined on 3/15/2014
Great food, portions a little
small on the entrees for someone who is really hungry. Dessert was amazing!"
Dined on 3/8/2014
Enjoyed a great brunch with
friends on Sunday. Only downside was I wanted to order the biscuits and gravy but they were no longer serving it so I had the fried chicken and polenta. Definitely make a reservation if you go. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived."
Dined on 3/9/2014
This is one of the only
restaurants in OTR that takes reservations. The food was good and beer selection was excellent. Only complaint we had was the cold draft when ever the front door opened, but you could have that any where."
Dined on 2/28/2014
The service was super, they have a
nice selection of food .....but it was the fish tacos that brought us back for more and they are no longer on the menu. This is a mistake that needs correction! My only issue with ambience was the temperature. It was cold outside, we were near the door. every time the door opened there was a gust of cold air. If not for that i woud have rated ambience 4 stars."
Dined on 2/23/2014
The food overall is not too bad,
its boarding on pub food. There are some good selections that you wont see at too many places. It has some good seating upstairs - sit outside and downstairs so its fun in the summer. The problem is its very loud, you have to shout at each other to talk. I can see it being OK for a younger crowd but I wont go back just because of the noise."

We had brunch with friends on
Sunday morning and all four of us were "wowed" by the place! So fun and eclectic. Wonderful food, efficient and friendly service -- a great addition to Over-the-Rhine. Already looking forward to a return visit!"
Dined on 2/16/2014
Food and service are great. A fun
restaurant in a revitalized area of Cincinnati. Crowd is young and vibrant. An anchor for continued redevelopment and downtown growth."
Dined on 2/15/2014
We went for V day, and were
pleased to find a res with 1 day's notice. We were seated in the upper floor, which was nice, because it was quieter there. It didn't affect how often our server came by, she was very attentive. Service was good, food was good, but the menu made me wonder about combining all the 'new fangled american' style foods. Buffalo burger was slightly more done (I asked for medium, and got medium well). They forgot my sub for the fries, and it did take a while to get the tater tots up (in cheese sauce, pretty good, but more like 'hush puppies' than tater tots). The happy hour discount on the drink was forgotten, but quickly remedied as the server and I realized it at the same time. All in all, a good experience."

My wife and I went to lavomatic on
valentines days, and we were extremely surprised with how delicious everything was. We had the filet & the lamb rack - both were cooked perfectly. The soup and salad was delicious, and our service was impeccable. Rarely do we leave reviews, but felt this time it was needed. Little things, like when I dropped my knife, and the hostess noticed, and brought me a new one. The owner came out and discussed the artwork with us, and we learned more about the history of the building from the waitress. Can't say enough about this place...it was great."

Wanting to explore more of vine
street restraunts,I found a coupon on amazon,40.00 dollars for food.We where heading for music hall for the beeatles "concert". We sat next to some lovley people who would be selling candy there. Music from the beatles started flowing, our waitrees,Amanda?(she had an earing in her nose)was not only charming but very attentive,we loved her!The food was good, but the seating is rather close if you want privacy."
Dined on 2/9/2014
Food was very good...loved all the
vegetable choices! Interesting menu with lots of variety."
Dined on 2/8/2014
I would definitely dine there
again. Food was very good and atmosphere also. Service was outstanding."
Dined on 2/8/2014
The food was expertly prepared,
locally sourced, and incredibly tasty. I would put this meal on my top five of the past year. We were seated promptly and service was exceptional. My friend was complimentary of the wine list, I was impressed by the expertly curated beer list. I will be back anytime I need to meet friends in Cincinatti."
Dined on 2/8/2014
The food was very good but the
service left a lot to be desired."
Dined on 1/31/2014
Atmosphere and service were good,
but the quality of the food lagged far behind its competitors on Vine St such as Senate, Bakersfield or Taste of Belgium."
Dined on 2/1/2014
Not your average menu, but was
delicious and fun trying something new! Atmosphere was nice as it wasn't super quiet. Will definitely be back!"
Dined on 1/24/2014
My wife and I follow a vegan diet
and lavomatic has some awesome options. The squash torte is amazing and the vegetarian plate is also incredible. The mix of flavors were delicious"
Dined on 1/25/2014
Food was OK, but nothing really
grabs you. While not terribly expensive (~$20 an entree), I am sure we could get more for the dollar. I'd stick to the appetizer and burger - Lavomatic doesn't seem able to really pull off the bigger plates."
Dined on 1/24/2014
We were fortunate to snag
reservations for 6 on a busy Sat. nite. Appreciated being seated upstairs where the din is a bit better. We are not "old" people, but asked that they music be turned down because the speaker was above our heads. I think it is in the best interest of the restaurant to ask or pick up on the tables that want to have conversation & not have to shout to be heard. The food choices are not many but the brevity of the menu is well intentioned. All of us ordered something different -- including lamb , filet, fried rice, & meatloaf. They came out piping hot & with adequate accompaniments. Appetizers we tried were some of the best zucchini fritters & polenta ever tasted by our foodie guests from Chicago."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Why wait hours at ToB, this brunch
is fantastic, with creative delicious dishes. I'll be honest, their dinner is just ok, a fine "second choice" if you don't want to wait at the busier, better neighbor restaurants. However, their brunch is spot on, and reservations make it even easier."
Dined on 1/19/2014
from a seat near the front windows
it was a nice experience - tables are close enough that your neighbors will share your conversation and visa/versa - food was imaginatively named and amazingly delicious - want to go back and try the meatloaf and many other things, enjoyed a brunch cocktail (Hibiscus 75 - Gin & Champaign ++) too which rocked, and later a cup of coffee that was delicious ...across the street is the new Rookwood Pottery store. Many other small cool places to visit on a neighborhood walk about including some galleries - there are now parking garages nearby for the public so that is a nice alternative to driving around looking for an empty spot on crowded streets - recommend do that"
Dined on 1/12/2014
The menu was interesting with some
creative dishes. The food was plentiful and reasonable but uneven in quality on the night we were there. The noise level made conversation for two across a table somewhat strained at best. Service by both our server and the manager was outstanding. This a better place for a group to dine than a couple."
Dined on 1/3/2014
Food was wonderful as usual. the
service was good. I love the option of the small plate."
Dined on 1/3/2014
A friend suggested this place and
it was fun. Got the meatloaf and curry fries and sweet potato tartlet - really good. their new old fashion was really good too !"
Dined on 12/27/2013
My wife & I and another couple had
our "going away" dinner there on our last night in Cincinnati. We had a great time, the food was excellent, no drinks except tea and soda and we spent an enjoyable couple of hours just relaxing and talking. The Bison burger, salmon and Petit filet were all excellent. The service was quick and friendly, atmosphere was great. A wonderful evening to remember."
Dined on 12/26/2013
My fiancee and I went here for our
anniversary and were greeted with champagne and a warm welcome. We had a cozy table on the second floor and enjoyed a lovely meal. Everything that we ordered was delicious and the menu offered a wide variety of food, without being overwhelming in choices. The second floor is a nice place for a little more privacy or a more intimate dinner. I have eaten here several times before and am always pleased with the food and the service. Also, during warm weather, their outdoor rooftop patio is a nice treat!"
Dined on 11/23/2013
Couldn't have been happier with
our dining experience! Service was quick, friendly and knowledgable. The food was outstanding! I ordered the special half rack of ribs with a side order of tater tots my husband ordered the meatloaf which was one of the most delicious things I've ever ate. Don't miss out make a reservation and visit lavomatic!"
Dined on 12/22/2013
My family of four dined here for
lunch before an Ensemble Theatre matinee performance. Server was very helpful and attentive. Able to adjust dish ingredients for my peanut allergy. Food was excellent. All four plates were clean by end of meal. Only (slight) disappointment was that they were out of the recommended dessert, which sounded really delicious! We will be returning!"
Dined on 12/21/2013
Lavomatic used to be one of my
favorite restaurants not only in OTR, but in the city. Their new menu is odd and less than desirable. The service was very slow and the server couldn't answer basic questions regarding the new menu."
