LaSalette RestaurantDeliciousGreat hidden gem! Not very often you find Portuguese cuisine and Lasalette did a great job.. Traditional dishes with a elegant twist, all was delicious. Don't miss the Caldo Verde or the Sorbets, amoung many other things. Great outdoor patio.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVisiting an old friendWe have enjoyed La Salette since it first opened on the outskirts of Sonoma. We like the current location just steps off of the Sonoma Plaza and consider it to be one of our favorite places we to share with out of town guests. The range of cuisine is very interesting in that it reflects not only Portuguese influences but also takes advantage of Portugal's "colonial empire". I think we have and everything on the menu over the years and it is always a struggle to make choices. The Portuguese wines are, of course, very welcome additions to the normal Sonoma restaurant list of great California wines.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHighest EndorsementWe visited LaSalette on a recent trip from Portland, based on a friend's suggestion. It was a delightful experience - terrific food.
Since we live in restaurant nirvanna, it's hard for us both to be impressed, but they do it here. We started w/ their green Gazpacho - togehter with the amazing dinner rolls - which was enough to tell us this chef is inspired. My partner had the Salt Cod baked w/ potatoes and onion, which was delicious. I had the Portuguese Fisherman's stew, as a lover of this type of dish. It was truly enchanted. Great wine list, too, of course. They sell a beautiful cookbook, which I had to buy, and can also highly recommend.
Not to be missed if you are anywhere nearby.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best Portuguese food I'veThe best Portuguese food I've had since visiting the country. Delicious, authentic, Fado music playing in the background, lovely colors, tables, dishes. And the food! We couldn't stop eating. A wonderful experience.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, new to the palateThe dishes we had were new flavors and well prepared. There were many flavor surprises that go on and on. Love this place when in Sonoma.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMfantastic food, a real gemWe had four separate dinners, each was well done and exceeded our expectations. Service was attentive and friendly. Spectacular experience!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant better than everSecond visit to this restaurant in a couple of years as a visitor from San Francisco and we were pleased with improved presentation and refinement of the menu. We both loved our appetizers and entrees. My fish was cooked perfectly and the grilled corn and collard greens were the perfect counterpoint to the bass. Husband's hearty Portuguese cassoulet was delicious but definitely for meat lovers. Highly recommended.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it... Bursting with flavor,La Sallette delivers a wonderful Portugese meal every bite was a delight.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMlasalette was awesomeIncredible food. From the small plates to the entrees, every single thing we ordered was amazing. We had 7 small plates, an appetizer, and an entree all split. Un-friggin-believable food. Do yourself a favor and go!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodOur entrées were delicious though the beverages and starters left something to be desired. The salad had a very fancy name, but it was just a caesar - let's call a spade a spade. Overall, we may not go back but it was decent and the food was good.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFish and ChipsI ordered the Fish and Chips and was pleasantly surprised with the light breading - normally Fish and Chips are heavy tasting, but this version was light and tasty. Loved it!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good and wasFood was very good and was my first time and definatly would return.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPortuguese surprise in SonomaJust off the square in Sonoma you'll find a small outpost of Portugal cuisine. Especially after a few days of menus described as "Californian" , a nice change of pace. Special offered was a whole Branzino. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Spouse opted for a series of small plate appetizers which were all wonderful. For the dairy free crowd desserts were off limits...except for some sorbet choices. The only disappointment of the evening.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful lunch hereWe had a wonderful lunch here while in Sonoma. The food and service were excellent. Highly recommend the linguica, scallops appteizer, and the chocolate fetish desert. Mmmm ...5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPortugal BeckonsAnother stellar recommendation from our innkeeper! Wonderful tastes and delightful wine pairing. A must visit if you are in Sonoma Valley!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMpleasant surprisePlaudits. The amuse bouche was unexpected and delicious. The staff could not have been more attentive. Each course was inspired. Wine list small but well selected and reasonable. Price a bargain. Highly recommended.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dinner once more.We ate at LaSalette on Saturday night. It was a lovely night outside with many people dining on the patio. We opted for indoors. The sea bass I ordered was done perfect and presented on a bed of corn with collard greens. Absolutely delicious. My husband had the Feijoada Completa (Brazilian national dish) which he loved. Our appetizer of cod cakes was fabulous. As always, service is wonderful and you feel very welcomed when you arrive. We have been dining here for years and the quality never changes. I highly recommend it for a different night out.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNovo Portuguese flair in SonomaDining out on a whim after a relaxing trip in Napa, our stomachs replete with meals created with care & finesse at Redd and Terra, we were hoping for a Mediterranean counterbalance to the panasiatic flavours we had enjoyed there. LaSalette delivered with dishes that wafted the scents of the ocean & international ports visited by the Portuguese. We enjoyed the flash-baked crispy sardines & thechorico crusted scallops (fresh-caught). Both dishes were expertly prepared, fragrant & flavourful. Our mains were phenomenal - the baked salt cod casserole & a truly outstanding pork tenderloin stuffed with figs, almonds and olives (wow!), served with cheese pototo croquettes (decadent). The staff were friendly & efficient & the wine list impressive.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique dining experienceI was worried after seeing the menu online that it would be a bit out of the box for me. I loved everything I had and enjoyed eating things that were new to me. Everything was well seasoned and had a lovely presentation. We ate on the outdoor patio and thought it was lovely. server was excellent as well.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMone of sonoma's best!only problem was they never received my open table reservation.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place...Second visit was as good if not better than our first. The food is delicious..... The service exemplary...4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious mussels with unexpecteddelicious mussels with unexpected strips of tasty sausage, delicious broth. caesar salad also very good. service a little slow in the beginning, we waited for about 15 minutes with no attention. they are a little short staffed when the outdoor tables are all in use. a nice experience, but nothing to write home about. the indoor seating is ok, but a little dark and not much special. outdoors is good in warm weather, and was packed saturday night. my companions had the lamb, which they enjoyed. i give it 3.5 stars overall, 4 for the food and 3 for the service.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and an amazingAmazing food and an amazing staff! We were only in Sonoma for 5 nights and we visited LaSalette 3 times!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery interesting menu, everythingVery interesting menu, everything perfectly prepared, ezcellent service.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the flavorExceptional flavors. This was a special birthday dinner, and we were hoping for an intimate "romantic" experience. This place is more of a vibrant, and quite noisy place, perhaps more suitable for groups bigger than two, and not the most ideal place for an intimate date due to tables being very close to each other (we heard every other conversation around us). :).4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh, Delicious and So NutritiousWe had an excellent meal, and the service was most efficient. While I usually think of Portuguese food as somewhat heavy, our dishes were so fresh and delightful. The asparagus salad was beautifully presented and rather than being smothered in dressing, there were just little dabs of dressing and bits of prosciutto-like ham for aded flavor - very tasty. The fresh wild sea bass was on a bed on collard greens and corn, and each part was cooked to perfection. The collards were finely shredded and very tasty, and the dish was beautiful as well as most delicious. We can't wait to go again soon and enjoy the outdoor dining.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and the PortugueseExcellent food and the Portuguese cuisine was a nice change! The wine selection was very good too, We had a wonderful dinner to end our vacation. Highly recommended.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great staff.Great food and great staff. Very friendly and will explain the menu thoroughly.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMCozy and intimate feel withCozy and intimate feel with wood fired oven. Small bar where you can watch chefs prepare your meal. Great service with very good wine choices. I had the wood oven roasted sea bass, prepared excellently! Moist and flavorful. Would definitely go back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI love LaSalette. It is aI love LaSalette. It is a welcome change from all the Italian and French food in wine country. I love the little rolls they serve, I love the wine list, I love the sardines and I love the fish and chips. The prices are resonable and the staff is friendly and helpful. Totally unpretentious.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely restaurant in a quietLovely restaurant in a quiet back alley off Sonoma's main square. The food was fresh and delicious and the service professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Portuguese ExperienceExcellent service. Great Portuguese food with other selections for those who prefer alternatives.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMEssential Dining in SonomaLa Salette is one of our absolute favorite restaurants in the Sonoma County area. We might be a little biased because of our family's Portuguese heritage, but really that doesn't come into play here. This is just flat out one of the best restaurants of any genre in the area and is a must-dine when we have friends visiting.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPortuguese! It was an awesomePortuguese! It was an awesome experience all around. Food was everything expected and then some. I am a fish / seafoodie. When they said the special was a whole Branzino I was sold. I was not disappointed. Plenty of other options if not a seafoodie.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best dining experienceThe best dining experience we've had in Sonoma in some time. I would have given them 6 stars if I could.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat DiningThe place was absolutely fabulous and the food was to die for (hopefully not to soon) but we really enjoyed the ambiance and the very friendly staff. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPortugese Food meets NorthernPortugese Food meets Northern California Farm-to-Table. Nice fish dishes (including Mediterrenean staples such as Octopus). Some rustic tapas options (pig's feet terrine, blood sausage...). Nice, warm place just off sonoma plaza, well-curated winelist. worth going.3/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall, crowded...but still romanticTwo of us ordered two appetizers, a main course to be shared and a bottle of wine. It was a first meeting for us, so we wanted to talk for a little while, and the server was gracious in her being available without hovering. The apps were sent out one at a time, along with small plates, so we were able to share each course. The main, an excellent spicy fisherman's stew, was served in individual, stylish, slanted bowls.
Good coffee, nice tea selection, decent wine list. Our syrah was surprisingly good.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Dining ExperienceI would highly recommend this place, service superb, food excellent and attention to detail. The entire staff was very attentive to our every need. We will definitely go back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss on a Sonoma tripI found this experience to be wonderful, and the presentation of all the dishes was fabulous.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Sonoma's BestLaSalette is one of our favorite restaurants in Sonoma. The food is always prepared and presented with great care and the flavors of the Portuguese-inspired offerings are a delight. The wine list is not extensive but what is there is very good and offered to complement the menu. The service is first rate, being at once friendly, helpful and respectful of the dining experience. Good weather allows dining on the patio which is a very pleasant experience.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Find!LaSallette is a great restaurant with a unique menu. If you are visiting northern California wine country and are tired of "californian-American" or Asian cuisine- this is a great place. The menu had a great selection of traditional Portugese dishes- all was great, and we would definitely recommend this restaurant !3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sonoma FindWe had a salad and the sea bass special, both were excellent.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy Portuguese cuisineTake a wander down the little alley in Sonoma. This gem of a restaurant has wonderful authentic Portuguese food and personal service. Outside may be too hot on a super sunny day, but the inside is fine in either hot or cold weather. We love it and it's a regular for us for lunch or dinner.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMYou cannot go wrong here.We have been to LaSalette 5 or 6 times and will absolutely return again. The food is perfect for a wintry evening, as is the pace of service. We had uniquely spiced butternut squash soup and their caldo verde soup as well which were all great and simultaneously presented at the table. Specials and standard entrees (scallops, sea bass, beef sopas) were all nicely prepared and presented with good portion sizes. Desserts and port list were interesting and very good. Bread, water, and wine service were very personal and timely. A terrific spot in the heart of Sonoma.12/2/2012 12:00:00 AM
