L'Auberge Chez Francois
LandmarkL'Auberge is a special place and I'm so thankful that I'm fortunate enough to be able to enjoy it.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMJust go. It's worth it.Don't miss it. One of the most charming restaurants in the DC area. And the food is so good...5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceWe celebrated our anniversary here last week. As a first timer, we arrived 15 mins late due to traffic. (And honestly this restaurant is really out there) anyway, the host was able to accommodate us for our late arrival, thank you for doing us a favor and save us the table!
Food was fantastic, they arrive at a good pace and the complimentary chive soup and orange sorbet was a wonderful touch. Waiters and servers are very attentive and pay attention to details. Overall it is a restaurant that deserve what you paid for and with the kind of great service that you'd expect no less from anywhere else.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSeven thumbs up!I've been to this restaurant before, and it never disappoints! The good is always fantastic, the service is superb, it's always an excellent experience. It's not a place you can go every Friday night (it's pricey) but it is excellent for special occasions or romantic outings! Kids are welcome, but they should be old enough to behave themselves and be able to enjoy an upscale meal... Not a place to bring your toddler. Anyway, I can never say enough fantastic things about this place! The food is delicious and rich, and the experience is amazing too!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstnding Lunch! We went fot their weekday lunch and everything was excellent and service was great.

If you want a special night with perfect food, perfect service, etc., this is the place. Expect to pay for perfection.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great experienceThe food, service, and ambiance are great! You must go at least once and be sure to request outside gazebo seating.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLong ride from downtown DC,Long ride from downtown DC, but wotrth every mile of the journey. First came to Chez F 45 years ago when it was located in downtown. Enjoyed a wonderful meal (filet of sole) and ended with the famous plum tart desssert which was exactly as delicious as when first tried it those many years ago. So, superb meal, service wondereful and attentive, French country setting and ambience. What's more to ask for? Don't miss it.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to L'Auberge beforeWe've been to L'Auberge before & this time was the best! Perfect!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen going since 1972This is our all time favorite restaurant . We now live in W' burg, but try to get back at least once a year. We go as a family every Xmas as a special treat. Going in the spring you get the specials from the garden which is nice. We stared going to this restaurant when it was downtown in 1972 and it is our special occasion place ever since.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMla belle FranceWhat a wonderful dining experience! Attentive waiters, wonderful choices, lots of courses. Serving size reasonable. Food - Fabulous5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated a recent weddingCelebrated a recent wedding there and were treated to a meringue dessert with candle followed by champagne. Lovely touch. Food was excellent--6 people ordered 6 different dishes and we all thought OURS was the best. We celebrate all our special occasions there and are never disappointed.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNotable AnniversaryWe celebrated our 11 year anniversary and this was the perfect spot. Romantic, good food, great service and fine wines.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Romantic EveningThe dining experience was outstanding from start to finish. There is no best or better choice from the menu except perhaps a personal preference towards meat or sea food. The wine list was exhaustive to meet all tastes, coupled with a very knowledgeable sommelier with a wonderful table side manor. Service was impeccable. The environment is very warm and inviting, comfortable and catered for wonderful dining as well as celebration of special occasions.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLong live the King...What can I say that has not been said? L'Auberge Chez Francois continues as one of the area's best and favorite places to dine and enjoy the company of family and friends. For many of us there are lots of memories associated with Chez Francois.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable food and serviceWhat a great place for a romantic dinner! Very pricy but it fits the food, service and the opulent setting.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDinnerExcellent meal as usual. The appetizer, salad, entree', and dessert make for a very full meal......4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMTrafition at its bestWe wanted to spend a nice evening eating good food in a charming setting and, once again, "Chez Francois" did not disappoint us. Year after year they have been able to maintain their very special appeal and not many restaurants can offer that diversity of cooking together with such a well rehearsed service. Our appetizers (kidneys, sea food) were excellent and so were the entrees (sole and duck breast). We rarely eat dessert but would not pass on theirs: quite a treat. A few decades ago the Auberge had top food ratings in the region. Recent reviews put it in the middle of the pack. Looking at the many happy patrons around us we realized that we were not the only ones to ignore such reviews.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat DiningAlways enjoy going for special occasions. Never fails to please.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNever fails to impress...My wife and I have been dinning at L'Auberge Chez Francois for years and their service and attention to detail is truly unmatched. Unlike other dining experiences we've had in the area, L'Auberge Chez Francois never fails to impress.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGoing Home AgainJust a fantastic place. Kudos to the hardest working Chef in the business -- Jacques Haeringer. Always a friendly man and so talented. It's just a joy to see that he still cares so very much about this place. Chez Francois continues to impress and improve throughout the years. If Michelin rated restaurants in the Washington DC area -- this restaurant would be worthy of 2 stars.
The lunch menu is wonderful and is a great deal. Service is impeccable. Wonderful Bouillabaisse and perfect soufflés.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic way to celebrate!Loved our meal. And the chef was so gracious when he ran out of something, we thoroughly enjoyed our special birthday celebration.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our anniversaryWe celebrated our anniversary and it was just perfect. Great food, ambiance, wonderful wait staff.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best restaurant on the planetWithout doubt the best food ever (and I lived in France) The very best service and a precious memorable experience. The environment is just superb.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AML'Auberge never disappoints.L'Auberge never disappoints. This visit was purposefully planned during a time of blossoming trees and moderate weather so we could take advantage of dining al fresco on the lovely redecorated patio. The food, as always, was beautiful and delicious. The service, as always, helpful and courteous. The soft shell crab in garlic butter sauce was a highlight as was the duck, so moist and with luscious mouth-feel. A bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape worked well with dinner and some port with the outrageously good Grand Marnier souffle! What more does anyone want! We look forward to our next visit.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AM26th Wedding Anniversary and26th Wedding Anniversary and couldn't have picked a better restaurant for the occasion. The food was exceptional from beginning to end and was certainly matched by the superb service. Look forward to our next visit and hopefully enjoy the outdoor dinning. Great food and service - - You can't go wrong with that combination.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Jacques excelsOur favorite place in the region without comparison. It offers a delicious meal that can be lingered over. From the scrumptious garlic toast to the souffle, the menu is mostly classic French dishes that are always tasty and well prepared.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best little inn aroundWe have been patrons of this restaurant for many years and never once have we been disappointed. The food is always superb, the service excellent in a most wonderful ambiance. Because we live somewhat far away from it we cannot visit as often as we would otherwise, but all our special occasions find us there.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been going the ChezI have been going the Chez Francois since its days downtown. if anything it can be emphasized that it has gotter even better.

See you soon!!
Just a little remark, please give the souffle au grand marnier just a little more "consistence", I felt that in about 3 spoons I had finished the soft part of the souffle.
Never mind I will order as my husband the same souffle next time!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner for a great occasionGreat dinner for a great occasion but god how can you still expect people to eat a 6 course dinner when they come at the end of the work week with kids who never eat more than one plate and a desert. Good vine list even though I got limited advice from the maitre d'hôtel. Most impressive was the foie gras, most disappointing was the chocolate cake. May come back to try the Brasserie in the basement.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost as good as being in FrancePerfect place for taking a break from the daily grind. From the moment you enter, you feel like you are in France at a lovely restaurant out in the countryside. We had the lunch prix fixe menu: it was full of choices from the regular menu and you get 4 courses: beverage, appetizer, entree and dessert. The food was delicious and our server guided us to some wonderful choices. The beef cheeks and the house salad were amazing. Also enjoyed the flounder special. I treated my friend to lunch for her birthday and the staff couldn't have been nicer and gone out of their way more to make her feel special. They even brought her a complimentary dessert -ice cream on a meringue with a candle. Can't wait to go back.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOur foursome had a wonderfulOur foursome had a wonderful time dining in the gazebo outside. The evening, service, food was all so lovely!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMUnsurpassed!L'Auberge is a superb all-around restaurant and a wonderful venue for those special occasions in life. Yes, it costs a bit, but the whole experience -- food, service, ambiance -- makes dining here well worth the price. A nice touch of European flair that makes you forget you're in the suburbs of northern Virginia.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was for a bithday mandThis was for a bithday mand it was wonderful. Everything we had was delicious. The service was attentitive without being hovering. View from the back of the restraunt was wonderful. Definately will go there again!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTo start, I had the musselsTo start, I had the mussels -- overcooked/mealy; my husband enjoyed the pate/sausage. Nice, fresh green salad. We both had the lamb which was very good and a lot of meat. We shared the dark chocolate tart which was good. Nice complimentary tastings between courses (I think it was an asparagus puree soup and probably a sourbet). Server was attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant is pleasant/old fashioned. They have outdoor dining which I would probably choose if the weather is suitable.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a fantastic placeThis is a fantastic place to celebrate a special occasion! My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at L'Auberge Chez Francois and we were extremely pleased with their service. They brought us a special, celebratory dessert, as well as some complimentary items in between courses. They also took my dietary restrictions seriously since I am pregnant. We plan to go back there for our next special occasion!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice window seat, excellentVery nice window seat, excellent service and delicious food! Many thanks! My wife and I made reservations for our 1 year wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, Host and staff were very welcoming and not at all pretentious. The decor is of a french country home, and although proper dress is recommended, the ambiance made you feel at home. Service was at the correct pace; waiters provided beverages and bread, and allowed us ample time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere before bringing by the menus. Food and wine were amazing. We ordered the duck and lamb chops with a bottle of wine. Both were made to perfection. Salads, appetizers, and desserts were also very well made.
