Diner Reviews
  • "Great date night location. Dinner and margaritas before meeting friends out at 9:30pm."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Good food, service was a bit mixed this night, not bad, perhaps just inexperienced. And you can hear, no blaring music. Outdoors has misting, and was being used by a lot of people at 7pm on a June night."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Always enjoy the service at Las Alamedas. The food is always good but don't especially like the new menu as much as I did the previous one."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "Our 2nd time there. Food outstanding . Service great. Fun place to go."

  • "Such a beautiful hacienda-like restaurant with a lovely patio for outdoor dining, but the snapper was fishy-tasting overlooked and very greasy."
    Dined on 5/14/2014
  • "I want this place to get its act together. I LOVED the Voss location, love the current location with patio, like the strong margaritas, the food is fine, BUT the service is terrible! It has never been good. The wait staff isn't rude, just indifferent (which is almost worse). Everything takes forever and they aren't overly busy-it's always been that way. Even at the bar! I'm sure I'll wander back over there eventually-I'm willing it to be better-but not any time soon. Maybe I'll forget how bad it was..."

  • "Really enjoyed the food. Parking is difficult but the food is worth it. Lots going on. Lots of families and children everywhere so this is not for you if you want a quiet dinner. Service outstanding. Again, great food."

  • "We dined on the outdoor patio- my one complaint is they allow smoking, which is a deterrent to eat outside on a pleasant day. Other than that, the fish tacos were cooked perfectly, and the chile relano was outstanding. The service was attentive and the margaritas with Grand Marnier were especially good. Las Alamedas serves their salsa warm and the chips are very crispy and fresh. One of the better dining venues in Katy."

  • "We loved the atmosphere, quite and relaxing. The decor was very nice and the prices weren't a strain on the pocketbook!"

  • "Las Alamedas is different since it moved to Katy. It's not bad, just a totally different vibe. Less inviting. My dinner was not impressive, but I did order the fajita salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was dry and there was not very much of it. They use iceberg lettuce also, which they should consider changing considering for what they charge for the dish. It offers 0% nutritional value and does not present very well. The others in our party liked what they ordered however and the Ceviche appitizer was fantastic. I will say that the patio dining is wonderful. If the weather permits I would recommend it. Service was good considering that there was 1 server for all the tables on the patio."

  • "We very much like Las Alamedas. Greatly improved menu and service with the new set up. Recommended"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Haven't been there since they moved to Katy, so it was a pleasant surprise to see a very similar set up like the original. We ended up having dinner in the bar area because it felt more cozy and secluded from the other guests. Is like to go back and sit on the patio because it looked very inviting and had a great view of the courtyard. Food was great, drinks were good. Next time I'll go for the top shelf margarita - the regular one was just OK."

  • "We went out to Las Alamedas with the whole family: 11 people. The staff was great and took good care of us. The margaritas were super-delicious (on the rocks). All the dishes were very well done, great flavors. The carnitas were cooked perfectly (moist with a nice char). The ribs were tender, the fajitas very good. Overall we were able to satisfy picky eaters and two different cultures of parents. We will definitely go back again."

  • "Expected such a well reviewed restaurant in a prime location to be PACKED on the weekend. It was completely dead, which is usually a bad sign. There are no vegetarian menu items worth mentioning aside from a lunch special spinach enchilada (again LUNCH - we came for dinner) and a generic guacamole salad. This would be a place for lunch, do not recommend for dinner."

  • "This was our first visit back to Las Alamedas in about a year. Our table of three ordered Carnitas, Fish Tacos and Chicken Fajita Quesadillas. The Fish Tacos could use some fine tuning to get it on par with other restaurants that offer this item. We enjoyed the chips and salsa. None of the entrees we ordered exceeded $12.95. The night we dined here we sat outside on the patio - very enjoyable. Our server provided excellent service. My wife and I felt that Las Alamedas demonstrated improvement since our last visit. We will try again in the future."

  • "Food was very good--glad to see the expanded menu. Price quoted for the margaritas was not the same as on the bill. Restaurant is beautiful. Service was slow and untimely--5 minutes after receiving our salads, the entres came. We had to ask them to take the entres back and hold them. A glass of wine ordered at the beginning of the meal didn't show up until after the meal. This was a Saturday night. Judging by the slowness of the service, they could use more wait staff. But we enjoyed the food and the ambiance was very nice. Would probably go there again but maybe not on a Saturday night."

  • "At first they didn't have a wine list then later they did have a list and when we selected a wine from that this 20 minutes later the server told us he couldn't find it, so we picked another one and they couldn't find that one either. We ended up ordering a drink from the bar. Food was good but we were very disappointed in the Wine or lack there of. Valentine's day was on a friday this only happens every 7 years as a manager of a restaurant you must make sure your wine list is in order and that the service team is up to date on the wines. This restaurant lost about $55 because they couldn't find our two wine choices. I will tell this story to everyone in Katy and let them make their own decision as to dine here or not."

  • "My husband and I went there on Valentines day, I was not surprised. I have been to the old Las Alamedas on Katy Frwy, and this has the same warm feeling, the decor, the food, the service is all that Las Alamedas stands for. I'm glad the name never changed. Love this place..."

  • "Went to have a birthday dinner with family of 6 and after waiting far too long for drinks, my wife had inquired about a dish that featured paper thin chicken. The waiter couldn't offer details so my wife took a chance and ordered it. Once the dish arrived, she sampled it, as did myself, to reveal a dish that was bland and somewhat flavorless. I then called our waiter over and asked if we could return the dish and order something more familiar to which he said "certainly". we attempted to have a decent dinner but again coudln't get timely drink service and found ourselves with empty glasses numerous times. when we recieved our bill only to discover we were charged for the stale tasteless dish we didn't eat!"

  • "just not as good as the old location. enchiladas, paella, and fajitas lacked that zing..."

  • "Las Alamedas isn't the typical Mexican restaurant in Houston, it is very close to the real mexican flavor in Mexico City, good service and prices are ok. Good place to have a family lunch"

  • "Very nice Mexican food restaurant. Good food and great atmosphere for romantic dining."

  • "Went here for a lunch birthday celebration on a Saturday afternoon. Our server was aloof at times and slow to bring us our check but besides that, our good was quick and hot when coming out. Also they were very accommodating with making chances to our plates. Overall this was a great place for a girls day out."

  • "It didn't have much flavor. Prepared and presented well, but the taste was only OK, nothing that mad us go - wow, we've got to go back there."

  • "This was the second time I have been to this restaurant and the first time was very good. Let me say that I have eaten Mexican food in Texas and Mexico more times than I can remember and I know what Mexican food and Tex-Mex taste like. This was NOT Mexican food. It tasted like it was stir fried in a wok at a popular Indonesian restaurant that starts with PF. Same oil and everything! Worst fajitas I've ever had. It was certainly edible but not Mexican flavor. I don't know what changed but I don't think I will be going back unless I am in the mood for PF. The waiter didn't appear for 5 minutes after we were seated. After that the attention was ok."

  • "Our server made bad jokes (about the order) while each person in our party ordered. Then he forgot we ordered an appetizer. When our entrees showed up, and we pointed out that we never received our appetizer, he asked if we still wanted the it but made no effort to correct the situation. The chicken fajitas did not have enough chicken. A lot of peppers and onions, but a small amount of chicken. Further, they were served without butter or cheese. Wouldn't recommend. Much better at other restaurants. Another entree didn't have any sides (rice, beans, etc.) which made the plate seem bare, and far too little food to comprise an entree or the price. There's no reason to eat here with the huge number of other Mexican restaurants in the area."

  • "We are new to Katy and wanted to go somewhere in Cinco Ranch for New Years Eve. I looked online and found this restaurant. It was said to be a four star. The service was impeccable but the food was outright horrible. We love Mexican food and eat it quite often. Honestly, I'm not a hard critic but I would never go back. Too expensive for luke warm, bland tasting food. I also love margaritas but there was so much tequila that I felt like I was taking shots. I never thought too much alcohol was a bad thing, but this disproved that."

  • "Went in the middle of the week and the place was fairly busy. I would definitely recommend this place. Margaritas are great! Food tastes great and fresh! We had an awesome waiter who was very tentative and quick to our orders and requests. Will definitely be going back!"

  • "Whoops- apparently OT doesn't want detail in their reviews. Here's the Cliff Notes version: We have gone to Las Alamedas whenever we were in Houston for years. It was one of the best Mexican restaurants outside of Mexico herself. This time... They have apparently decided to make it a down-scale ho-hum place. Think "franchise" and you'll pretty much have it. All in all... I didn't like it. At all. Go to Chili's and enjoy yourself."

  • "We ignored some of the poor service reviews and went for brunch Sunday. (2 senior adults and one toddler). Service was excellent; food excellent; and the brunch menu prices were very reasonable. We got there at 11:00 as they opened, so lots of tables and servers available."
    Dined on 9/8/2013
  • "Not surprising it was no problem to get a table on a Friday night. Service was spotty. Took forever to get drinks. Food was ok but certainly didn't justify the prices. Glad we tried it out of curiosity but won't be back. There are just too many other much better options in the area."

  • "They could not/refused to make an egg white omlette; which is strange for a restaurant. I asked for water three times. No chips or guatamole came either. We were given the brunch menu; I asked for the pouches egg in tomato sauce-style dish, I was directed to the buffet, and told EVERYTHING is there, no need to order anything. At the buffet they directed me back to the table and said I had to order it. The waiter did not seem surprised when I came back to order, it seemed he wanted us to get everything from the buffet so he was not disturbed. We asked for the sweet Breads as described on the brunch menue, we could not find them on the buffet; we received 3 mini supermarket-cup cakes with poppy seeds - we expected Mexican style pastries."
