A word from L'Atelier d'Argentine
L’Atelier d’Argentine is contemporary Argentinean in food and style as if torn out of the heart of Buenos Aires. Rooted in the history and nestled in the urban and regional landscape, the genuine Argentinean cuisine is distinct with a strong flavorful identity —easy to understand and even easier to love.
L’Atelier d’Argentine’s menu is honest, focusing on the quality of the core ingredient and a true reflection of contemporary Argentinian food.

L’Atelier d’Argentine offers 4 to 6 lucky patrons the chance to discover the flavours of Argentina. Seated right by the kitchen and the wine cellar, the lucky few have a privileged access to Chef Natalia Machado who gladly accompanies them on a six-course culinary experience.
Each course features a typical dish, and an Argentinian wine pairing.

The menu changes every week. Upon reservation only, each journey promises to be unique. The price, $95 per person, includes all food and wine.

  • "We had guests from out of town and choose L'Atelier d'Argentine from Open Table suggestions. The service was prompt and attentive, offered a diversified menu, great wine list well priced and our food was a great surprised. Creative presentation, very tasty every guest was very happy with their food selection and all highly recommend returning and this was definitely a great . One of our guests has a severe shell fish allergy and the manager and all staff were very attentive and there was no issue with dealing with allergies."

  • "I'd heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, but had wanted to try it for myself. I thought the food was delicious, and it far exceeded my expectations. Everything was incredibly well seasoned and very flavorful. They also had a number of wonderful, filling and decadent vegetarian options on the menu, which was a very pleasant surprise! The restaurant can be difficult to find, but it's worth the search!"

  • "My second visit to L'Atelier d'Argentine, and it was phenomenal. The decor is beautiful, the views of the Old Port are gorgeous, the staff is incredibly friendly and food of course is... WOW."

  • "Location is good. Service is very friendly, effective and courteous. Food was tasty, but has nothing to do with real Argentinean food. The wine list is all Argentinean, but at 3 times the SAQ prices which is too much in my opinion. The meat I ate was awesome though! Probably one of the best steaks in Montreal. It's a good restaurant overall, but food is simply not typical. It's mostly a new approach to Argentinean food."

  • "We arrived for an Open Table dinner reservation at 9:30 pm and were seated immediately. Staff were excellent; our server was a bit inexperienced and not quite as attentive as one might expect, but made up for it in his willingness and enthusiasm. Food was very tasty and well-presented; the beef short ribs arrived lukewarm at the table - when this was brought to the server's attention, he asked if he could return them to the kitchen, however I declined as I was too hungry, and they were still very good. The manager had been keeping a good eye on the customers' tables and was very responsive, offering a dessert without charge as a very nice and unexpected courtesy. Fabulous poached pear for dessert."

  • "Great restaurant. Food is good, service is good, great ambiance. The only thing it would need, is a little refresh of the menu. Other than that, no complaints"

  • "I took three friends to L'Atelier for an early pre-concert dinner during the Jazz Festival. Service was attentive, food was very good, and desserts were creative and a satisfying end to our meal. I look forward to returning."

  • "The atmosphere is great but that is the best part of this place. The food is good but for the price you're paying it is not up to par. The wine list was extensive. What rubbed me the wrong way was that the waiter, when asked for his opinion, obviously looked at the prices before picking the most expensive option... I hate that..."

  • "Très belle expérience. Beau restaurant, décor lounge, ambiance festive. Assiettes généreuses, savoureuses à souhait et présentation réussie. Bon rapport qualité/prix. Belle découverte."

  • "Service was horrible. No cuttleries on the table, even after 3 demands. Food not good. Meat covered with fat."

  • "Good service, good ambiance and nice decor but their steak - supposedly a house specialty - was very disappointing. And I'm not talking about the way it was cooked - which was fine. I'm talking quality of the meat (sold at a hefty price, to boot). Frankly, I can get better tasting steak at Costco. I was part of a group of 6 and all those who ordered steak (4 out of the other 5) were of the same view. I don't intend to return."

  • "The restaurant was really cool and loved the huge windows. Great location! The food on the other hand was very disappointing. We were a group of 7 and only 1 person really enjoyed her meal which was a fish dish. The beef dishes were all over-cooked and very bland. Nice wine list. Will not recommend this restaurant."

  • "I was looking forward to eating at L'Atelier D'Argentine for over a year, and it met and exceeded all expectations. I had previously dined at executive chef Natalia Machado's Azul Bistro when she was in NYC, and when I found out she was moving to Montreal, I made a note to make sure I ate at L'Atelier d"Argentine when I traveled to Montreal. A special scallop appetizer was divine and the striped bass superb. So if you are not a steak person, but you love great food, don't think that an Argentine restaurant won't work for you. Five stars for everything here."

  • "Armed with the warning of the lovely Chef/owner that Argintines eat more than just beef and not everyone dances the Tango, we came curious to see what else they do. The restaurant is chic, modern, all windows, chrome and quiet lighting, mnot a a Gaucho in sight. The food is inventive and delicious. I had the chorizo appetizer and, torn between the 10 ounce steak and the lamb took my server,s advice and opted for the lamb. Great choice; the serving was ample, render and cooked to perfection. My wife had the striped bass and loved it. From our table we could see the waters of the Old Port, something not seen very often in Montreal. L'Atelier d'Argentine is a delight, the service excellent and the food excellent and innovative. I will be back."

  • "We travel a lot we always look for an Argentine Steakhouse for our first dinner out in whatever city we are in. It is always fun and always good food. L'Atelier was no exception to the rule, we loved it! We came in a bit frazzled because our cab couldn't drop us off close due to a bike race. They were so nice and helpful, explained the menu and were very attentive the whole evening. The food was fabulous! Our only complaint was the music was a bit to loud but that would not deter us from another visit!"

  • "My friends and I found this place while wandering around on our first night in Montreal. It was delicious, although we just ordered the entrees assuming they would be large appetizers that would double as a dinner like in the US, but they were quite small so we got dessert as well. Everything was amazing. I ordered the melon gizpacho and panqueques which had wonderful flavor combinations that were pleasantly surprising. "

I would definetly recommend this restaurant to anyone who can appreciate good service and delicious fine cuisine. A cozy restaurant perfect for a date night or special occasions. I'm already planning a second visit."

  • "Friday night dinner for three. From cocktails to "we'll skip desert, we can't eat a bite more", everything was fabulous. We enjoy beef, and we ate perfection. Staff (thank you Felipe G) was very knowledgeable, no hesitation as to what's on the menu and with recommendations. Noise level maintained at a reasonable level all through the evening. Larger groups were seated in a seperate "lounge area" of the restaurant : great idea. Bathrooms were spotless, and that's a big + for me. To revisit for sure."

  • "I had a great late date at L'Atelier d'Argentine the other night. The food is unique and of of a high quality. Great win selection but lacking in terms of beers. After 10:30 is the amazing heures de Buenos Ares $22.50 for a starter and entree. Service was a little lacking in that waiters were making a lot of noise dragging chairs around the dining room in the evening. This wouldn't be a big problem except for that no customers needed those chairs, it was late and we were the only diners in there. They could have waited until we were done. Waiters also made my partner uncomfortable by staring at her as they walked by. "

  • "Small things should be added/ changed to the menu: - a better description of the meat/ the meat cut which are offered, - propose mashed potatoes and/ or a boiled potato and cream as a side dish, - cheese cakes/ dulce del leche as desserts And then it will be perfect! "

  • "Tried all the desserts and they were all excellent. Tried all appetizers except charcuterie platter and they were disappointing. Fritters and chorizo were okay. Highlight was the accompanying greens. Octopus was slathered with an unappetizing lavender colored sauce. So disappointing on the savory side"
