Diner Reviews
  • "The food was great, the service was great, the atmosphere was vibrant, Beautiful people everywhere. I will be coming here more often."

  • "These guys should realize they were the ones that decided to be in the HOSPITALITY industry. I'm sure no one forced them to open this place. THEY were the ones who said "Hey lets serve people and cook for them" Given it three tries over the past year and not once have I not left frustrated and hungry."

  • "We had a celebratory team meeting at Laurel Hardware and we couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable night. Highly recommend the patio dining, weather permitting."

  • "I've been here before and was pleased with the food and although I realize it's a 'small plate' menu, usually the proteins or bottom menu are enough for one. This time they were as small as the other plates - ex: the braised beef I order was equivalent to 3-4 oz. It had not been braised long enough or at a low enough temp. therefore was extremely fatty. I looked at my girlfriend and said 'there's no one to tell us we can't eat again tonight'...But after the $200 tab for a couple cocktails and a few bites I threw in the towl and waited for my breakfast."

  • "We had our reservation at 6:45pm but there were already a good number of people buzzing by the bar and seated at tables. The ambiance is chic casual and it seemed like most people had come straight from work. Our server was very attentive and incredibly pleasant. There's also the outside seating area that's really secluded from the hustle and bustle of Santa Monica blvd. I would recommend this place to friends."

  • "I loved the atmosphere, but the food wasn't great for the price and quantity. Small plates is I think a way for restaurants to get away with only $$ but you leave hungry unless you want to spend $$$. But the patio was great.. I'll be back for drinks and eat dinner elsewhere."

  • "Everything about Laurel Hardware is a joy. The staff are excellent right down to the bus boys! The food is exceptional and exciting- hard to stand out in a town where all the food is good - but it does! The cocktails are delicious too."

  • "With my food allergies, they were much more accommodating than they were the first time I went there. This time, it was a normal and wonderful experience. Great server!"

  • "Food is very tasty & indulgent. The duck salad, beef shoulder, steak, fries & butterscotch dessert were all to die for."

  • "This was out second time here and we loved it both times. First visit we are inside by the bar and this time we sat outside. Loved both spots! Our waiter was awesome and food was too!"

  • "Excellent wxperience--disappointed they could not honor my request for patio dining but all was pleasant!"

  • "From the outside you don't think much. Once you walk in and continue walking towards the back. It's a total unexpected Restaurant/Bar. Inside is rustic yet modern look and feel, Outside is just the same but with a touch of a Tuscan Courtyard with 3 big Olive Trees. Food is amazing and very reasonably priced. I found my new favorite Brunch place to go on Saturdays or Sundays."

  • "Laurel Hardware has an excellent ambiance and greta location. Food is good but very pricey for the starters and salads. Salad and small plates are tiny, not good for sharing as you would think. Pizzas are great and good price. Drinks are a bit expensive, but you kind of expect that in a venue like this."

  • "I was not expecting the restaurant to be so huge or for there to be a patio and I was sure surprised when the hostess seated us at the patio. We sat at the communal table, which is fine when you aren't on a date. I wish you could request no communal table but oh well. The drinks were great and very unique. I highly recommend the Skinneas Fog and Fear & Loathing. The food was overall good but not amazing. Food is served when it is ready so you may get your food at odd times. One of our entrees arrived immediately after the appetizer and the other entree showed up 15 minutes later, which made for a little bit of awkwardness. Overall, a great place. Be warned, valet is $8.00 and it takes FOREVER to get your car."

  • "The drinks are expensive and really chintzy on the alcohol. Two notable dishes were the summer corn with truffles and the duck confit salad. Both of those were excellent. The main courses were just okay. The steak was over cooked and tough. Good sauce though. The chicken had a strange texture and the spices on it were overbearing. The chocolate brownie had this "ice cream" on it that was hideously bad. All three of us spit the ice scream out. I didn't know you could screw up ice cream."

  • "Pros: Great decor and outdoor patio. Delicious food and great staff. Cons as to why I would not frequent this place: Lacks ambience due to poor music choice or no music at times. A very low volume loungy house music would be perfect for the ambience."

  • "Fantastic food, great atmosphere always a pleasure to dine here. The only slight problem this trip was that it took 15 minutes after being seated for a server to appear."

  • "Great restaurant. We got great service and really enjoyed the evening. The ribs were delicious also the summer corn was a favorite. The lollipop sprouts were cooked to perfection as well."

  • "Laurel Hardware is a pretty amazing place. We had dinner and drinks, the food was good, but the cool thing is the ambiance, the whole place is full of people, good music and great bar area. Eventhough the place was fool, the service still was excellent and our plates didn't last long to come out."

  • "its pretty crappy. waited forever for a table and then got mediocre food. staff was nice but this place is not very good. so many better places to go in area."

  • "Drinks are still good and interesting, food seems to have taken a hit since the last time I was there. It's always way too loud and it feels like you are eating in a bar/club."

  • "Enjoyed a dinner with my husband and daughter here. My daughter ordered the San Daniele prociutto, I had the Margherita pizza and husband the pepperoni pizza. The pizza has a thin, cracker-like crust and was delicious. Service was quick and super friendly. We love the decor and patio in the back. They have a low key exterior that one might easily mistake for a store in a strip of retail shops, but once inside, wow! I want those hardwood floors!"

  • "For brunch it was nice -- crowded immediately upon opening, we sat outside. Creative spaces throughout. Blood orange mimosas were good. Corn pancakes okay, fried chicken & biscuit good (biscuits in general excellent). The "migas" is chilequiles and not a highlight - skip. Bacon tomato sandwich was good but a little too much dressing/spread. Service was very friendly and the cocktails looked good, though we did not try. If you charm the waiter you can get a biscuit subbed for toast. It's not the absolute best place for brunch but we would return and try some lunch items next time. I would compare it with TASTE, and BLD."

  • "We had been recommended by friends as we are from outside the city. The staff were fantastic and looked after us so well, had a great night and would love to come back."

  • "The scene is always lively and good for people watching but the food is hit or miss. I've had good dining experiences and I have also had very mediocre ones. The vibe is good enough to keep coming back but you have to know what to get and what not to. I love the chicken liver mouse."

  • "A perfect balance of good food and drink in a unique setting. Very busy place to see and be seen without sacrificing quality of the service or the items served. It is the place to be on a Saturday night in WEHO even late for a light meal. The menu selections are somewhat limited offering a narrow choice of mostly small plate food options but we enjoyed everything we tried from the ribs, to lollipop salad, and marinated steak ( the classic pizza was good but too spicy for more than a bite). We will be back."

  • "The hostesses on arrival were very friendly. Never been here before and only passing as I have driven by which is misleading; once you see the back room and the outdoor dining area, I was blown away; especially knowing the real hardware store. Even though we were told when called to confirm the reservation that we have no choice on what room or the outdoor area we wanted to sit in, it was totally up to them , sort of bothered me. Even when I asked again, the answers were not great & seemed to be more based on whom they were seating than what the CUSTOMER wanted. Overall, ambiance very good, service excellent, food was very good but not amazing. All in all though would recommend and would go back."

  • "We had the four of the small plates, called Greens. Three were excellent and one was good. The blistered tomatoes and lollipop sprouts were memorable. The two pizzas were surprisingly good, great thin bubbly crusts. The corn pizza was different and exceptional. Our server had extremely helpful suggestions and was friendly and attentive."

  • "This is not a food spot, more a trendy bar scene, it's the "it" spot for the next 5 min., food not that good, they're just churning it out , cardboard pizza, go if you want a bar scene, loud music - good for drinks, not dinner"

  • "Great service, great drinks, great food, great atmosphere. Just awesome."

  • "Cute trendy place with good-looking young patrons. Our waitress was super-pleasant but lacking in competence. Orders didn't come out. Manager helped her out. Food was okay. Beautiful space unfolds as you walk in. Nice patio."

  • "I've eaten here a few times now and it's always been dependable and fun. Bartendar pour strong drinks and the place is always popping with a nice vibe. It's the food, though, that makes me come back. This time some fried squash blossoms and a blistered tomato salad were fantastic. Because they don't have any true vegetarian entrees ( my only complaint) I had the mushroom pizza which was also really good. Service is consistent though some of the bartenders come off as thinking they're a lot cuter than they really are. This is a good choice for a casual night out with friends. Hasn't let me down yet!"

  • "Food was good! but service was okay. I asked for red pepper flakes for the pizza we ordered and the waiter never brought it to us. 20 mins later, I asked again. I got it 10 mins later. Our waitress was busy but I would think that in a span of 25 mins, she would have at least came by to see how we were doing."

  • "We had a nice time, but I still don't get the hype. Overall, really nice experience. Food was good, not impressive. A bit overpriced."

  • "I couldn't believe this spot as once an actual hardware store. There are three rooms. The front is small and intimate, the middle is vibrant with a great bar, and the back is an outside, very cool area with bar too. The food was amazing, and the service was great! I will definitely go back!"

  • "Went here for a birthday brunch and it was perfect. Outside seating is a great atmosphere and the staff was very accommodating to our large party. The food was great and the mimosas were too."

  • "Took an out-of-town friend here for her first dinner in LA. Great lowkey vibe, fantastic natural lighting and outdoor seating. Only helps that it's on a great neighborhood. Chairs/tables are a bit unique- but fit with the vibe."

  • "This was a joke. had a reservation at 10:30 for 7 people. They make us wait 45 minutes and at 11:15 finally tell us that our table is ready but random people are sitting at it and they don't want to move them so we had to take a bad table at the front/ What a JOKE!"
