Las Palomas Restaurant-BarFresh food on a great outdoor patioLas Palomas sells super fresh Mexican food and great drinks, and they have a wonderful outdoor patio that is shaded. My friend loved her ceviche and thought it was the best she had ever had. I had a fajita salad and the chicken was spicy and delicious and the salad was cheesy. Their house margaritas are a tad limey (sour more than sweet) and refreshing in the Texas heat. We took about 20% of it home and had it for lunch the next day. Every bit of it delicious. The flan is the best in Austin. We are trying to get Mariecarmen to make paella a regular item for Saturday evenings.
Service started ab it slow, but then turned into the usual great service.

We were looking for classic Mexican fare and Las Palomas did not disappoint. We were all very pleased with the quality of the food, the attention and enthusiasm from the wait staff and the comfortable dining environment. So many of the newer generation Mexican eateries are a full frontal assault on the senses. By contrast, Las Palomas presented a wide variety of delicious, classic Mexican ( not Tex-Mex ) dishes that satisfied without overwhelming. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel at home. We all commented that it was "just what we wanted" and we "wouldn't have changed a thing". So, even though its not my neighborhood, we drove to eat there. LOVED it. SO glad we did. Everyone at the table had fantastic food. The service was top notch.
