I went to LQ on a Saturday
evening. I ordered the Mofongo de Camarones, which was pretty good, not excellent. One member of our party, a vegetarian, ordered the Vegetales tacos, which were designated as "vegan" on the menu. The menu said they included black beans, but when they were served, they did not include black beans. When we asked the waitress why black beans were not included, she said that was because the black beans were cooked in some sort of meat-based broth and were, therefore, not vegan or vegetarian. Then don't include them as an ingredient in a "vegan" dish! Not a good place for vegetarians. (The spinach empanadas are also not vegan.) (Also, the women's restroom was unsanitary.)"

We booked a table at Latin
Quarters for Sunday, Feb. 16th at 6:30 pm which was confirmed by Open Table. Upon arriving at the restaurant at 6:20 pm there was a handwritten sign on the door stating "Closed this evening". The next day there was a groupon advertised! I wonder if they will be honoring those!"

We did not realize how casual this
place was. We had gone out for a very nice dinner, only to be confronted with plastic tables and linoleum floor. Food was supposed to be good so we stayed. Waitress never brought us water we requested. My wife's meal came without guacamole that was on menu; when she requested some, waitress said chef wasn't making any more that night (it was 8:00!). Then, when we had finished, waitress brought out small cupful of guac! Food was okay, but many better Mexican/Spanish restaurants around. We won't be back."

Took 15 minutes to get water and a
menu. Then had to repeat the order many times and negotiate to get a gin martini. Food was OK, but not worth the mishigas."

Wanted to try this restaurant
which was new to the Open Table list. Pleasantly surprised. The ceviche was tasty with lots of fresh seafood. It came with a small platter of fried plantains which were crispy and not greasy. The spinach empanadas where good, enough for a meal. We each had tacos, shrimp and beef. Very fresh and simple, the way we like them! I had a glass of White wine (not much to chose from as far as wine goes), but was Told they were working on the house wines list. We enjoyed the evening, and will be back!"

Food and service above-par.
Restaurant not crowded when we were there for dinner, but we hear it's lively for lunch and when the DJ are there. Nice atmosphere, authentic Latin food. Prices not bad considering large portions."

What I love most about Latin
Quarters is the menu. I have been able to expand my experience beyond Americanized-Mexican food. A painting on the wall of the dining area shows off a number of country names, many of which are represented in the menu. You will find more South American Latin influences here than Central American. My favorite menu item is the Empanada Columbinanas. A corn meal empanada with a garlic plantain filling combined with a meat of your choice (chicken or beef). These were fantastic and with 3 empanadas, this appetizer could easily be a meal for someone or shared among a group. Wonderful ambience, attentive staff, this is truly a hidden gem in North Raleigh. We look forward to returning."

Unique, great potential. Food was
tasty and pretty different from other restaurants in the area. May have to return on salsa dancing night! Very friendly staff. Fun kind of place."
