Diner Reviews
  • "Got a travelzoo. If you see it grab it!!! We'll worth it Mia and Jon"

  • "Food was great. Our waitress was very knowledgable and patient. Only complaint would be the portion of the appetizer. Everything else was right on."

  • "The food was delicious--beautifully presented, fresh and tasty. The atmosphere was lovely surrounded with piano music and artistic space. The waiters and waitresses were attentive and friendly. The overall ambiance at the Fairmont was spectacular. We'll be back again for the food and atmosphere and overall wonderful experience at the Fairmont!"

  • "The best part of the place is the friendly and talented guy who plays the piano. He definitely sets the restaurant apart from others in the city. The food was good, but the preparation was a bit spotty. I applaud the waitstaff for working hard to fix the problems, but look forward to a problem free meal next time."

  • "Decided to try the afternoon tea at the Fairmont hotel so we made a reservation for 3 at 1:45pm. When we arrived it was hard to find the garage but we did and the valet told us Laurel Court would validate for 2 hours so we didn't have to pay for parking. Laurel Court was surprisingly not how I thought it would look like. There weren't too many people so reservation wouldn't be necessary. Waiter was extremely nice and explained the teas. The food was really delicious and I would come back here"

  • "Haven't been to the Fairmont for years. Lovely to return. Both of us had a drink in the bar which was very enjoyable. Dinner was very good, nice menu and selction for Travelzoo customers. I would go back."

  • "Discreet spot for nice lunch for two, private conversation possible since tables are not too close to each other and one can speak at a normal tone and still hear each other. Price is quite reasonable for the quality."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "18% gratuity automatically added to bill. I was there with a TravelZoo voucher which I'm sure is the reason for the automatic but would prefer the tip to be at my discretion. The tip is itemized on receipt but gratuity line is left blank which I think is misleading."

  • "The service was extraordinary. No wonder everybody wants get married at the Fairmont or the Plaza"

  • "We had a deal on Living Social. Dining here is a lovely experience. Originally I thought there would be a view since the hotel is on the top of Nob Hill, but the restaurant is actually just off the lobby. Still lovely. Would probably not go again without a "deal" however. The cost with the "deal" was over $100 for two. This was for a shared appetizer, two soups or salads, two entries and parking. Dessert and coffee not included. @ithout the deal would have been over $200."

  • "We waited for over an hour to get our dinner after ordering. Other people came in, we're seated, ordered their dinner, we're served, finished dinner, paid their their bill and left while we waited for our dinner to be served. We asked twice why it was taking so long with no answer."

  • "I paid $89.00 for two people to dine and includes two glasses of wine up to $17.00 per person. The food, and service was good. We each receive a very small portion of the wine (per glass). I guess that's the $17 limit per glass? When the bill came we were charged for the Tax on the food which I expect based on the Travelzoo information. Tax was based on the regular amount which was $140.00 plus the server already included the 20 percent tip, based on the $140.00 regular food price. I normally give 20 percent tip anyway but was quite surprise that the server immediately put the amount on the bill. Overall, by taking advantage of the Voucher offered by Travelzoo, we saved some money on the 20% tip and tax."

  • "Food was divine and good portions. Staff were very attentive to details, gave excellent recommendations. The Piano Man was amazing! Wonderfully romantic. PB&J banana split was worth saving some room for!"

  • "We ate breakfast, slow service and food not that good."

  • "Very positive evening overall. Service was excellent. Waiters were very considerate of table conversation and were there to make the evening flow. The food was delicious and the presentation wonderful. Tried this through travelzoo and the waiters made it a very smooth experience. Would definitely go back."

  • "Elegant surroundings in San Francisco's finest historic district. Delicious fare with numerous tea selections. Fine service."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "The Laurel Court is a lovely, not-too-formal spot for a special evening. It is located in the famous Fairmont Hotel at the top of Nob Hill. You can take the nostalgic streetcar right to its entrance to make it a memorable San Francisco memory."

  • "It was a nice experience overall. After reading the other reviews I was hoping that the TravelZoo voucher we had wouldn't put us in "second class". Everything went smooth except the host said we didn't have a reservation and after I showed him the email confirmation from Open Table, he sat us. Other than that the service was great - friendly and attentive and not at all lowered because of the coupon. Great job Kim! The cioppino and clams were wonderful but the sirloin steak and Caesar salad were not that good. The setting was very elegant in the beautiful hotel and I will take out of town guests here to show them - maybe have a drink and appetizer at the bar next time and not the full meal."

  • "Highly recommend for a date night if you want to be able to spend a relaxing time to enjoy the hotel, food & drinks, and piano music. Plan to spend $$$$, but worth the splurge. Great place to end the day in SF, especially if you were out all day exploring the city."

  • "Great Hotel Restaurant at Fairmont. Piano music live and great service. Nice food choices well prepared."

  • "We were a bit wary about this deal and thought the place would be 'snobby'. We could not have been more wrong. The head waiter who greeted us had the highest possible customer service skills and the main waitress was friendly, helpful and polite. The food selection was just right. Not too many choices and some healthy ones. For a 4/5 star hotel the wine prices were not excessive. We paid more in Vegas fn a Thai restaurant for wine. Pity I could not manage a dessert, I bet they were equally good. Top marks to the Fairmont."

  • "Great food, particularly the cioppino, phenom. wine deal with our "open Table" deal & all within 30 feet of a super piano player. Our waiter, "June", just added to this spectacular dining experience. Can't wait to go again!!!!"

  • "We bought a coupon from travelzoo, and I had heard That you are not treated well when you use these Vouchers at nice resturants, but I had never experienced This before. When we asked for more bread we were Ignored, the food had very little flavor, the I ly upside To our experience was our kind waiter."

  • "Looks good and tastes bland. Totally uninspired. Don't bother...."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "The food was great and the service more than pleasant. The piano playing in the back ground was remarkably calming that one would have imagined it natural."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Service was rushed. We could not understand the waiter Due to language issues. We had to flag the waiter Down several times to replenish tea, cocktails & Food options . Food was good.. Service was terrible"
    Dined on 2/23/2014
  • "We came on the Travelzoo coupon which seemed to put us in the 3rd class section right in the middle of the room which was annoying since we had requested a romantic table on Open Table when booking our dinner reservations. We were lucky we had a couple of cocktails to start the night, the manager had to be called at the disclosure of our Travelzoo coupon. (Very embarrassing) I think if your going to sell coupons our staff should be trained in using them. The menu we were given to accompany the Travelzoo coupon was not the same as the restaurant menu. When the food eventually arrived it was pretty bad, I have never spat out food before in my life but the NYstrip was not edible in my mind. The veggies were pretty much burnt, and rocks."

  • "The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, the murals, chandeliers, marble, everthing is beautiful. Our server was sweet & checked on us often. The food was not what you would expect, out of 5 dishes, only 1 was executed correctly. Scallops were cooked nicely & not overdone."

  • "My friend and I could talk, the food was good, and the service was quick and gracious!"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "I had steak and it was cooked the way I like it (m rare), the [piece was a decent size and tender. Could have used a vegetable. My wife had the special which was scallops, there were 3 large scallops which were tasty with a potato puff. We each had a glass of wine (pinot & chardonnay) and the fill was nice. Hostess was very sweet and the waitress did a very good job."

  • "The staff was wonderful, very attentive. The food, especially the salmon, was perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Laurel Court inside the Fairmont is a beautiful upscale restaurant with good service for a quiet dinner, especially if you are out of town, staying at the San Francisco Fairmont, and planning to go across the street to the Top of the Mark for after dinner drinks and the view."

  • "we had the travelzoo special and the food and service was amazing. The ambience was great too with a piano player playing great tunes. Highly recommended even without a discount :)Thank you!"

  • "My husband, myself and our 13-year old daughter had reservations on a Sunday afternoon for tea time at the Fairmont Hotel. We were expecting everyone in the Laurel Lounge to be wearing sport coats and dresses, however that was not the case. Most people are tourists wearing jeans. Our server, Fermin, was excellent, and even let me switch my tea selection halfway through our experience. The menu is self explanatory, and the food presentation is very cute! For $40/ head, it was well spent quality time with the family. I made the reservation because I liked the idea of going out for a taste of civility and elegance and it did prove itself to be just that-- civilized and elegant."

  • "We decided to dine at the Laurel Court to celebrate my daughter's birthday. But after being seated we waited at least 25 minutes before being offered a beverage, and another 40 minutes for the food to be served. My youngest daughter was starving by the time her mac and cheese arrived. The food was expensive and so-so and the service was dreadful. On a positive note, the restaurant did bring a special birthday dessert."

  • "I went here with a travel zoo that my family bought for me as a gift to celebrate my engagement. I was nervous to go to place of such beaut, however the staff made us feel so welcomed! The place was beautiful, the food was amazing, and the service was exceptional. They took a while to bring out food out, however I didn't mind it since I was on a romantic date. Great place, I hope I get the opportunity to go again!"
