Diner Reviews
  • "Refined atmosphere - very unexpected for a restaurant over a strip mall. Live music, classy atmosphere, noise level just right. The A/C was set to way too cold. The meat is of excellent quality. One person had fish and didn't rave about it, but didn't dislike it either. The chopped salad was amazing, the crab cakes were good, however the tomato burrata salad was a disappointment: regular tomatoes from your local supermarket instead of heirloom as one would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. Sides and deserts were tasty and of generous portions; however the chocolate covered strawberries were too sugary, the chocolate should be of a deeper, darker aroma. A non pretentious restaurant with great service and food if you know what to order."

  • "The service was great from the moment we entered, we were pleasantly surprised that the food was great too! It was late when we got there yet we still received very good service. It was quiet, but I figured it was timing and didn't mind, besides it is very pretty inside."

  • "I really enjoyed going to this steakhouse. It's quite pricey ($250 for two with no alcohol), but worth it. I ordered the ribeye with this amazing bluecheese and scallop Bearnaise sauce, and it was outstanding. We also got the wedge salad and the mac/cheese, both of which were terrific. It might be the best steak I've ever had. My husband and I went for our anniversary, and it was a good choice. Dark and romantic, but with back-lit menus so you can see what you're ordering. The staff was terrific. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "My Porterhouse steak is always better than the same at Mastros or Ruth's Chris. The service is excellent. Thank you, Larsens Steakhouse."

  • "The service was great from the waiter to the buss man. The cocktails were abundant, to the top of the glas, the wine list has a wide selection, the food was prepared and presented exceptionally. Parking is convenient, lots of privacy while dining. I have told several friends of my experience."

  • "I went to the Encino Branch with my wife and adult daughter. The staff seemed totally indifferent and the service was sporadic at best. For a high priced steakhouse there was little attention payed to how the steaks were cooked and the sides did not come out at the same time as the steaks. The sides also seemed pre-packaged We had to flag down waiters for drinks and were mostly ignored. The place was not that crowded yet they seemed understaffed. The bill was over 300.00 for a very inferior experience. The following week we were called asking for feedback. We explained everything your reading and was told the manager would call us. He never did. We are frequent restaurant goers and we would rate this as one of our worst experiences."

  • "Disapointed; our first time at the Encino location (have been to Simi several times). Nice place but very loud. Priced too high for what you get; mac & cheese was just like out of a box of velveta, bacon shrimp were overcooked & hard, apple cobbler came out ice cold. Steaks were good."

  • "This restaurant is not the equal of a Morton's or Ruth's Chris, except for the prices which were higher than either of the aforementioned places. The wine list was overpriced but, more importantly, the meat served was not up to the standards of a fine steakhouse. The rib eye had an unacceptable amount of gristle and the lamb chops lacked flavor. The only portion that was tasty was the petite filet, although it too had a problem because it was overcooked beyond the degree that was specified when the order was placed. I was not favorably impressed and, hence, would not consider ever returning."

  • "If you are a steak lover this is the place for you. I had the Rib-eye and the wife had the Chilean Sea bass and they were perfect. The sides are hugs so don't over order."

  • "We went to celebrate a late birthday/Valentine's Day with sis and her husband. Never been before, but was pleasantly surprised. Very good food, but wine is a tad on the outrageous side. We usually do a bottle that runs us around $32, at places like Fleming's and The Grill, but their Riesling and Zinfandel's were $50 and up which is really overpriced in our opinion, so two of us just had a glass. Overall, nice place and we would definitely go again, but only on special occasions."

  • "Hostess of the day 2/19 looked depressed and angry. Also should warn people that lunch closes at 2:00 pm, sometimes 1:30. Had reservations at 1:30. Traffic delayed me so had 10 minutes to order. Waiter absolutely fabulous . Give him a raise!!!!!"

  • "I had a great time at Larsen's!! The food was delicious. I had the filet mignon with fries, My boyfriend had the bone in rib eye and mashed potatoes. I also got the filet mignon pasta to go. Our waiter Simon was great, very friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back : )"

  • "After several great meals at Larsens, it was our first visit that we sat in the main dining room & not in the bar. (Missed you Derek!) The room is really lovely, and it was bustling with guests enjoying their experience. We got lucky & were given a table that seats 4 people (it was just 2 of us), so we were able to sit in a booth next to each other...our favorite! The food was great. Highlights: Heirloom and blue cheese salad, New York Steak, crab legs, french fries. All were excellent! Medium: green beans, good flavor not great. Bacon-wrapped shrimp..my hub LOVES these but they came out barely warm this time. boo. Lowlight: their caesar is not their finest work. Overall, we are so lucky to have a top tier restaurant right here in Encino."

  • "As usual, the steaks were outstanding. The services and atmosphere was fantastic as always. I have been to Larsen's many times and I have not had a bad meal yet. I eaten their steaks and also the salmon from time to time. What ever it has been you cannot make a mistake. The waiters are always willing to do what you want and the chef always seems to get the food cooked to perfection. I would never pass up a chance to go to Larsen's for dinner."

  • "Piano adds a lot to the ambiance. My NY strip steak was good. My wife's Ahi tuna was nothing special. Very expensive. Food was ok but not sure I'd go back as it didn't stand out with so many similar expensive steakhouses to choose from in the area."

  • "Waiter was somewhat absent. Busy with another table. Very chatty. Food was not great, side needed to be reheated. Won't go back at these prices."

  • "I'd say Larsens Steakhouse is quality food but a bit overpriced. Enjoyed the steak and lobster, hubby had salmon, but we did not enjoy or appreciate being seated next to a large table with a crying 1 year old at 7:30 at night. Our mistake to not ask to be moved. We had reservations, arrived on time, multiple empty tables, but still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated."Unorganized" staff. As typical with many steakhouses...everything is extra ...soup, salad, all side orders, etc. Being charged $14 for a basic glass of wine when I can purchase a bottle for $8.00 of the same wine goes against the grain. . Bad acoustics...very loud and difficult to have conversation. $180 tab for 2 dinners, 1 side order, 3 drinks. You be the judge."

  • "Everything was fine, but only fine. My problem with going to a "steakhouse" is that there is an expectation that they know how to cook their meat. Two of us ordered the exact same cut of me and doneness. Medium rare. We were given 1 med rare and 1 medium. Unfortunately, the place was too busy to flag the server down to fix the situation. $49 on that filet mignon wasted."

  • "Food still very good but noticing some slippage since owner moved out of state. One dinner not as ordered. Some menu lights work and some don't . Some wines recommended not in stock. Waiter raved about hand made Key Lime pie and all thought awful, It has been a great place and hope it doesn't slip."

  • "Our first time at this Larsens, having dined a their Valencia location previously. The bread is to die for and the steaks are perfectly cooked. They come with a roasted garlic that is deliciously spreadable on top of the steak. The sauteed mushrooms were amazing, but we were disappointed in the sauteed broccolini. The dish sounded promising, but tasted a little flat. I commend the management for their follow-up phone call the next day to check on our dining experience."

  • "We had quite a few appetizers and entrees here and the food was merely okay, not as good as you would hope for this type of steakhouse, and for the price. The service was excellent although we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation."

  • "All staff were extremely pleasant -- from the hostess to the servers -- started with oysters on the half shell, excellent; followed with the rib eye, excellent. Paired with zinfindel that our waiter and the wine steward helped us select. Great experience we'll be back."

  • "We had eaten at Larsen's one other time on a weeknight and enjoyed out time. We met friend's there on a Friday thinking that it would be a great place to dine and talk. As we entered, I notice the noise level was high and there was a pianist who wasn't that great. Our table was as far from the piano and bar that we could get but still near the door to the outside patio causing a distraction as servers entered and exited. Our steaks were fine but not amazing. It was very frustrating when our steaks were served and salad plates were still on the table. The server (not our waiter) seemed oblivious that she need to put our steaks in front of us without removing some plates. Our waiter showed up and tried to fix the situation. Too late."

  • "This is our go-to celebratory spot. The staff is friendly and the ambience is lovely. We enjoy the live piano and we love the food. My boys are steak lovers and I am a salad eater-it doesn't matter, its all good and the side dishes are also delicious."

  • "We come here often and rave about to friends. We celebrate special occasions here and recently had a party for 17 people here. Food is so great! Steaks are better than Cut or Boa in Beverly Hills, and half the price. Its a fabulous find. The service is unmatched, they will do anything for you and always call the next day to make sure all was good at you visit. Lots of street parking or parking under the building that is validated."

  • "My husband and I came and checked this place out because my younger sister recommended it . We both ordered the petit filet mignon for our entrees, Idaho potato and onion rings for sides, and my husband had 2 Heineken beers. The filet mignon were cooked to perfection and onion rings are so good. Our server Chrissy is so sweet and attentive, always checked up on us and asked what we needed. Their food was great except on a little pricey side. Everyone on the dining room seemed to have a good time, there was a gentleman playing the piano, excellent ambiance sort of romantic in my opinion. Over all this place is a gem, food is great and service was outstanding. Almost forgot the bread they served is to die for, so yummyyyyyy."
