Las CampanasGood but no greatThe food was good, and the atmosphere was great. We expected much more authentic food, like homemade tortillas or items on the menu that are not typically found in every chain mexican restaurant. The food was OK but a bit of a let down.
My husband and I had a great time and the ambiance was wonderful. The next day we found another mexican restaurant around the corner. Unfortunately it is like many Mexican restaurants; in- authentic cuisine and a boring menu. I chose the most "traditional" dish - the chili verde pork. It was cooked to perfection but the rice was eehh and black beans were boring. The guacamole made at the table was very good as the avocados were perfectly ripe and the rest of the ingredients gave them a lovely flavor.
The set up makes you feel as if you are the only table so there was plenty of privacy. The wait staff was fantastic. We paid with cash, two credit cards and a charge to a room and our head waiter accepted this graciously. All the food was lukewarm. The chips were cold. The tortilla soup was a broth with 2 tiny pieces of ckn. Everytime we needed something we had to flag someone down. The service was BAD, the food lukewarm.We were told from an employee in The Mission Inn because of the heat we could sit inside the Lounge. He said tell them at the gate. I told the manager and he said NO!! He bit my head off. I felt he was very rude, it's not what you say, it's how you say it. He did come over later and apologize and said he could accomodate us just not on Mother's Day. Well hello that is when I would try to!! Sorry Mission Inn. I only wish they would've had the "anniversary margarita" that was offered back in March - that was THE BEST!
We decided to take Mom here the Saturday before Mother's Day to avoid the crowds, and we able to find free parking within walking distance. Everything was great, although the tip money disappeared from the table before the meal was over - I have NO idea if the waiter took it early or it blew away, or what. Mom would've preferred that the chile rellano be served with sauce, but she still enjoyed the overall experience.
Great place for a group or special occasion. The food was excellent and we had excellent service. This happened to be my Wife's Birthday which falls on Cinco de Mayo, so a Mexican restaurant was in order. While I have ben to the other restaurants at the Mission Inn, this was the first time to Las Campanas. We were on time and they took us right in. Our waitress took our drink order right away, then we waited. The food and drinks were great. But for some reason service seemed very slow, might have been the Holiday. But the restaurant was not as crowded as I would have expected. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were seated pretty much right at that time! Otherwise we would have had to wait 45 min to an hour to be seated.
