We have been to this restaurant many times in the past 40 yrs. The experience is always enjoyable. There are many excellent menu choices. The presentation is very good. On a nice day, lunch or dinner in the garden is a very real treat, at a first-come-first-seated basis.

I have been going to Chez Francois for 24 years and it's always great. There are few restuarants that are that consistently good but this one is. I always feel welcome. The service is excellent. The food is wonderful! I especially loved the rockfish special and the Grand Marnier souffle.

Superb in every way! We took two grown granddaughters to lunch on the birthday of one of them. The ambiance is always conducive to a pleasant occasion and this could not have been better. The food was superlative, the service even better than on previous occasions. The prix fixe has more courses with more exceptional choices than anywhere. This outstanding value came at a surprisingly low cost. Lunch even includes a complimentary glass of very respectable wine. We tried the souffle this time - and are certain to be back for more. We took a vote whether to return here or to the Cosmos Club for the other granddaughter's birthday. Auberge Francois won unanimously! It is most definitely our favorite restaurant.

This was a nostalgic visit for me. When my wife and I lived in the DC area 25 years ago, L'Auberge was our special occasion restaurant. I returned this visit with my daughter - we both happened to be attending the same conference in DC - to share with her her parents old favorite. The entire experience lived up to my memory and expectations. Service in particular was excellent, professional and attentive but not clinging. Food was very very well-prepared from quality fresh ingredients. I particular enjoyed the special entree: baked rockfish with prosciutto and a perfectly prepared neuter blanc. A classic, quality, and comfortable dining experience - well worth the nostalgic return.

We should really visit L'Auberge more often; we are always delighted with everything. This was our first visit for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised at the very affordable prix fixe menu. Made a reservation for 10ppl to celebrate 2 birthdays; wanted to enjoy a new dining experience. Restaurant was very loud; not a place to go to enjoy a quite dinner. We had to raise our voices most of the evening to hear each other. The food was very good, but between the noise level and the very slow server it was not worth the money. To be fair to the server, once we asked him to be more attentive he responded and was great the rest of the evening. The wine selection was very good as well, however, I -a female- ordered 2 very nice bottles of wine and the sommelier brought the bottles for viewing and tasting to my brother-in-law. I was not happy about being treated that way and let the sommelier know my feelings.

A recent birthday lunch for my wife at L'Auberge Chez Francois was an outstanding experience in all respects. The food was delicious, the service excellent, and the atmosphere perfectly lovely. It felt like being at a gourmet restaurant in France. The prix fixe lunch offered multiple choices of appetizers, entrees and desserts-- many more choices than I was expecting. Each course was delicious; none were disappointing. Would we go again? You bet! All I can say is "magnifique."

Fourth time we went in two years. We live partly in France and so our standards have been, perhaps, greatly affected by the superb cuisine in France (not everywhere!). For the US Chez Francois is a very good french restaurant. However, their standards do vary and I guess the day after a busy Valentine night might not have been the best choice. My wife had the onion soup and lamb chops and she loved them both. I had the seafood starter and the aiguilette of duck. I was very disappointed with both dishes. The former would have been great when it was prepared but had spent too much time in the frig, while the duck strangely tasted of corked wine....the waiter, Mark, kindly offered to replace but I had lost my appetite by then.

Superb dining experience. Highly unusual for any restaurant to have such excellent choices on the lunch menu; and the food preparation, taste, presentation and service were all that could possibly be expected or hoped for. Put high standards for "fine dining" and did so for pre fix lunch menu which is superior to many highly rated dining establishments for dinner menus. That I have not checked more boxes in #2 above is simply a reflection that our experience was for Valentine Day lunch so such as outdoor dining are not part of the experience. However, we did see a great patio area for eating, and look forward to enjoying that. Hope it will not become "kid friendly" as we prefer to have refined, quiet, elegant dining-out experiences.
