A word from LaurieRaphael - Montreal
From the moment you walk in, you’ll discover a truly “made in Quebec” environment, from dishes to décor. The very modern design by Jean-Pierre Viau, hued with the charms of Quebec. A warm, laidback atmosphere, attentive service, an exceptional wine list, and above all, authentic cuisine created by Daniel Vézina. A menu that offers “appetizer size” portions to let you sample many specialties in the same meal. You can also acquire a full range of homemade Quebec products at the Laurie Raphaël boutique along with tableware pieces designed exclusively for us by local craftspeople.

  • "Exciting" dinner

We both got the Chef Chef menu choice for dinner and asked our waiter to choose two glasses of wine to accompany. The Chef Chef menu was definitely the way to go, the chef chooses what dishes to serve - you have no choice and they don't tell you what's coming - everything we ate was marvelous, and we would never have come up with such a happy progression by ourselves. The only caveat was the length of our dinner. We sat at 7 and weren't out until after midnight, while that was fine for us and our day, I can see how it would be undesirable for some. Overall, delicious food and kind waitstaff.

Excellent as usual. First time with the new chef Akim (from the reality show Les Chefs). We took the Menu Degustation with the wine tasting. Everything was perfect-except a little too much wine (Plan a cab if you take this menu). We have never been disappointed by this restaurant and will go back again.

Overall it was good, but the portions are really tiny for the price. 25$ meal for 5 bites, that's a bit over priced in my opinion. I'll not go back that is for sure as I believe you can have a great dinning experience elsewhere for same price but with regular size portions.

The service was atrocious. There were more servers than cooks. The servers would go back and forth for no apparent reasons, without anything in their hands. At least 20 minutes would go by between services and the portions were extremely small for the price paid. They charge almost as much as Toqué but they are leagues away from Toqué profesionnalism. This was the worst culinary experience I've had in years.

One of the best restaurants in Montreal. Really. We had the tasting menu with accompanying wines. The food is beautifully presented and the flavours are great. The service is attentive but not overbearing. The decor is alright but the most important aspect is that the noise level is low. I would go back anytime.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 8/30/2012
The business dinner we had was very good. We had the tasting nenu with wine pairings. All but one of your pairings was ideal. The service was a little bit slow at first but developped the right pace after the order. The cost was high and so was the quality of the food. The wine selction seemed expensive for the incremental cost of 70$ per person. We enjoy the meal as we do all our visits to the Laurie-Raphael.

Laurie Raphael is one of the best fine dining options in Montreal. The dining room is chic and beautiful, the service professional, and the food very good to excellent. Some of the dishes are a bit on the expensive side relative to what is served. Cocktails were ok, but nothing to write home about. Yet, overall, a very good experience and I would return...but not as often as to La Chronique or Le Club Chasse et Peche

Went for the Chef Chef menu which is a 3 course surprise. All 3 courses were excellent in terms of presentation and taste. My wife had marbled glazed piglet which truly was melt in the mouth. Portion sizes are small with the added complication that outside of the two tasting menus, their is no starter/main/dessert structure. My wife is not a big eater but even she was still hungry prior to dessert. The all chocolate dessert did fill her in the end. Service was excellent.Just the right amount of time between dishes. The wine bottle was emptied just prior to dessert. No hovering. Waiters were well informed in terms of allergies/ingredients. $10 water is disappointing and valet park changed my radio settings (unprofessional). Otherwise good.

Had their tasting menu for two people. Food was quite good although I have had better French for the price (C$96 per person before tax+tip). Presentation was excellent, and color was also very good. Long list of wines available. Service was also excellent. Every stuff was helpful and carried a genuine desire to service diners. Daniel Vezina's restaurant is apparently considered one of the best in Quebec city. We have never tried the Quebec one but this was our 3rd visit to this restaurant and our first for lunch. The setting is very nice and not noisy. We brought a guest there. The food was good but not to the level I would have hoped for. I had a saummon appetizer and my wife had a ceviche and we both had braised lamb. The service was very average and we had to hail the waiter a couple of times to get his attention. Not good at lunch when you don't have unlimited time. Wine list good but expensive with a limited number of bottles under $100. Water bottle is charged at $10 a bottle for local eska water. Overall dissapointing. We will probably not go back.

One of the best restaurants we visited in our 2 1/2 years stay in Montreal so far. Outstanding food (we ordered the tasting menu, although without the wine), great service. The do not go the traditional starter, main course, desert setup but follow rather a tapas approach, meaning small portions so you can taste more different food. This said, 2 - 3 courses should be sufficient for more or less everybody. It ranges at the high end of the price scala but is certainly worth every cent.

Food was good but not as good as Toqué. The most disapointing was the service. It was slow about 2hrs for a lunch and unhelpful. The waiter wouldn't want to tell me what was the chef's'suggestion pretending it was a surprise. He wouldn't even tell me if it was beef, fish, no hint at all. Also they forgot our dessert for which we had paid for. I mentioned it to the hostess on my way out. She didn't offer anything to fix this, but asked for our business card. We haven't heard from her since.
