Lavagna - Washington DCTour of ItalyLive Italian food and really enjoyed my experience at Lavagna. I like that they make pasta from scratch. I would hope that they would season the pasta better. The dish I had was good but a little bland. I loved the music and it made for a perfect first date. The decor was cozy and you felt comfortable. They have an extensive wine list from various regions of Italy and the waitress for very helpful in picking out wines and dishes. I would go back, maybe get a different dish.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Brunch! We found Lavagna on a blog about the best brunches in DC and tried it since it was so close to home. It didn't disappoint. My husband has ordered almost the entire menu over the last few months. I remain true to their pancakes and bottomless mimosas. Definitely would recommend.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat brunchdelicious but the bruschetta isnt on the menu anymore which was the only disappointment!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI hosted a table at LavagnaI hosted a table at Lavagna for Capitol Hill Arts Workshop fundraiser. The food, wine and service was excellent. All my guests enjoyed their home made pastas and the special cocktail "Lavagna"5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Lavagna twiceI've been to Lavagna twice for brunch and loved it both times. Their food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It has a nice atmosphere that is lively but not too loud. It is my favorite brunch spot in DC so far, and I would highly recommend it.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLasagna continues to serveLasagna continues to serve creatively prepared, wonderful tasting cuisine. Its dedication to being a locavore restaurant ensures that ingredients are always fresh. Highly recommended4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat weekend spot for brunchGreat weekend spot for brunch on a warm day. All the food is homemade and locally sourced, down to the ketchup. Service was outstanding. Close to Eastern Market to make a full day out of it.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMServer was great very informativeServer was great very informative and friendly without being intrusive. Had a charcuterie board, great choices, would go back to try more. House made pasta really good salads and great desserts4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI very much enjoyed our mealI very much enjoyed our meal at Lavanga. The outdoor patio was worth waiting for, and our waiter graciously kept the mimosas coming -- even as it approached the end of the brunch day. I ate every bit of my omelette, and my dining companions raved about their food. In short, the perfect spot for a spring brunch.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWish we had tried it a lotWish we had tried it a lot sooner! We will make up for that. Our server was Jason, great job.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service - tryGreat food and service - try the "crack tots" if they have them for brunch (special item).4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for brunchWe went there on glowing recommendations for brunch. The food was fantastic and our mimosas were never empty - even after paying the check. The patio is great and the bacon was particularly wonderful. Definitely going back4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second time atThis was my second time at Lavagna (the first was for dinner; this time, for brunch.)
I was impressed with the range and quality of the food; the service is top notch; the home-made pastas are prepared to perfection; and the sauces, both red and pesto, were the right portions and very flavorful. The pesto, in fact, was some of the best I've ever had.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is great and reasonablyThis place is great and reasonably priced. One of my favorites on 8th.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for brunch; our foodWe went for brunch; our food was great and the service was fantastic. Within two minutes, we had mimosas in hand and our server was liberal with the refills. After we finished eating, our server didn't push us to leave which was quite refreshing. Great brunch!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMfun music, outstanding servicefun music, outstanding service and great food! We did brunch but I would like to go back and try dinner.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLavagna was great! I had beenLavagna was great! I had been wanting to try it for brunch for a while and it lived up to my expectations. Great brunch with wonderful food and service. The staff was friendly and accommodating to help my group get a table outside. Mimosas were absolutely wonderful too. I will definitely be going back soon!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Excellent food--can taste the freshness of all the ingredients. Pasta made in house. Other ingredients are from local farms.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the perfect locationThis was the perfect location for a brunch with friends and family after a 5K race last weekend. They were so accommodating of our large party (13 people) and kept the great service up the entire time we were there. Everyone enjoyed their food- making this a wonderful experience!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second visitThis was our second visit to Lavagna and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. It is in our neighborhood and we will visit often.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI was really disappointedI was really disappointed that a whole food, farm to table inspired restaurant was serving corn-syrup based "maple syrup." Very odd considering that the server told us their pancakes were on of the biggest hits during brunch. This definitely detracts from the restaurant's reputation about the quality of food it serves and where it comes from.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite DC Brunch spotLavagna is becoming one of my favorite places to brunch in DC. The bottomless mimosas are great and so is my favorite brunch dish: the biscuits and gravy with italian sausage. Our server, Rich was very attentive and friendly. The owner also approached our table to ask us about the service, which I thought was a great detail. The ambiance is very nice as well: we sat outside with a nice view of barracks row and great people watching. Looking forward to dinner there!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMbottomless brunch! The staff was super friendly (but NOT in an in-your-face kind of way) & they kept the mimosas coming! Plus the food was good & locally-sourced! What more could you want?!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat 8th St SE locavore ItalianI came across Lavagna a few months ago and popped in for a drink while waiting for a friend. Great find! I was impressed by the friendly reception and the relaxed ambiance of the upstairs bar area. My friend and I ate there later that evening and both enjoyed our entrees, the mushroom-rich risotto and a wonderful ravioli dish. My spouse and I returned last weekend and were very pleased with the ambiance and the emphasis on local sourcing for the delicious dishes we ordered. We sat upstairs this time surrounded by couples w/young kids, but it was fine and we all enjoyed our meals. The short rib appetizer is superb and I loved the fettuccine bolognese. My spouse had the pappardelle chicken, another new favorite. We will be back!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent quality of foodExcellent quality of food and unique presentation of charcuterie . The server was experienced and most helpful!
The owner/manager was most hospitable .3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here but not the last!I was traveling to DC to visit My Son and His Girlfriend. I always look at Open Table to see what's available... I ran across Lavagna did a little research and the rest was history. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out the staff was excellent. Lisa our server was fantastic and took real good care of us. The food was outstanding, fresh, well presented and very tasty. They use fresh ingredients sourced from local farms. Their cured meats are awesome - some of the best I have had. Too bad I didn't have time to go to the class they were going to have on how to cure your own meats. So if you have not been to Lavagna I would highly recommend it.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDined here with Friends onDined here with Friends on Saturday and had an awesome experience.
