  • "We had a wonderful lunch in one of the courtyard gazebos to enjoy the beautiful weather last week. There was two of us and the staff were very attentive. We started off with the Canton Royale and got the lunch tasting menu. My friend ordered the chive crepe, lemon sole, and baked alaska and I got the trio of norwegian salmon, short ribs, and creme brulee. The meal also included an amuse bouche of fennel soup and a glass of wine. Because it was our birthday, the restaurant surprised us with an additional baked alaska for both of us. All the food was delicious, exquisite, and authentic, and transported us to the French countryside. Great place to enjoy outdoor dining in the spring and summer."

Never heavy handed or overpowering, seasoning is subtle and amazing, Chef lets the foods natural flavors dominate. I had beef medallions with Lamb and Lobster. Plate was decorated beautifully with locally sourced snow peas, brussel sprouts, potatoes, green beans, spinach. Just wonderful. Our waitress, Diane, was awesome, helpful and friendly. Love, love love! "

The meal is paced leisurely so perfect for "sobremesas"--the Spanish phrase for conversation around the table. Lunch value is superb!!"

  • "We brought out of town family and had a wonderful lunch. We all got something different from the menu and shared. Each dish was unique and tasty - nothing left on any of our plates at the end of the meal. Service was friendly and efficient. We were talking and stayed a little late - we never felt rushed. My personal favorite was the 3 salmons and veal - everyone agreed that mine was the best (and I still had to share!!). Our recommended wine was outstanding. Desserts were perfect. This is a great place to bring family and friends for any special occasion or when you want something out of the ordinary. Thank you again for a great lunch."

They have added a Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the list of wines by the glass. The béarnaise was light and perfect. Although the gâteau au fromage maison was recommended, and it was superb, the tarte au chocolat was worthy of the gods. Excellent overall. It is amazing how they have kept their standards so high for so long."

  • "My wife and I decided to come here as a date night; we were greeted with a smile and seated promptly. Our waiter explained the 5-course prix fixe very well and was extremely friendly and personable. He was also quite knowledgable about the meals as we do a lot of cooking at home and was curious about some of the ingredients in the dishes;he didn't hesitate to tell us what they were. My wife realized that tarragon that was bothering her palate. Her main dish came out and was loaded with it. She didn't want to make a scene, but she didn't need to. One of the staff noticed that she wasn't enjoying the dish and quickly came over and worked out a solution. One of the best overall dining experiences we have had; we will definitely be returning."

Even though the restaurant cancelled our reservation and did not notify us, we were still seated. The service was attentive and informal. The food selections, including delectable veal kidneys, were wide ranging and well done. To top it off we got a very nice tour of the place. We'll be back."

So when I wanted to go somewhere special to celebrate my birthday, it was a great spot for a wonderful meal without dealing with DC traffic. that said, the food is well worth a drive if one is required. The menu choice was sufficient, the service perfect and the food was amazing! I had a lovely birthday lunch."
