A special occasion: a birthday, acknowledged by a mini-cupcake with a candle, perfect. A lovely Piedmont Nebbiolo (know that most bottles are much more than the $80 we spent). A shared grilled octopus was good, though ordinary; linguini nero with clams/cod was good, not great, hanger steak, good but many others i have had were better. So--overall, a pleasant dining experience but not an extraordinary one and with the difficulty of getting a reservation, not a restaurant we will hurry to return to.

We have been coming here over the past several years and it has maintained well, the food quality is simply wonderful. Everyone appreciates the mushroom appetizer - and rightfully so. The veiche (sp?) tuna is also very popular and with good reason. How do they french-cut mushrooms? The pecan encrusted cod is a solid chunk of white fish with those white beans you cant find just anywhere. Not a morsel of food going back to the dishwasher from us. The only negative was sitting up front - across from the bar - its more than energetic. The guy next to me had to use his phone as a flashlight to read the menu. I had to twitter that one out. I guess the 30 somethings don't mind the dim lighting, and I really don't, but cell boy was annoying.

Everything about dining at this restaurant was perfect! The service was exceptionally good- we were not rushed at all despite being there early on a Friday night. All of our food was delicious from the ricotta cheese appetizer to dessert- and a fresh take on the usual Italian favorites. The wine recommended by our waiter was also very good. I would highly recommend visiting this gem when in the neighborhood- if you can get in!

I have been to L'Artusi approximately half a dozen times. While I have generally loved my experience there, this time it felt tired. The menu has not changed much if at all since the last couple of times I've been there. While before I considered the tables small but cozy, I now just consider them small. The food tasted a bit salty this time and the portions seemed a bit lacking. It was also much too dark inside. Ambience is one thing but this strained the eyes a bit too much. In short, it was good, it was fun, but I think they really need to freshen the menu up a bit.

I've always wanted to try LArtusi since I have been to both Dell'anima and L'apacio. My boyfriend and I ate at LArtusi last Thursday night and it blew our expectations out of the water. We want to come back soon and frequently. The food was delicious and so flavorful. The dishes were simple with a wonderful and unique twist. The service was spectacular and the ambiance was perfect. My boyfriend and I look forward to coming back soon!

My boyfriend and I loved this restaurant. From the cocktails, to the salad appetizers, to the mains (I ordered the chicken which was outstanding, he ordered the gnocchi which melted in your mouth), to the decadent dessert, we cannot wait to head back here. Our waiter was also great. He was perfectly attentive with a balance of checking up on us at appropriate moments and letting us enjoy and have intimate conversation. The setting is romantic and perfect for a date night. I can't wait to come back here and try more things on the menu.

We had a work reunion Thursday night at L'Artusi. We were all dying to try this restaurant. It did not disappoint. We had a great meal and the desserts were fantastic. My only criticism is the noise level. We could barely hear each other. I woke up with a sore throat from having to scream the conversation.

Had a table near the very noisy and frenetic open kitchen. I've sat near open kitchens in other restaurants, but none were as crazy as this. No grace, ease or polish! It's like everyone in the kitchen was panicked by each new order. Service was OK (if a little slow; much better at the bar), hostess took quite a while before someone could be found to show us to our table, while my friend and I stood there, in the way of the entrance. (We had been at the bar and were told to see the hostess as soon as we were ready, which is what we did -- shouldn't have felt that we were in the way.) Despite all, the food is SUPERB!! Brilliantly prepared, reasonably priced (though we had to request a spoon to split the pasta appetizer we had requested!)

Second time here and wanted a brunch without the bedlam and bottomless drink scene. Ordered the hanger steak and brunch cocktail. Pluses: The decor. Quiet with a hidden true neighborhood vibe. Quality of food. Minuses: Expensive cocktails. Spacious restaurant yet tables seemed crowded and conversations must be kept PG due to the quietness of the dining room. Space: No trendy farm to table motif here, just a refreshing casual but elegant kitchen/dining room decor. Service: Great. Food & Drink: Perfect comfort food. Value: Food = excellent, brunch cocktails = hardly. Would I go back? Of course.

We arrived promptly, dressed very smartly in suits and dresses, asked to wait, not offered a seat at the bar, then placed right at the back upstairs next to the waiters' station. Food wasn't anything to write home about. Isola is much better. Better ambience. Wine list is average. Won't be returning on our next visit to NYC. Love The Village, though.

Arrived early had about 10 minutes to wait, had a great glass of Colpetrone Sanrantino at the bar. Server was great! Started with the Fluke Ceviche paired with a Lini Lambrusco bianco, wonderful! Next came the roasted mushrooms with egg. worth the trip alone. We then had the beet & carrot salad. Our next course was Squash ravioli, followed by the branzino, then roasted chicken. all with a wonderful La Querciola Barolo. I would suggest this as a great place to eat alone or in a group, you are made to feel welcome and our server Anncherie was very knowledgeable on the food and wine pairings.

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Took a large group (only 1-2 tables that can accommodate that) and everyone loved it. Beautiful, great atmosphere. The kale salad was a stand-out. Loved my char entree (altho not huge) and other pasta entrees were also adored but a bit small (leaving hungry diners wanting more). Desserts were also a stand-out and sized far better. Olive Oil Cake is a must have.

My husband and I both loved our dinner at L'Artusi. Each course was incredible- the cheeses the chef paired with our wine were excellent. The spaghetti was recommended and was the only dish that was slightly disappointing (small portion for $18). But the halibut, butter lettuce and steak did not disappoint. John was a great server. Fine experience at l'artusi. The wine by the glass list is very expensive, $14,$17 glasses. The pasta portions are substantial, but the orchiette although cooked a perfect al dente was very salty and focused on the meat rather than letting the pasta shine through. Out waiter was very nice and attentive, and we did not feel rushed. Would recommend, but don't feel the need to go back, as it doesn't have a neighborhood charm feel but a crowded hip scene where you just feel lucky you've gotten a table.

The food at LArtusi is outstanding. The go to items that I always order include the roasted mushrooms with pancetta and egg, the crispy potatoes with white sauce, the scallop crudo, and the buttermilk crackers with homemade ricotta. On this most recent visit, the steak was maybe the least impressive item, but only due to insufficient seasoning and not improper preparation. A special salad, with pickled watermelon, heirloom tomatoes and a crispy pork skin was outstanding, as was the black spaghetti with rock shrimp. Prices may be high, but the quality of the food has never been less than 5 star, and the servers are attentive but not obtrusive. A place we return again and again, and always bring clients and friends when they visit.
