  • "The steak options were not good...I've never been to a steakhouse without a filet on the menu. The steaks on the menu were very overpriced. I settle for seafood--the ahi tuna, and it was very nice, but nothing special. The asparagus was awful...overdone and swimming in oil. The service was not great...our waiter kept gesturing for me to hand over the plate, and was generally not very attentive. Nothing was awful, but there are better places for the price."

  • "I went w/my friend for dinner and I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and mixed green salad while he had a prime rib dinner. Our waiter automatically splited the prime rib dinner and charged us a split plate fee. First, my friend never requested to split and it was awkward when the server brought two plates. We didn't make it a big deal until there was a charge on the bill. When we confronted the waiter why the charge and the menu doesnt show that. He said he gave us a bigger sweet potato and I didn't even eat/want that. He removed it but 'lectured' us since it's common practice that. I was furious when I heard that statement but didnt want to argue. Always meet your customers' requirements! We will not return."

  • " We had an early reservation on a wed so it was quiet which was fine with us. The food was outstanding my hubby had the 20 oz prime rib because we like thick and we like leftovers. I had the shrimp and grits and it was to die for. Dessert was not that great we had chocolate bread pudding. Blah! Our waiter Dago was very informative and nice. We will be back in a week!"

  • "French Dip was great the first 1 time I was there, Second time it was just ok, Meat was rare causing very "mushy" texture so this time I decided on the Prime Rib Wrap. Again it was good, Portion was a good size and the Clam Chowder was excellent."

  • "My friend and I ordered the beet salad because we love beets, it did not disappoint. Great dressing and a nice mix of melon, spinach, and endive with some candied walnuts, quite a treat! My friend next had the shrimp sandwich which she enjoyed, while I had the beef noodle salad. I really liked the salad, but I think it would have been improved with a little something to "kick up" the noodles, as Emeril would say. The desserts were fabulous. Our waitress was nice and unobtrusive. Only there when you needed her, as I like it. All in all, very pleasant experience!"

  • "This is an great place for a business lunch, or if you want to catch a bite solo, pull a seat up to the bar and watch a little TV and enjoy a great meal. I usually do the latter, but recently I took a group with me and they all really enjoyed to choices. The soups are awesome and you gotta try the cream corn. You can thank me later."

  • "Great HRW lunch menu. Shrimp BLT had enormous shrimp, perfectly cooked. Thai salad was tasty. Italian cream cake was chock-a-block full of nuts and delicious. Only off note was strsnge texture of what tasted like uncooked brownie batter. Service on a busy Sunday lunch with many a large group was perhaps the most attentive Iin town. My mom had never been here...she'll be back!"

  • "This was our first visit to Laurenzo's, and we were looking for someplace a bit upscale that wouldn't break the bank. Although their steak prices are on the very expensive side ($45+ except for some of the prime rib choices), the rest of the items we ordered were priced reasonably and everything was very tasty. Our service was absolutely impeccable and attentive. The wine list was extensive, and the bar was well stocked. I can see this becoming a favorite place for my wife and I, and best of all, it fits every occasion from casual to dressy."

  • "My husband and I love this place. We nearly always get the surf & turf, as their preparation of the filet is reliably flawless and who doesn't loved a grilled lobster tail?! We decided to get something different: I ordered the carpaccio and a grilled artichoke. Tender thin sliced filet seasoned nicely (including an orange note) beneath peppery arugula with chunks of parm, all finished with a hint of olive oil and balsamic--heavenly!!"

  • "I would compare laurenzos to a Saltgrass. Their "best prime rib in Houston" is only decent. It's not worth $46 for 12 oz. I would pay $30 at most for it. This place is expensive because of location and that's it. The food is not worth the price. Is it good? Yeah sure, but is it "$50 steak" amazing? Not a chance. Save your money and go to Saltgrass. Or take that $50 and go get unlimited steak from fogo de chao. That's a better use of your $$."

  • "We had seen the restaurant many times. We and another couple like to try new restaurants about once per month. We made reservations for a Saturday night. Initial reaction was 1, the parking lot is small and 2, with many hard surfaces in the restaurant, it was often difficult to hear conversation at the table. The wine list was adequate. The wait staff is very polite; however our waiter was not as knowledgeable about the menu as we expected. Two of our four ordered 'pork chops' that were 'off-menu.' When the entrée was brought to the table all four of us commented that we'd never seen pork chops like that. They were lamb chops. The other entrees were good. Dessert was so-so. Price was about $80 per person with tip"

  • "Only okay unfortunately, we had the prime rib "their specialty" and it was not impressive, but I wouldn't say it was bad. Only okay. The service was good, but it seemed like our waiter was the only person with people in his section, we felt slightly neglected at times. Not the service you expect when you consider the cost. Ended up leaving a 25% tip, not because it was deserved, but because I didn't feel like waiting another 15 minutes for my change. Side note, this place seems like it can't decide what it wants to be. It tries to say "hey I'm a high end steakhouse" but the decor and staff make it say "hey we're kind of a sportsbar/taqueria" Please decide what you are."

  • "I've probably eaten at Laurenzo's at least 50 times over the past five years, mostly for business lunches, but also for very romantic dinners with a special date. The interior is a mix of Chicago 1930's Art Decor and some of the most incredible sports memorabilia I've ever seen. But the topper is the excellent food (Prime Rib is a house specialty) but they have great seafood as well. The service is just a impeccable as the food and I've never been disappointed in the whole experience. One of Houston's hidden gems!"
