  • "The menu looked better than the actual food. We had appies only--the squash soup was smooth and tasty.The cauliflower cobbler was good-but not as flavorful as expected. The crab fondue was very rich, not much crab and the accompanying bread was dry. So we'll return to our two other favorite restaurants on our next visit to charming Ashland. A modest recommendation."

The only real disappointment ever was our last dining experience when we were seated at the 2-top next to the glass doors. Someone has to sit there, I just hope it's not us next time. Otherwise, everything was great as usual!"

  • "We are regulars now at Larks Restaurant in Ashland, Oregon whenever we visit this lovely town for the OSF plays or when we're just passing through on the way to visit family in Salem and Portland. The food was not quite as grand as it has been in the past - Pot Roast was a bit tough and the Brussel Sprouts a bit too crisp. The service is incredible and drinks outstanding. Still love this place!"

  • ".halibut with mushroom risotto and hollandaise. Risotto savory, but salty. Unfortunately fish overcooked (needed to be cut with a knife). I couldn't finish it. I'd have sent it back but was pressed for time. Butter lettuce fennel salad was delicious. Blue corn polenta /grilled broccolini pleasant and filling but the veg tough (I didn't mind this, but my wife found it a chew). Tomatillo braised beef soup flavorful, inventive, but the kitchen that night loved the salt shaker on my order. This is a nice, local sourced Ashland restaurant, good service. Wine list is local (lots from Rogue Valley) and could use some broadening. I'd return, but would be clear about how the fish should be cooked and wouldn't be shy to ask about the salt."

  • "We spent our 10th anniversary at the Ashland Springs Hotel and dined at Lark' s the first night of our stay. The food was delicious, dining room lovely, and service courteous and efficient. Can't speak to the wine list as we had brought our own bottle purchased especially for our anniversary. The restaurant was very busy as many diners, including my husband and me, were scheduled to attend a play at 8 p.m.. However, that did not affect delivery of our dinner or the noise level. We had a lovely time."

  • "Had not been to Lark's in Ashland, so we invited visiting relatives to join us for St. Patrick's Day dinner. Almost everything was A+….food was beautiful and totally yummy, our server (Eve) was top-notch. She explained things clearly and welcomed our choices with great enthusiasm. Asparagus Soup, warm bread, Blue Cornmeal Oysters, Petrale Sole, Corned Beef with all the trimmings, Surf&Turf, lovely red wine, ginger pear martini, we loved it all. The Apple Crisp dessert was not memorable. It was sweet and tasty, but could have been so much more, and the corned beef accompaniments were a tad too mustardy for one of us. Otherwise, we will return and will recommend Lark's"

  • "My husband has a beautiful special of divers scallops, he liked it a lot. I had a comfit duck leg, a little dry, and overwhelmed by rich side dishes of creamed leeks and gooey polenta. It cried out for greens and a bit of acid. For the price, I expected better. Ashland is tough on a Sunday night, not tons of choices."

  • "We went to Larks before a play. The server was nice and our food was promptly delivered to us. The seafood pasta that two of us ordered was excellent and an ample portion. The special which was a duo of yellow tail and some other kind of fish was dry and chewy . The server took it off of our bill. The bread was great but our sever was MIA and should have refilled it much sooner. The coffee was very satisfying. Larks has a nice ambience and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We were there on a Sunday evening. Beautiful bar, happy customers. I wish we could have tried the dessert menu but we were full.Next time!"

  • "We had the roasted pear salad and the beet salad which were both excellent. We both has a cup if the mushroom feta soup-- also excellent. My husband had the fried oysters and wishes they were raw. Otherwise it was a fabulous dinner before a play. Not too heavy and completely delicious. We wished they were open after the theater so we could try the desserts. Alas, they close at 9:30."

  • "We always dine here when we come to Ashland for theater, and usually enjoy the experience greatly. There was one little glitch this time, and while it could not be corrected, was resolved satisfactorily. We ordered the brussels sprouts appetizer to share and found that the brussels sprouts were just too tough to eat. The wait staff sent the dish back to the kitchen several times in an attempt to correct the situation, but they could not. I might add the sauce was delicious! The waiter did not charge us for the dish, so we were not upset. In fact, I believe the disappointment was mitigated by the wait staff and kitchen's attempts to make us happy. The rest of the food, was up to expectations, if not exceeding them."

  • "The service was overall prompt and professional. There was no real "atmosphere" to talk about. Tables are quite close to each other and there were some very noisy ("energetic" ???) groups when we were there. My soup was excellent. However the oil on the table which we wanted to use with the bread was stale. We mentioned that to the waitress who apologized but left it there.... The trout was too salty and the sides were very greasy. My husband was OK with his choice. For the charged prices we expected much better."

  • "There were 5 of us. Dinner was very good, fried chicken was delicious, the best white gravy. Someone ordered the pork chop, very good flavor but a little overdone. The trout was amazing. The only really disappointment was the Farm Plate Charcuterie, it was shared by all of us and we all expected more than one kind of meat; the duck on this appetizer was very good. The other appetizer we shared was the crab/cheese fondue, delicious. Try the brussel sprouts, they were the hit. We all agreed we would come back to share another meal."

  • "The maple glazed Brussels Sprouts w/ chunks of house cured bacon & hazel nuts were an outstanding appetizer - sweet & savory & perfectly done.The salads were fresh and well composed. Mine, the Caesar, was crisp and perfectly dressed w/ rosemary croutons & Parmesan shavings. For the main course I had the rib eye steak w/ blue cheese mashed potatoes & crispy onion strips and my wife had the duck confit, both melt in your mouth delicious. Our waitress, Sasha, was very personable and attentive as was the entire staff, offering to take our picture and bringing us a complimentary desert on account of my birthday. Whenever we go to Ashland we always try to eat at Larks, it never disappoints."

  • "Larks is one of the standout dinning venues in Ashland, Oregon, beautifully appointed and professionally staffed. Having dined there many times, and plans to do so again, our table of four was a bit surprised by the slightly overwhelming complexity of our meal. America may enjoy large portions, which were served, and rich taste combinations, but when it comes to fine dinning, less is truly more. Especially when the meal has been as good as it has been in the past. There may be a new chief and hopefully this was just a slightly off night. We will definitely return and hope the Larks of memory sings again."

The service was attentive but not overbearing, and the food was rich without being too heavy.   • "4th or 5th visit over last several years as we can only visit so many of Ashland's great eateries. Wow! Larks was always special tho I wrote a review last time about slippage in some dishes. However, they are again outstanding in all ways. The dungeness crab hot cheese appetizer was full of crab, generous portion, lots of herb bread to soak it up with, and wonderfully seasoned. Then a California bass special (a litte dear at $30 but worth every bite) that was perfectly browned and served a bed a some sort of grain-sauce-vege stuff that had me wanting to lick the plate. Same great wine and beer selection with an atmosphere of calm and "homeiness". Best "traditional" martini in Ashland. I'll do lunch tomorrow for one unbelivable Lark dessert."
