Diner Reviews
  • "Ordered the tostada without refried beans, but got them anyway. Sent the dish back. The excuse was that the beans helped hold the tostada together. Didn't quite get that one, but nice try."

  • "I took my fiancée there for dinner and we had a blast. Out waiter was very helpful and attentive. The food was fantastic as well as the outdoor atmosphere."

  • "My wife and I had dined here several times before but it had been 18 months since our last visit. having good memories we invited our friends another couple. I had Chilie Verde, I was dissapointed as it was served in a bowl with a spoon and the presentation was that of a Depression era soup kitchen. The tortillias were cold and not good quality. The rice lacked taste and texture. My wife had Beef Fajitas, her meat was tough and absolutely no presentation. Our friends had shrimp dinners and they were not impressed. it is sad that such a historic beautiful location would let quality slip so much."

  • "Service was average. Two Fajitas came with only one serving of tortillas. Server was busy and we could not ask for more. When it started raining, in addition to getting wet, a sewer smell permeated the place. A loose cat was seen walking around foraging for food. Appeared unhygienic, even if it was not. Had specifically requested two checks separating alcoholic beverages in online reservation. Had to remind server about that. Lack of attention to detail and concern about getting wet (umbrellas were moderately effective) was a disappointment:-( Food was good. Server, when available was upbeat and courteous."

  • "This restaurant always impresses our visitors. One member of our party from out of town choose this to impress her friend on the next night. Enjoy can not compare with any other Inland destination."

  • "The friendly service made our meal exceptional. The ambience is wonderful. The food is very good. Be careful not to order too much....the portions are generous!"

  • "My husband I recently ate at Las Campanas prior to a concert at the Fox Theater which is down the street......perfect way to start the evening!"

  • "We had a very nice time at Las Campanas. We were celebrating our daughters graduation from Nursing school. She had wanted to try this restaurant and she was very pleased. The waiter we had was very attentive, and accomidated two food requests that were not on the menu. Our five year grand daughter enjoyed eating outside. The patio is pretty with plenty if shade umbrellas."

  • "Great food, service, beautiful surroundings! This would be especially romantic in the later evening with the garden lights."

  • "The food was great and the service was great. Although you can find great food/service anywhere in So-Cal, what I liked the most was the staff's eagerness to make the night special, unique and customized, for my wife's birthday. I had requested a few little things and they ran with it, they had flowers for her on the table, they helped distract her so I could surprise her when her parents showed up and simply put, their participation in the night was above and beyond."

  • "This is a beautiful garden patio. Surrounded by the historic and lovely Mission Inn. But this restaurant offers a terrible example of California/Mexican food. My friend and I sampled two meals together, lunch and dinner. Both times the food was not just disappointing, but actually awful. The Taco Cupcakes appetizer was strange: little cups made of under-fried, tough, flour tortilla filled with a very dry, rather tasteless and greasy mixture of ground beef and black beans. The chicken enchiladas were filled with dried-out, tough lumps of meat, then covered with a thick mound of very salty, tough cheese. The other items we ordered were equally bad. So Sad!"

  • "Our server was the greatest showed exceptional knowledge of food and drinks was quick, responsive and conveyed tremendous customer service skill-sets that made our evening one of the best that comes to mind - LAS COMPANAS is extremely fortunate to have staff of this caliber on hand! Server was Jessica N."

  • "Can they fix the cat problem. I had a big cat and a kitten under my table the entire time. Wild and when I mentioned it to the waitress and the food server nothing was done to even try and get them back in the bushes. Cats walking by my ankles was not what I wanted to experience.."

  • "Las Campanas is a lovely spot for dinner with friends. The food was well prepared and the service was friendly and efficient."

  • "The food was great and if you go at night it really looks cool. Be aware that it is all outdoor seating if that means anything to you. The whole Mission Inn area is great and if you are in the mood for Mexican food you can't go wrong with this one."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The guacamole is a must. The food is good and the atmosphere is very nice. The service has been good every time I've dined here. There's usually a wait on weekends so make reservations ahead of time."

  • "Las Campanas left for Rancho Cucamonga and returned to the Mission Inn in Riverside. This was a business move because Rancho Cucamonga financially could not support the restaurant with competing Mexican cuisine at the highest prices. There were comparable Mexican cuisine offered that had more value at lower prices. The move back to the Mission Inn allows average Mexican cuisine to be rare and pricing can remain due to the clientele that can afford higher prices for standard food. What is important here is that it is not the food that matters, it is the ambiance. The conversations and the setting will cloud the actual tasting when paired with an adult beverage."

  • "Good food and service, but there was a stray cat that some of the patrons were feeding. We got the sense that it wasn't the first time the cat had been there. Kinda weird trying to have a nice meal with the lady sitting across from us feeding a random stray cat. After we requested a seat away from the cat it was a nice meal."

  • "Food was great but had to wait a long time to receive service. After the waiter finally came to address us, service was good. Ok for outdoor dining but would prefer indoor; no flies, no dropping on table or in plates of plant life surrounding your dining experience. Will come back but won't put this experience at the top of the list for future dining."

  • "food and service were excellent; blended Margarita's were delicious and large; I would suggest ordering the smaller size if you are not a big drinker."

  • "The service was good, food delivery was slow but kitchen was very busy and we were in no hurry, and waitress explained situation. Food was very good. The passion fruit margaritas were disappointing, just not as flavorful as one would expect for a special."

  • "The restaurant was not busy at all and it took 15 min after we were seated before someone asked what we wanted to drink. Being Father's Day it would of been nice to have my husbands food served first but we had to ask where it was? Very poor service. Once food was served we never saw our waitress again except for when she brought the check. We had to ask for a box for leftovers twice. Very disappointed in service. Have to say it was our first time and last for eating at this restaurant. We would always see our waitress standing around talking to other staff but not concerned about our table."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, We both enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and service, the restaurant was a bit noisy due to a child in the next table. We will return."

  • "Every time I try this restaurant the food gets worse. The only reason the still come here to eat from time to time is the setting. On a warm night in the summer, the ambiance is very nice. However, you take your chances with the food and service. Last time, the guacamole was good and one meal was good while the other three meals were lukewarm. We sent them back and they returned hotter but not much better. There is nothing I would recommend on the menu. I would suggest thT the "chef" go back to cooking school."

  • "The Mission Inn is beautiful. You cannot beat the ambience there and Las Campanas (in front, next to the hotel valet) is no exception. It's entirely outdoors and is a wonderful place to hang out and talk with friends over a margarita. Do not, however, go for the food. I'm not saying don't order anything - it's not that bad. It's just not that good either. It's OK gringo Mexican. And the service is better than the rest of the Mission Inn (if you've been to the bar or to Duane's you know what I mean)."

  • "Everything was great here, been here a few times and this was the first time I reserved because the wait is always long. I suggest reserving a table or going early, especially on the weekends."

  • "Las Campanas was great! Had reservations and only had to wait for about 5 mins after arrival. The outdoor setting is beautiful and serene. It took a little while for the food and check to be brought out but we didn't mind. It was such a great environment that we enjoyed being able to hang out and not feel rushed. Also, the food was hot right out of the oven. Fresh and tasty. I had the vegetarian fajitas and he ordered the chicken tacos-we thought both were great! I will definitely be back! "
