A word from Latz's By The Bay
Four generations ago the Latz family arrived at the South Jersey beach colony. Since then they have passionately operated restaurants and created a culinary environment which has delighted millions of visitors to the Jersey shore. Latz"s is based on an organic and sustainable philosophy. It is American cuisine at its best using freshly caught seafood, grass fed meat and the finest of locally grown produce. The vintage 19th century cottage offers diners water views as well as a charming garden complete with a babbling water fountain. No trip to Latz's would be complete without a tasting of one of their freshly baked desserts. Latz's is a BYOB with a menu selection that will compliment any wine or spirit that one may bring. No trip to the shore is complete with a visit to Latz's in Somers Point.Continued

  • "Restaurant was exceptionally clean and looks new not an easy place to find. House salad with great house dressing, Filet Mignon was ordinary the crab cakes disappointing."

  • "Latz's has the best brunch around and it's just as reasonable as places that are not even close too as good. Their quiche and omelets are my favorites, but don't miss the fresh scones, either. You can bring a bottle of sparkling wine and have truly memorable brunch! Dinner here is great too, food is terrific and it's a BYOB!"

  • "When we arrived our table inside wasn't ready, so we wondered into the outside area and we were pleasantly surprised to see they had outside dining and since it was such lovely night we asked if we could eat outside, they were able to seat and we had a wonderful meal in a lovely garden setting..."

  • "We had 830 reservations did not leave until 1115 .The food took forever! All courses were spaced too far apart and their excuse was They Were Busy! No one came over to give us any information except when asked where was food Therfore would not recommend it."

  • "We were at Latz's on a Saturday night. The kitchen could not accommodate the number of people who were dining. We waited almost 2 hours for our entrees to come, and only 3 (out of 4) came. We had to notify the owner after 10 minutes that there was a meal missing. When the food finally came, it was just fair ( I ordered the Ahi Tuna dinner). On the positive side, the upstairs where we sat was a lot less noisy than the downstairs dining room, which was VERY noisy. Perhaps during the week when there are not too many diners would be a better time to come to Latz's by the Bay."

  • "The food was very very good. The service was fine . The noise level was too loud. The sound bounces all over the place. The place is nicely decorated . Will go back when there is not a lot of people ."

  • "Our 4th of July dinner at Latz's was an all-around success. We dine at Latz's on a regular basis and we've yet to be disappointed. Despite the holiday frenzy, we never felt rushed. The food was excellent, and our server, Shy (who was anything but...) made our visit a special event. Latz's will remain one of our favorites!"

  • "The air conditioning on the second level of the restaurant was cranked up way to high. Dressed in summer clothing, we were actually shivering during our meal. I noticed other diners had come prepared with sweaters and jackets. Several items we ordered were not served hot (including seafood chowder and my entrée of stuffed cod.) Coffee was also not hot at the end of the meal. Service was so-so and not up to my expectations."

  • "My husband and I are in our mid-forties and were the youngest people in the restaurant. The food was very good and we had no problems with the service, but it felt like the sort of place our grandparents would go to. Mostly grey hair, no children at all. A bit too stuffy for our taste!"

  • "We were very excited to return this summer because last year we loved the food. However, it wasn't quite like last year. The food was very average. To start the bread was like a supermarket sandwich roll. There are so many excellent breads available. Bread sets the tone for the dinner...not good!! My husband ordered the pork chop which was very tough and we ordered it the way the chef recommended. I ordered the lobster special which wasn't very special. Sorry, we won't be back. There are too many good restaurants to pick from."

  • "A must try. The food is great and the place is extremely clean. Desserts are woth the price......now if they would just bring back the bread pudding."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "Let's has the best brunch around! The food is first rate; we especially like the quiche and homemade scones...can't find better anywhere. And the service and staff are great, it's like dining with your best friends. We love Latz's!"

  • "Food was good, but not exceptional for the price. The price was actually more than what was on the Open Table menu for the site. The restaurant is rather small and the tables are very close"

  • "Latz's is a local BYOB with great food and service! Some Byobs don't have their staff trained in serving wine and making sure you have what you need for whatever libation you might bring. Latz's is very good at this. The food is soooo good and make sure you get dessert. We had specials at our last visit and they were superb. Craig our waiter is Scottish and since my sister is in love with visiting Scotland, Craig gave us a lesson in Gaelic. He made a good visit outstanding. A reservation is suggested as the tables tend to be filled. If you are in the area, VISIT LATZ'S!"

  • "Wonderful place, great food and ambience. We prefer the bread that they served in the recent pass, don't care for the french bread. Also think that the astray's have gotten pricey."

  • "everything about the meal was excellent. started with a warm greeting by the owner, a very pleasant server, and excellent food. the setting was also very nice and parking which can be a problem was readily available. also a byob which is always a good thing. my favorite dish at any restaurant is ahi tuna. it was excellent and prepared exactly as ordered."

  • "I would highly recommend the filet...tender and cooked just right! Love that this place is a BYOB"

  • "We usually love Latzes. But Saturday night our special of strip steak and coconut shrimp was not up to par for the restaurant. I do not really know what kind of steak - beef it was. It had no flavor and did not appear to be strip steak. They only gave us 2 shrimp also. It was rather pricey and I feel it was not worth what we paid for it. The service was wonderful as usual. "

  • "We were looking for a quiet spot for a Saturday night dinner on a holiday weekend at the beach. Good luck, right? Someone recommended Latz's to us and we decided to try it. We were glad we did. Everything was great. The owners, Andrew and his wife, were so gracious and welcoming. The servers were very friendly and did a great job. The food was delicious. While it's a bit pricey, I felt that the portions were very generous and entrees included a house salad. It's also a BYOB, which keeps the cost down. And we never felt rushed--the timing of our meal was perfect. I'd love to go back and try some of their other specials--I really enjoyed dining there."

  • "This is a great place to get away from the noise and hustle and bustle of the larger, more well-publicized restaurants in the Atlantic City area. We enjoy the relative intimacy of Latz's, the reliable kitchen and the small but diversified menu offerings. The principal aim here is to please, and we were pleased. Highlights included the coconut shrimp, a new addition to the menu, the shrimp scampi and the osso buco, a special the night we dined. Unfortunately, the salmon in the crab cake and salmon special was over cooked. The crab cake was excellent. The fact that it is a BYOB also appeals to us. Our server, Yvonne, was very good. We will return many times before the summer is out."

  • "Lunch was fabulous with many wonderful items on the menu. The Cobb salad and salmon special we selected were both tremendous. And the service was superb. Can't wait to come back for dinner!"

  • "First time there. Would definitely go again. Were upstairs in the Tea Room a little noisy but nice . Our waitress was very nice and friendly. Did not know it was a BYOB but fortunately there is a liquor store near by. Food was excellent !! "

  • "I give Drew, owner, 5 stars for his handling of Mother's day. Heading to Ocean City this gorgeous warm Sunday, I decided to check Open Table for a nice restaurant that might have a table for 2 for lunch. Being very few good restaurants in OC, I saw Latz's & the word organic appealed to me - the menu, sounded lovely, so I booked a table. Being very close to arrival time, I called to be sure reservation was seen. He thanked me for the call & assured us he'd seat us. It was a gorgeous place and I could eat a healthy, grain-free salad topped with grilled shrimp & mango salsa and my husband enjoyed salmon filled crêpes with orange sauce & we both had their signature chowder. Service, food and ambiance all LOVELY. Next time: scones and crepes!"
