The restaurant was lovely & quaint & the service was excellent. We started with the garlic goat cheese & sundried tomatoes which was delicious! Next we shared the hearts of romaine salad with the bleu cheese dressing that was to die for. The basket of bread was delicious as well. Unfortunately, the Dominican style New York steak I ordered was, no exaggeration, the toughest piece of meat I have ever had. I literally was sawing on my meat (cooked med-rare) until my finger hurt and I had to laugh. Once I got a bite, I had to chew & chew & chew; it was VERY disappointing. The sauce was delicous, the vegies were AWESOME & potatoes were good. As good as everything else was, the main course was so disappointing, I don't know if I would go back.

What a shame!!! Not the restaurant---the fact that the Lasher's have decided to call it quits after 16 years. They are going out with a bang as everyone (three different groups of diners) were unanimous that they are putting their best foot forward on the way out! Great fried green tomatoes (signature appetizer) and we were there on prime rib night; not my favorite dish, but the way they prepare it makes it a must. Just a superb dining experience and the feel of the 1920s craftsman house makes it unique. Ray Lasher's better half was our server and she is a prize! We'll miss the place on our 3-times a year convention in Long Beach. Keep an eye out as they may reappear in another incarnation sometime down the road.

Went to dinner with 3 other friends. Free range chicken was excellent as always as was the garlic mash potatoes. A friend from out of state ordered one of the specials, the pork chop which was dry and almost asked to take it back. What sorta made up for it was the sauce on top of it. Don't order the pork chops unless you are willing to wait and hope that the chef gets it right. We've ordered the pork chops before, but I think there was a different chef and it was pretty good. Service was good and the drinks are excellent. I heard they are selling the business, so hopefully the new owners will keep most of the recipes.

Lasher's is a great place. We had a special request for our restervation to be outside because we wanted to bring the family dog. Lasher's was very fast in calling us to let us know that because it was Mother's Day that we might have to wait for patio seating because it is limited. Well, we lucked out and we were seated immediately on the patio and we have a wonderful Mother's Day brunch! My mom said that she'll remember this Mother's day fondly for a very long time. Thank you, Lasher's! Oh, and by the way, the meals are out of this world...what a culinary delight!

The food was overpriced for what you got. We went for Easter Brunch and spent $44 a person for orange juice (you did have the choice of getting a Mimosa), couple slices of bread, small bowl of soup, eggs benedict, and a small dessert. I was not terribly impressed by the food. It was just okay. Nothing spectacular. Will not be going back.

I have food allergies and the waitstaff and chef were very good about advising me on my best choices. It is a bit pricey, but with the quality of the cuisine and the attentive service it's more than worth the price.

  • Where's the beets?

    Dined on 3/24/2012
I ordered the house special beet salad for the evening. I ate 2 bites and wondered where the beets were? Our server brought the salads back to the kitchen for additional beets. She explained that the chopped beets 'settled' at the bottom of their serving dish in the kitchen. She was quick to correct the problem. The beets were finely chopped. Shouldn't a beet special have the more traditional larger size pieces served, instead of small hard to see chopped ones? Overall, we enjoyed Lashers and wouldn't ding them for this. I look forward to returning. FYI, they did comp us a dessert.
