Diner Reviews
  • "The dinner was nice to celebrate a friend's BD. Tournedos was excellent, as well as Ahi Tuna and Salmon. But one of us had ordered a Poulet Roti which was very disappointing, taste was bland, it may need a little more kick with some spices or herbs. It isn't worth to pay for a passable dish in a fancy restaurant. Chef needs to look for some improvement on this dish."

  • "My husband and I dined on a Tuesday night, when they had live music. And by live music, I mean very Parisian guitar circa 1930. It was amazing. We both ordered duck entrees, which were both excellent. We noticed that most of the clientele were regulars, and the experience was casual and comfortable. The wait staff was very friendly. If your looking for great French food with a friendly ambiance, this restaurant is perfect."

  • "Pascal Conti is the consummate host. Patrick entertains on guitar and the food is, always great. Paged of great French wines to choose from and memorable desserts are the norm. After dinner port was a real treat."

  • "We went to Lanendou for afternoon tea to celebrate my friend's graduation. I made reservations for 7 which changed three times and ended up being 10. They were able to accommodate us and the service was great. The scones were amazing and the house tea was very flavorful."

  • "Apparently it was a very busy Saturday night in the kitchen. Our entrees finally arrived almost an hour after our appetizers were delivered and consumed with one of our steaks overcooked to almost well done from the desired medium rare. The other steak was cooked to medium from medium rare but was not sent back. The first steak was redone and delivered perfectly but not until the other three in our party had completed their meals. That being said the food was outstanding, our server presented free wine for our trouble, and removed the corking fee on the wine we brought. This was more than adequate for the kitchen service issues. We stayed for some outstanding desserts and look forward to visiting again."

  • "Enjoyed another fabulous evening at Lavendou. The food is always excellent and the service is outstanding. If you haven't tried this restaurant then you are missing out on an enjoyable evening with a wonderful menu with many superb choices. You won't be disappointed."

  • "We've been to this restaurant twice; once for dinner and once for lunch. It was outstanding both times. We came here for an anniversary dinner and it was superb. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the wines, and the food recommendations were spot on. We came here with a large party for lunch, and we were impressed again. The service is a little slower, but it's because they make everything to order. For example, they don't bake the dessert tarts until you order them. The wait is worth it! The restaurant is small and cozy. Both times that we were here, there were actual French-speaking people eating here. I think that's an endorsement in itself. This is not a place for a quick bite, so make sure you allow a little extra time."

  • "It takes alot less time to get to than some where in France unless time does not matter. What an outstanding place to eat right here."

  • "We had a lovely dinner out at Lavendou as always. Food was outstanding and we enjoyed some old favorites off the menu. Some evening I might have a dessert other than a souffle. Service was a little inattentive compared to usual standard, but not enough to complain about. I saw a recent review complaining about difficulty changing tables and want to point out that I cannot remember any restaurant I booked on Open Table failing to comply with any special request I made through the site."

  • "How delightfully French was our waiter! How attentive was the Support Staff! How delicious was the food that was served! All of these elements came together in our delightful dining experience at Lavendeau Bistro! My husband and I were treated to a lovely evening and we appreciated that. The ambience was just right and the staff all together were just right! Thank you!"

  • "When Lavendou lost its excellent chef a few years ago, the replacement chef could not match the menu. But now all that has changed and the food is excellent. Attractive room, even though a bit crouded. And when it fills up, and most nights are pretty full, it gets noisy."

  • "Dinner was excellent. Dessert was the best. A few too many tables in a small space. Noise level was high. Service was very good."

  • "Great food, good wine list, good service, cute and cozy french ambiance. I've been there for lunch and dinner. Both are great."

  • "We dined here last Friday evening and everything was perfect from the wine, Caesar salad, Cauliflower soup, filet of sole with a wonderful sauce that was served with fresh asparagus and delicious rice, not to mention the hot French bread. We didn't have room for dessert, but plan to return soon to try the different excellent choices from apple tart with vanilla ice cream, profiteroles, creme brulee just to mention a few. Lavendou never disappoints us and is our favorite restaurant in Dallas."

  • "We love this restaurant and frequent it often. The food is always good, the menu changes to fit the seasons and the all the folks that work there always aim to please. We enjoy their light French food, seafood and delicious house made desserts. The place is always packed on the weekends so reservations are suggested. "

  • "I went with my girlfriend, we asked the waiter to change the table he picked for us, he got so upset and gave us attitude all night. However, the owner is a very nice guy. The food was average and overpriced. I could not find anything special about the place that will make me go back. "

  • "My girlfriend and I had the most amazing experience at Lavendou Bistro. The food was incredible. We had the mussels appetizer, the sole entree, and the grand marnier soufflé. It was all phenomenal. We had the patio to ourselves on a Thursday at 9 pm. "

  • "We had a lovely lunch. Intimate setting. Great service. Excellent food, although the baked chicken was a little dry. We had chocolate mousse for dessert. It was dark, delicious, and very rich. We will definitely return to Lavendou. It's one of our favorites."

  • "My husband and I recently entertained family members at Lavendou Bistro and we were very pleased with the food and the service. Even though the restaurant was very busy we were not rushed and we were able to enjoy seeing our children and conversing with them. The food was delicious and the souffles for dessert were great. A great evening was had by all."

  • "I always go to Lavendou for my birthday every year. It is not near my house but it is the one place I will drive miles for. The food is always perfect and the people who work here really seem to care that you have an enjoyable time. It is wonderful!"

  • "We visited Lavendou for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays. We decided to try something new and heard wonderful things about this neighborhood gem. The food was delicious, the service was authentic, and for being right off Preston Road, you really felt like you had left Dallas and entered the South of France: a very fun and special night. We will return as soon as we can."

  • "We went to Lavendou for our anniversary. We ate outside because it was quite noisy inside. The restaurant inside is quite pretty. We were so glad we ate outside because our experience was marvelous! The patio is well shielded from the street and traffic; we forgot we were on a busy street! The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We didn't feel rushed and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. This is a 'special occasion' restaurant for us."

  • "Four of us enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day lunch with excellent service and delicious meals. Lavendou was very busy, but we never felt rushed and the 3-course meal was perfect. We will definitely return next year to celebrate this special day. Thanks to Pascal and all his staff for making this occasion memorable."

  • "We wanted to try some place special for my birthday dinner and Lavendou Bistro had been on our list for quite awhile. The food was delicious - I had the special, Dover Sole with Lump Crabmeat and a salad. My husband enjoyed the Gambas et Coquilles St. Jacques en Mille Feuilles and the roasted vegetables. We shared the chocolate souffle for dessert. The service was good but not great. Several people around us seemed to receive a lot of attention from the wait staff and we decided they must be regulars. We sat out on the patio which was very pleasant with a border of large potted plants to block the street noise and view of the parking lot. Overall, charming ambience, delicious food, and decent service."
