Easter Sunday breakfast was nicely done. Not the biggest buffet around, but priced fairly (for San Francisco's Nob Hill) and good food. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. We've eaten at Laurel Court before and when we are in "the city" overnight it is a great place for breakfast.

Afternoon tea at the Fairmont Hotel is a lovely tradition; however, the bill for one full tea came to $50! This is expensive even for San Francisco. The surprise was a 15% "House" charge tacked on to the price in addition to a billed gratuity. The tea sandwiches, scones and pastries were very good, but instead of china tea pots and decorated plates befitting the gorgeous dining room, I was disappointed that they now use stainless tea pots and plain white plates.

My recent experience at the Fairmont was very disappointing. The entree that we chose was the Halibut. The Halibut was very dry but the bed of kale that it was served on was so over seasoned that my sister and I both choked on it. The service was very slow and the restaurant was not busy. We would not return based on this experience.

Travel Zoo coupon offer was 4 entrees, two appetizers, etc and upon arrival from Sacramento in commute traffic was advised we must order from a "Special" menu. Wrong PR for either Company. Credit to the management that wet were allowed to order the delectable crab cakes tho' not on "Travel Zoo" menu provided upon arrival. Disappointment the Halibut was quite dry and the intended Lamb entree that prompted the trip NOT on the previously undisclosed "special Travel Zoo menu". I cannot recommend based on my limited and unfortunate experience, but certainly do appreciate the provision of the superb Crab Cakes and will state as much to anyone who should ask. For all I know, Travel Zoo may be at fault for the clear misrepresentation.

Decided to try the afternoon tea at the Fairmont hotel so we made a reservation for 3 at 1:45pm. When we arrived it was hard to find the garage but we did and the valet told us Laurel Court would validate for 2 hours so we didn't have to pay for parking. Laurel Court was surprisingly not how I thought it would look like. There weren't too many people so reservation wouldn't be necessary. Waiter was extremely nice and explained the teas. The food was really delicious and I would come back here

18% gratuity automatically added to bill. I was there with a TravelZoo voucher which I'm sure is the reason for the automatic but would prefer the tip to be at my discretion. The tip is itemized on receipt but gratuity line is left blank which I think is misleading.

We had a deal on Living Social. Dining here is a lovely experience. Originally I thought there would be a view since the hotel is on the top of Nob Hill, but the restaurant is actually just off the lobby. Still lovely. Would probably not go again without a "deal" however. The cost with the "deal" was over $100 for two. This was for a shared appetizer, two soups or salads, two entries and parking. Dessert and coffee not included. @ithout the deal would have been over $200.

I paid $89.00 for two people to dine and includes two glasses of wine up to $17.00 per person. The food, and service was good. We each receive a very small portion of the wine (per glass). I guess that's the $17 limit per glass? When the bill came we were charged for the Tax on the food which I expect based on the Travelzoo information. Tax was based on the regular amount which was $140.00 plus the server already included the 20 percent tip, based on the $140.00 regular food price. I normally give 20 percent tip anyway but was quite surprise that the server immediately put the amount on the bill. Overall, by taking advantage of the Voucher offered by Travelzoo, we saved some money on the 20% tip and tax.

It was a nice experience overall. After reading the other reviews I was hoping that the TravelZoo voucher we had wouldn't put us in "second class". Everything went smooth except the host said we didn't have a reservation and after I showed him the email confirmation from Open Table, he sat us. Other than that the service was great - friendly and attentive and not at all lowered because of the coupon. Great job Kim! The cioppino and clams were wonderful but the sirloin steak and Caesar salad were not that good. The setting was very elegant in the beautiful hotel and I will take out of town guests here to show them - maybe have a drink and appetizer at the bar next time and not the full meal.

We were a bit wary about this deal and thought the place would be 'snobby'. We could not have been more wrong. The head waiter who greeted us had the highest possible customer service skills and the main waitress was friendly, helpful and polite. The food selection was just right. Not too many choices and some healthy ones. For a 4/5 star hotel the wine prices were not excessive. We paid more in Vegas fn a Thai restaurant for wine. Pity I could not manage a dessert, I bet they were equally good. Top marks to the Fairmont.

We came on the Travelzoo coupon which seemed to put us in the 3rd class section right in the middle of the room which was annoying since we had requested a romantic table on Open Table when booking our dinner reservations. We were lucky we had a couple of cocktails to start the night, the manager had to be called at the disclosure of our Travelzoo coupon. (Very embarrassing) I think if your going to sell coupons our staff should be trained in using them. The menu we were given to accompany the Travelzoo coupon was not the same as the restaurant menu. When the food eventually arrived it was pretty bad, I have never spat out food before in my life but the NYstrip was not edible in my mind. The veggies were pretty much burnt, and rocks.
