Ordered and shared among us a wide variety of entrées and main courses. Everything was excellent... Only a matter of degree. We had heard about Lavendou for years but this was our first visit. It's expensive, but well worth it. The inside dining room has a wonderful ambience, but was too loud for our preferences, so we ate outdoors, which was also very pleasant. Service professional and attentive. It has a small, romantic atmosphere which is what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary. It won't knock your socks off, and even though they were notified it was our anniversary they sort of just shrug their shoulders and keep right on going. No one makes you feel particularly special there, but it is always a nice dining experience due to the ambience & food. The food was very good but I'm probable skewed a bit since I tend to love the spicy asian type of food. The Olive Tapenade served with the french baguette is fantastic. BE CAREFUL not to fill up on it. While I didn't drink any, the wine list looked quite complete with a wonderful selection of French wines. The escargot were good, but the entrecote was wonderful (especially the accompanying merlot butter). The pomme frites are note quite the "french" style, but were fine. The Grand Marnier Souffles was as expected, very good. My wife enjoyed the Moules and found them lovely. Bernie was out waiter and was excellent. We will request him the next time. The filet was cooked perfectly and my husband's filet of sole with crabmeat was outstanding. The tables are close and it is somewhat noicy, but I think they were going more for a community feeling. So if you are expecting a quiet table without people near you, this isn't for you, however we didn't feel cramped or have the need to raise our voices to be heard. My only complaint would be the service was slow. There may have only been two waiters working the somewhat small restaurant and took a long time between the water server filling our glasses and getting a drink order placed. The restaurant was very busy, but the noise level was fine. The restaurant was decorated and very festive. The "special" menu was wonderful and we had a great bottle of red wine for $38 a bottle. The restaurant was packed but we were seated and served without being rushed. At midnight we had complimentary champagne and party favors which was fun.
