  • Catering: In June 2010, The Fairmont San Francisco, in partnership with Marshall’s Farm, installed honey beehives in the hotel’s culinary garden. This home-harvested honey is used in soups, salad dressings, pastries and as an accompaniment to the hotel’s time-honored afternoon tea service. It is also used in The Fairmont San Francisco’s own Honey Saison Beer, which is offered on draft in Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar.   • "My experience at Laurel Court was very disappointing. First of all the service was slow. We ordered fried calamari for an appetizer. It was chewy, and doughy in parts. I ordered fish tacos--it was all right, but I've tasted better. The tacos was too spicy for me due to the diced jalapeno peppers. My husband ordered the soup and salad combo. The onion soup was just OK. The caesar salad was wilted and not great. We shared a creme brulle for dessert which was most unpalatable. It was a free-formed "blob" which looked like a small tower of cookie dough. I've never seen anything like it! The brulee was cold, and was hard with the consistancy of ice cream. All in all, it was a very mediocre experience."

  • "We don't dine in the city very much, but decided to give it a try and bought the Travel Zoo coupon for four for dinner at the Laurel Court Restaurant at the Fairmont and were very pleasantly surprised by the food, service and general ambience of the restaurant. There was live piano music at a subtle distance so that it didn't interfere with conversation, but was a lovely background element. The menu was somewhat limited, but we were offered two newly added choices. We all agreed that the food was very good. The wine was also unexpectedly good and a decent pour too. The experience has inspired us to try it again."

  • "We were no aware this is a price fix menu until we arrive and the host just hand us the only price fix menu. The menu is limited. Later we download the regular menu and found when we add up the price of each item on the menu, it approx. cost the same. No price break. They just jack up the price. That's the reason they do not give us the regular menu so we cannot compare."

  • "For the price tag and the fact that it's located inside the beautiful Fairmont hotel, I was expecting better. I was expecting pampering and impeccable service and it just wasn't the case. The food was meh. Again, expecting the quality to match the price....and it just didn't. The bruschetta was boring, not dressed well. The crabcakes were good but nothing special. I had the burger which was decent. I already forgot what my date had because it was so blah. All just subpar from what I expected."

  • "We had a wonderful experience with great service! I noted that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary when I booked through Open Table. We were surprise that they acknowledged it by serving us champagne and a special delicious dessert that said Happy Anniversary! The interior is quite magnificent and very picturesque!"

  • "I have brunch here before and had a great experience but this time around we all were disappointed with the brunch buffet. We arrived at 10:45am and the entire hot dishes were empty and customers were in line for a very long time until the food arrived (eggs benedict were cold)not up to the reputation of a Fairmont Hotel and especially for the price. When we approached the service staff they acknowledge with reservations and not efficiency."

  • "We were not seated promptly even though they were not busy. However, the service was very good once we were seated. We had a Travelzoo deal which was worth what we spent. The Travelzoo selection of food and wine was very good. The food was good. We had the clam appetizer which was very good and the onions soup and ceasar salad were also very good. The boullebase and the salmon were good. Don't know if I would return without a deal, however."

  • "Steak rare with sunny side up eggs was my order. Steak well done with overcooked eggs is what I got when it finally came. Fresh orange juice tasted watered down. My wife's meal was just as bad and the confusing tab, which also had 18% tip prewritten, needed correction, which also took a while. I don't expect bargains on Nob Hill but this was a rip off and very disappointing for a Fairmont Hotel."

Tea was served in small metal teapots; had to request extra sandwich serving although they did provide one extra of each option. We were a party of 3. Price was $39 and I expected more elegance. Hot water was added to existing tea leaves for 2nd & 3rd teapot refill making it very weak. Most disappointing. Scones were good. Again only 2 a piece, and barely mouthful size. Desserts were ok."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a delicious brunch (Crab Benny and Mission Tacos) to start a day of anniversary festivities. We love the "old San Francisco" feel of the Fairmont and often bring visiting friends to the Tonga Room. We had never eaten at the Laurel Court but were quite pleasantly surprised. Service was solid but not amazing. Food was outstanding. Ambience was lovely. The buffet looked very good too."

  • "This was the second time we had dinner at The Laurel Court at the San Francisco Fairmont in the last four months.. Both times were for very special occasions and we enjoyed the ambience of the Laurel Court. This Monday night (after Easter) seemed to be a slow night. Our waiter was excellent and very personable and took special care of us. The French Onion soup was the best and the Manila camps were tasty. Entree was the New York Steak and it was cooked properly."

We've eaten at Laurel Court before and when we are in "the city" overnight it is a great place for breakfast."

  • "Afternoon tea at the Fairmont Hotel is a lovely tradition; however, the bill for one full tea came to $50! This is expensive even for San Francisco. The surprise was a 15% "House" charge tacked on to the price in addition to a billed gratuity. The tea sandwiches, scones and pastries were very good, but instead of china tea pots and decorated plates befitting the gorgeous dining room, I was disappointed that they now use stainless tea pots and plain white plates."

The Halibut was very dry but the bed of kale that it was served on was so over seasoned that my sister and I both choked on it. The service was very slow and the restaurant was not busy. We would not return based on this experience."

  • "Travel Zoo coupon offer was 4 entrees, two appetizers, etc and upon arrival from Sacramento in commute traffic was advised we must order from a "Special" menu. Wrong PR for either Company. Credit to the management that wet were allowed to order the delectable crab cakes tho' not on "Travel Zoo" menu provided upon arrival. Disappointment the Halibut was quite dry and the intended Lamb entree that prompted the trip NOT on the previously undisclosed "special Travel Zoo menu". I cannot recommend based on my limited and unfortunate experience, but certainly do appreciate the provision of the superb Crab Cakes and will state as much to anyone who should ask. For all I know, Travel Zoo may be at fault for the clear misrepresentation. "

  • "Decided to try the afternoon tea at the Fairmont hotel so we made a reservation for 3 at 1:45pm. When we arrived it was hard to find the garage but we did and the valet told us Laurel Court would validate for 2 hours so we didn't have to pay for parking. Laurel Court was surprisingly not how I thought it would look like. There weren't too many people so reservation wouldn't be necessary. Waiter was extremely nice and explained the teas. The food was really delicious and I would come back here"
