Diner Reviews
  • "Las Campanas is a lovely spot for dinner with friends. The food was well prepared and the service was friendly and efficient."

  • "The food was great and if you go at night it really looks cool. Be aware that it is all outdoor seating if that means anything to you. The whole Mission Inn area is great and if you are in the mood for Mexican food you can't go wrong with this one."

  • "The guacamole is a must. The food is good and the atmosphere is very nice. The service has been good every time I've dined here. There's usually a wait on weekends so make reservations ahead of time."

  • "Las Campanas left for Rancho Cucamonga and returned to the Mission Inn in Riverside. This was a business move because Rancho Cucamonga financially could not support the restaurant with competing Mexican cuisine at the highest prices. There were comparable Mexican cuisine offered that had more value at lower prices. The move back to the Mission Inn allows average Mexican cuisine to be rare and pricing can remain due to the clientele that can afford higher prices for standard food. What is important here is that it is not the food that matters, it is the ambiance. The conversations and the setting will cloud the actual tasting when paired with an adult beverage."

  • "Good food and service, but there was a stray cat that some of the patrons were feeding. We got the sense that it wasn't the first time the cat had been there. Kinda weird trying to have a nice meal with the lady sitting across from us feeding a random stray cat. After we requested a seat away from the cat it was a nice meal."

  • "Great service! Delicious food. Customized dinners to accommodate diners who eat gluten-free. Highly recommend and will definitely return!"

  • "Food was great but had to wait a long time to receive service. After the waiter finally came to address us, service was good. Ok for outdoor dining but would prefer indoor; no flies, no dropping on table or in plates of plant life surrounding your dining experience. Will come back but won't put this experience at the top of the list for future dining."

  • "food and service were excellent; blended Margarita's were delicious and large; I would suggest ordering the smaller size if you are not a big drinker."

  • "The service was good, food delivery was slow but kitchen was very busy and we were in no hurry, and waitress explained situation. Food was very good. The passion fruit margaritas were disappointing, just not as flavorful as one would expect for a special."

  • "The restaurant was not busy at all and it took 15 min after we were seated before someone asked what we wanted to drink. Being Father's Day it would of been nice to have my husbands food served first but we had to ask where it was? Very poor service. Once food was served we never saw our waitress again except for when she brought the check. We had to ask for a box for leftovers twice. Very disappointed in service. Have to say it was our first time and last for eating at this restaurant. We would always see our waitress standing around talking to other staff but not concerned about our table."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, We both enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and service, the restaurant was a bit noisy due to a child in the next table. We will return."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Every time I try this restaurant the food gets worse. The only reason the still come here to eat from time to time is the setting. On a warm night in the summer, the ambiance is very nice. However, you take your chances with the food and service. Last time, the guacamole was good and one meal was good while the other three meals were lukewarm. We sent them back and they returned hotter but not much better. There is nothing I would recommend on the menu. I would suggest thT the "chef" go back to cooking school."

  • "Everything was great here, been here a few times and this was the first time I reserved because the wait is always long. I suggest reserving a table or going early, especially on the weekends."

  • "4 of us each had a type of fajitas, shrimp, steak and chicken and they were really very greasy. We had cheesecake and there was only one kind with a bright green fondant on the top...very strange..."

  • "The outdoor dining is very pretty, but the food is tasteless. Disappointed because food is pricey and not worth it."

  • "Las Campanas was great! Had reservations and only had to wait for about 5 mins after arrival. The outdoor setting is beautiful and serene. It took a little while for the food and check to be brought out but we didn't mind. It was such a great environment that we enjoyed being able to hang out and not feel rushed. Also, the food was hot right out of the oven. Fresh and tasty. I had the vegetarian fajitas and he ordered the chicken tacos-we thought both were great! I will definitely be back! "

  • "I took my husband here to celebrate his birthday. What a perfect place! We visit The Mission Inn often but this was our first time dinning here. The food was great, service was timely and everyone was nice. Overall, we loved our night and time there. Perfect for date night and lover's"

  • "We rather disappointed with the food and service. The waiters were very sweet and cordial but v e r y slow. I was very disappointed in our crispy taco plate.... absolutely no flavor in either the chicken or beef and the tortillas were stale. For the money, way over priced. The margaritas were way too watery....for the money....too many other places to go to and get great food and drinks. Maybe it was just the taco plate....our other guests seem to think it was good."

  • "Located outdoors at the Mission Inn in downtown Riverside, it has a feel of classy casual with affordable pricing. The food is very good and the service was excellent. Superb guacamole! "

  • "Great food and service, this little jewel is a fantastic spot for lunch. Tucked amongst the gardens of the Mission Inn, this restaurant has excellent cuisine. Try the salsa and guacamole!"

  • "The ambience at Las Campanas was lovely, but the wait staff attentiveness was sub par. We waited a good 15 minutes for chips and salsa after the waitress said she would bring them right away. To be fair, another waiter dropped them off. However, our waiters passed our table at least 4 times in that time period and never apologized or acknowledged that we were waiting. Another person at the table ordered flour tortillas, which did not come. She was 3/4 of the way done with her meal before our waitress stopped by to check. Upon hearing that her order was not completed, again- no apology- the waitress said, "I'll get that for you now". The food was just ok. Next time I'm in the area, I'll check out another restaurant."

  • "It's popular which means that even with a reservation you will have to wait. However, they have great service and they keep the chips and salsa coming!"

  • "I would never recommend this restaurant, service and food was terrible. Tacos were soggy, fell apart on the plate. Coffee was cold and no one checked on us to refill drinks. Waitress was avoiding us."

  • "My girlfriend and I had dinner there, Saturday for our anniversary. They place couldn't be anymore romantic. It wasn't noisy like I thought the outdoor sitting would be.The staff was friendly, and the food was exceptionally great. We will differently be going back."

  • "Excellent!!! We were a special need table with 2 challenged elders and 2 toddlers. The service was very accommodating and patient. Our party was increased in size by 1 and a word was never said. Servers just carried on. Food was excellent as we have always experienced. The setting continues to be beautiful. Lovely Mother's Day for my 83 years old mother to be with her 2 daughters, 2 of her great grandchildren and her challenged husband of 62 years. Thank you Las Campanas and Mission Inn."

  • "Las Campanas has always been a go to for great food, great service and a great taste for our beloved Mission Inn. I have found each experience to be continuously outstanding. "

  • "My big issue with this restaurant is that from the time we ordered our lunch until it arrived it was 50 minutes which seemed exceptionally long for enchiladas and an open faced quesadilla. Otherwise, the food itself was great and the server was pleasant and helpful in making suggestions. Remember that this restaurant is outside and the sun is very hot in this area. It was 100 the day we were there. Umbrellas are available but may not cover every seat. "

  • "Two musts are the tableside prepared Guacamole and the Margaritas which are served in the largest glasses ever. Seating is outside and the food is fun. Four of us dined on a Saturday night, three had the enchiladas and I had the fajitas. All were very pleased with the food and thge service."

  • "Beautiful setting, water fountains, lots of beautiful plants and trees. Was a very lovely and relaxing lunch, great service, and the food was awesome, would definitely return to dine here again!"

  • "Las Campanas is a great outdoor restaurant, very enjoyable on a nice spring evening. The food is okay, it isn't fantastic. There were three in our party for dinner and we all ordered the enchiladas. Mine was cheese only, my sister and brother-in-law had chicken enchiladas. I think the enchiladas were a bit bland, and had way way too much cheese. The chips and salsa were good, but nothing extraordinary. My sister and I had the extra large margaritas, which are huge and pretty good. But the ice melts quickly and by the time you are half way through, you have a watery drink. All in all, though, if you have out of town guests, Las Campanas and Mission Inn is a good place to go. Food is not 5 star though and is pricey. "

  • "It's the Mission Inn so it's beautiful, but the food was comparable to El Torito at a higher price. Somewhat disappointed. "
