    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 11/21/2010
My wife and I felt our recent dinner was, how do you verbalize this? "Eh". Don't get us wrong, the food was well prepared and the server was fairly attentive. But nothing we ate made us stop and think, "Wow, this is one of the most delicious things I ever ate!". It was okay. Also, as the waiter was repositioning one of the gravy boats on the table, he actually grabbed the accompanying spoon by the spoon end. Also, even before we had left the restaurant both my wife and I experienced profound indigestion, which made for a very uncomfortable drive home. The only thing we ordered separately were the appetizers (salad and Chateaubriand were the same). The lobster in the salad was undercooked and slimy. Chateaubriand was not flavorful.

The perfect dinning experience and it started with our waiter Mark. He asked us about our tastes and provided meanu recommendations. Paced the five courses to allow us to enjoy the experience. Food selection was broad and would meet anyone's requests. My wife enjoyed the diferent wild meats and myself veal. We recommend the souffles- we had two- the hazelnut and berry- both excellent. The price vs. value of the dinning experience makes this an outstanding value. We are well traveled and this hit's as one our top dinning experiences.

L'Auberge Chez Francois had been highly recommended by collegues at work. We are new to the area. We are from Boston, so we know good dining, and we wondered if we could find a romantic place that was not in the city. We desired a place that provided excellent food and ambience. It was our wedding anniversary and L'Auberge Chez Francois fit the bill. The drive through Great Falls was stunning, and the grounds of L'Auberge Chez Francois fit the bill for romance. The staff were friendly, but not overly so. Our waiter was knowledgable and considerate. We ordered the the Chateaubriand and were not dissapointed. The pace of the evening was unrushed and comfortable. Thank you for helping to make our evening a beautiful and memorable one

Outstanding in all ways. This was our first anniversary and they responded to that by bringing a special desert to us. There were also a number of extra items brought to the table as "gifts from the chef" that were small portions, elegantly prepared. The service was fantastic. They were in attendance but not suffocating. The entire staff was polite and welcoming. Prices were moderately high but worth it when considering the location and service that accompanied it.

First time dining at Chez Francois, had heard lots of great things about it. We had a very cozy corner table, it was quite romantic though we weren't celebrating anything. Service was attentive and courteous, everyone was very friendly, and the food presentation was lovely. The food itself was well prepared and tasted great. I felt the portion size was very generous though, and noticed that many other diners had doggie bags as well. The souffle and baked alaska were absolutely wonderful. Its great to have such a nice restaurant in this area of NoVA. Definitely not on par with Inn at Little Washington though...that's in a completely different league.

You just can't find service like this in Virginia. Elegant, but warm. Never miss a beat. Fast when you ask for something, but dinner was perfectly timed over 2 1/2 hours. Chef Jacques made an appearance with a special complimentary appetizer. Every morsel of food was spectacular. I always regret not ordering the chocolate souffle when I taste someone else's.

I have lived in the DC area all my life and found out about L'Auberge Chez Francois years ago but for some reason never could make it there. Something always came up or we had to cancel our plans. This is now one of my great regrets in life that I did not dine here sooner. It was literally the best meal, I have had this year. I was in France a year ago and this is the only French restaurant I have been ever been to which could stand up against the restaurants in France. It is one for your bucket list if you are anywhere remotely in the DC area.

I have dined at Chez Francois in the past without using OpenTable, so this was the first time I reserved a table this way.It was very easy to search for availability and I liked the fact that you provided other available times.I had no doubt that Chez Francois would provide superior service, however I had left a note on OpenTable that this was a special dinner for my wife and I for our annaversary, Chez Francois is where we have gone every year.I purposely did not say a word to them when they called to confirm the reservation, nor did I say anything to the host when we got there.I wanted to see if my note from OpenTable would be recieved, and it was! They gave us a special desert at the end.Well done by both Chez Francois and OpenTable.

  • I found L'Auberge Chez Francois
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 11/5/2010
I found L'Auberge Chez Francois to be a little over priced. I have had better meals for half the price. But don't get me wrong. The food was still very good and I walked away full and happy. The price of our entrees included a whole six-course meal. My wife's steak was delicious and I had the game plate -- bison, boar, venison, partridge, and antelope. Everything we ordered came out perfectly cooked. In typical French fashion, the food was heavy and a little greasy, but that was expected. Our waiter was also great. He had a sense of humor and only came around when we needed him. They had bus boys roaming around, promptly filling our glasses. This place could have been pretentious, but didn't suffer from it at all.

L'Auberge Chez Francois is the real deal. The food is excellent, wait staff were attentive without being intrusive. If you want to have a special occasion, this is a place that will treat you with due care and make you feel special. L'Auberge Chez Francoisis a restaurant that knows the correct protocol for the dining experience and does not make you feel like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman trying to buy a dress in a shop that prejudges her. You will pay more for your meal here than an "average" restaurant, but this place is NOT average. This is a dining experience that has food and service that is worth the price.
