A word from Lattanzi

Diner Reviews
  • "Lattanzi has a very welcoming and warm atmosphere. The service is wonderful and the staff is very attentive. The food selections were plenty and the food was delicious. The waiters did not rush us and gave us plenty of time to make our selections. The food was hot and the presentation was good. We would definitely dine there again. "

  • "Went for a special anniversary dinner and wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere and décor were very Italian and pleasant, and the food was great. The portions were large and well prepared. We would go back again next time we are in NYC."

  • "This was my second dinner at Lattanzi. Both times were around theater performances. The food and wine offerings were delicious, the crowd seemed to agree that animated, but not overbearingly loud conversations were the norm, the staff was gracious and seemed to sincerely enjoy delivering excellent customer service, the ambience was relaxing and tasteful - a pleasant respite from the energy and noise of the theater district and Times Square. I have recommended this restaurant to all my friends who go to the theater. Lattanzi stands out among other options on Restaurant Row. "

  • "I just love this place. It's cozy without being cramped and food/service is top notch. I could eat here everyday. Cannot wait to return. If I lived in NYC I would be there weekly!!!"

  • "In general, the experience was Good. The food was very good. It came quickly after we ordered and it was authentic and as we each expected it. There were (2) key things that occurred to dilute the experience; the first was that the dining area didn't start to fill until 6pm, yet the latest we could get a reservation on a Saturday night was 4:45pm (dining room only ~ 25% full). My suggestion would be to reconfirm your reservations if you are looking for a later time. The other negative experience was that the service, mainly from the waiter not the service staff, was fair. The waiter seemed disinterested in us and a bit rude, perhaps this is common-place but not in my opinion for this level of a restaurant."

  • "We had a delicious meal! Don't pass on the fried artichocs that are a real RToman specialty. Everything was just right: Servie was very attentive and the somelier trook his time in explaining the different flavors of wines and directed us in the choice of a delicious red wine! Very reasonable prices too. We will defnitely be back!"

  • "I recommend this spot for a good pre-theater lunch or dinner. Fish dishes were excellent and the service was correct but not overbearing. A shared salad special was delicious. I'd like to go back for the Roman Jewish dishes which I understand are served after the theater rush."

  • "We often make the trip to NYC for a fine dining experience and a Braodway matinee. We have been coming to Lattanzi for years and it NEVER disappoints. The specials are always a culinary treat and the service and wine a delight. Really great people making the visit well worth it!"

  • "Enjoyed our delicious lunch before theater. Would have liked a pre-theater menu as the lunch was rather expensive."

  • "have been dining here for years but Lattanzi is not the restaurant it used to be. Waiters do not care and are not attentive. Food is very disappointing. Would not come back."

  • "Excellent pre-theater dinner. Excellent service- we went off menu for one person and it was not an issue at all. Very accommodating. Service was quick but not too quick (we were not rushed from one course to the next). Food was fresh and perfectly flavored. Prices were very reasonable for Midtown Manhattan."

  • "House special artichoke was well prepared and very good. Daily specials red snapper and veal dishes were wonderful. Fruit filled sorbett's were a fine finish to a great meal."

  • "This is a restaurant my family has frequented for many years now. We are from California, but every time any one of us goes to New York, we hit Lattanzi's - typically prior to a show. This time we went after a fabulous Broadway show. The location is excellent, and the restaurant is wonderful. My father & step-mother brought each of his children and his granddaughter there on a variety of occasions. "We have to order the artichoke's" he would insist. They have both since passed, but the tradition continued upon our visit this year. It was late, and we were going to order just coffees and dessert but then we looked at the menu and said "we have to order the artichoke's" and so we did. As well as our desserts & coffee."

  • "I have been to Latanzi's throughout the years and it has consistently maintained first rate food, service and ambiance. I recommend Latanzi's highly. A star of Restaurant Row!"

  • "I have enjoyed eating at Lattanzi's and the food is consistently good;however, at a lunch visit this last Saturday I was surprised to learn that the wait staff would not accommodate a request to add a chicken breast to a lunch salad. As chicken was on the menu and the guest was willing to pay an additional fee, it seemed unreasonable to ask the patron to order a complete chicken dinner and the desired salad. Restaurants routinely strive to meet patron requests . In this case we were told emphatically that this was not possible at. Lattanzi's . Not a user friendly environment."

  • "We really enjoyed our pre-matinee lunch at Lattanzi. Everyone loved the Jewish style artichoke appetizer and the entrees were also very good. Service was excellent and well timed. It can get very noisy and crowded at the pre-theater evening performance, so this was a pleasant surprise. Will be back!"

  • "We really enjoyed Lattanzi's food and ambience. The wait staff was professional and friendly. I loved my Beef carpaccio salad and Halibut entree. My husband had the veal entree and was very happy too. I would definitely come again. I would recommend it to anyone as well."

  • "Wonderful food, service and ambiance fit for a special birthday which we celebrated both for my 65th and my daughter's 18th. Absolute gem of a restaurant."

  • "Lattanzi is a wonderful restaurant! We always eat there before we go to the theatre when we are in NYC! The artichoke appetizer is one of their signature dishes, and it is a wonderful dish! It is artichoke hearts, and they are sautéed in olive oil and other spices. Pit is a scrumptious appetizer! I had the swordfish for my entree, and I wasn't disappointed! It was prepared with olives, capers, and cherry tomatoes, and it was refreshing and delicious! I recommend this restaurant! The service is also terrific! The ambience is adorable and romantic."

  • "The New York Times writer recently wrote about 60-something women being ignored or shunted to the worst table. That happened here when we arrived for a pre-theater meal. I asked for a table change and was moved up front. Other than that, the experience was fine and the artichoke specialty appetizer good and the pasta delicious. Tiramisu was a bit disappointing, though. There is no pre-theater menu, but you can order half portions."

  • "We attended the restaurant for a pre theatre dinner and must say we were disappointed with the quality of the food and the service. It was fair but not the usual Lattanzi excellent meal. We brought out of town guests and did not feel we experienced the best the restaurant had to offer. At the price we would have been better elsewhere."

  • "Good food in a great location; however, there is a complete lack if service and attention to customers. I will not return"

  • "The famous artichoke was too fried and the pasta too hard and tasteless. Very charming ambience and good and friendly service."

  • "I went after the matinee so it wasn't crowded but it did begin to fill up as we were leaving. No wonder, the restaurant was spectacular. The service was absolutely 5-Star. The meals were so, so delicious. Great wine! We simply had a wonderful evening and will definitely go back again.! Thank you."

  • "We had a great pre-theater dinner - food delicious, pretty decor, quiet enough to talk, and service excellent without being obtrusive."

  • "This really felt like being in an authentic Italian restaurant, tables not to close together, and a warm atmosphere. My only problem was with the fried artichoke appetizer---most of it was inedible as the choke leaves were not clipped on the ends, and was really not prepared in the true Roman way, as expected. I will suggest to my friends."

  • "I really enjoyed the wonderful service. The wait staff went over and above the call of duty. The food was delicious. I specially enjoyed the appetizer of rolled mozzarella with tomato, esparagus and basil. The house cabernet was very good. I also loved the decor, especially the quaint lighting above every table with the embroidered lampshades."

  • "This is serious Italian restaurant with the possibility of having Roman Jewish Ghetto cuisine (after 8 PM) which is not well known in New York. The artichokes alla Giudea are light as feathers and one can become addicted to the house made matzo. The restaurant is in the heart of the theatre district but I would recomend dining after 8PM when the crowd has thinned and the special menu is available."
