  • "The hostess did not know anything about what was going on in the restaurant or anything about my Open Table requests. The waiter did was not able to take care of multiple tables smoothly and was not friendly like the others around us were. The buffet food was not as great as it used to be. Will probably give them one more try on a special holiday buffet. The dinners still are very good."

  • "Great food.... Amazing steaks....noise level a bit loud and the service slow but catering a wedding on site at our dinner hour . Would revisit again..."

  • "Chose Larkins to entertain overseas guests. Everything was perfect"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here on April 11. The service was well done, and very attentive. We had our table at time of reservation. The food was consistent with earlier visits; impeccable. The only thing keeping me from a 5 star visit was as 2012 vintage served when a 2011 was on the menu. (A noticeable difference for this particular wine). Overall well done, and I hope to try again for 5 stars!"

  • "Our experience here was fabulous! Our food was excellent! Everything was very fresh and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent! Best filet I have had in a long time. We are going back very soon!!! "

  • "We had a great time entertaining guests. Magnificent steaks and chicken. The best oysters Rockefeller I've had in a very long time. Worth the expense for such a great treat."

  • "We went to Larkins to celebrate my husband's birthday. I loved the atmosphere and the booth that we sat in.. Unfortunately, our waitress did not tell us her name and she was very reserved and rarely smiled which made our dining experience not as pleasant. Our salads and entrees were very good and presented on the plates in an appealing presentation."

  • "Without a doubt this is one of the finer restaurants in Greenville. We started with a she-crab soup that was absolutely delicious. My wife and I both had the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection. The service was excellent, the food was outstanding. I only wished that I lived closer to try out some of their specialty dishes from time to time. I highly recommend. This is truly a first class restaurant and if you get to Greenville SC you need to experience it. The restaurants location is next door to the Peace Center, which gives it an ideal location."

  • "My fiance and I went on Saturday evening and were promptly seated. We wanted to share some dishes so we went with the Caesar Salad which is made table side, the ahi tuna, the goat cheese and tenderloin quesadilla, and the oysters. All were terrific but the oysters were fantastic and I would go for just those. Wonderful experience with a very friendly server who knew the menu well. They even comped us a dessert for being engaged. Will definitely be back"

  • "For personal celebrations - we love Larkins! They always come through with a romantic ambience and consistently great meals. The staff provides excellent service and the chef never disappoints us. For my most recent meal I had a filet, Gouda mashed potatoes and creamed spinach which were perfect. I thought the meal couldn't get any better - until I enjoyed the vanilla Creme brûlée! I highly recommend Larkins."

  • "We were in Greenville for the first time and followed recommendations for 'where to eat'. Our expectations were exceded, and the restaurant couldn't have provided a more beautiful setting for our 1st patio dining of the year. We felt at home, yet treated like valued guests, and enjoyed the extra effort the restaurant took to provide a requested appetizer not on the lunch menu."

  • "We enjoyed the service, the meal and the ambiance! I would recommend the oysters rockerfellow to start! We had surf and turf and the chef even flash fried the lobster tail when we requested! Amazing place!"

  • "I have yet to find another restaurant downtown that can beat Larkin's for price, taste and service. You can pay more other places for sure, but you will get less food and won't be able beat the taste. We have yet to be disappointed by any of their dishes and the free sample from their chef each time is a nice touch. The she-crab soup is consistently great as are the steaks. For the more budget minded their 3 course signature menu selections are an excellent value. If you want cheap or fast this isn't the place for you, otherwise I highly recommend them."

  • "We had a nice dinner, but not one that made us want to return soon. The Caesar salad prepared at the table wasn't all that enjoyable a demonstration, and in the end, was smothered in way too much fine-grated Parmesan. Main courses (lobster and sea bass) were correctly prepared, but just not memorable. We had hoped for more. We also felt the service was a little intrusive. The phrase, "Sorry to interrupt the table" was used repeatedly, which just emphasized the number of interruptions. We were disappointed and felt our experience didn't live up to many of the reviews we read. We had asked for a table with a nice view. We're hoping our total experience was an aberration, but it will be a while before we try Larkin's again."

  • "From the time we stepped into Larkins, we received nothing but great service. We had a reservation, but arrived early and sat at the bar. I asked the hostess if we could be seated earlier and she accomadated us. we will definately be back."

  • "We were briefly in Greenville on business, from Lancaster Pennsylvania. Decided to try Larkin's for an outdoor lunch one day. Our server Daniel was fantastic. And apparently we had to wait a little longer for our meals (maybe we didn't notice, because we were enjoying ourselves so much!) but they ended up bringing us a round of mimosas on the house, as an apology. Talk about customer service! I will absolutely be back."

  • "We had a great experience at Larkin's! We were there to celebrate a birthday and it was an excellent time. Food was wonderful and service was unbeatable. Can hardly wait to go back and sit outside next time."

  • "The food was good, as always but the kitchen got backed up the evening we were there. We arrived 15 minutes early and were promptly seated, but 1.5 hours later, we had only just been served our salads and we had a show to get to with two courses left to eat and only 45 minutes to do so. Our server was kind and apologized and of course it wasn't his fault. He was nice and brought our bill with our dessert and we we able to make the show in time."

  • "My mom and I had planned a day of shopping in downtown Greenville, with a visit to Larkin's for a special lunch. The weather was horrible, so we had to skip the shopping, but we decided to go ahead with the lunch, and we were so glad we did. The service was perfect-- thoughtful and helpful without being intrusive. The food was delicious. We both had the she-crab soup, and I had a very unusual goat cheese and arugula salad. My mom had the Cuban sandwich, which she loved. We shared an apple tartlet with cinnamon ice cream for dessert. The decor is the popular reclaimed factory/loft look and the setting is nice, in downtown Greenville by the Reedy River. We will definitely be back."

  • "My family of 5 came for brunch after church Sunday. We made our reservations via open table. Service was excellent and the servers were so nice to the children! The food was great (something for everyone!) and fairly priced! Valet parking when it was pouring down rain made it easy to get in and out easily. We will definitely return. Thank you!!"

  • "Bruce Wise always comes by to say hello. Feel free to ask about his wines. I learn something new with each discussion . We go to the Peace Center once a month and the parking and location are ideal. If we have leftovers they hold it for us and we come back for dessert. My wife had the red snapper special and has not stopped raving about it. If you have never been it is a MUST TRY."

  • "Everything was very good. My sea bass was amazing, service was excellent. I've been here several times and always enjoyed myself. 3 in my party ordered the filet- they all said their steaks were not as tender as expected and even a bit sinewy. We have eaten here before and the steaks are always fantastic- so we will chalk this up to bad luck."

  • "We took our out-of-town guest for lunch at Larkin's based on our previous experiences there. Two of us ordered the soup/sandwich special and were disappointed. The potato soup had no potatoes in it, while the chicken sandwich had very little chicken in it. This was very unlike the usual Larkin's quality. If they are going to treat the "special" like that, then just remove if from the menu and go with the standard lunch items."

  • "Larkin's is my favorite restaurant in Greenville because the food is outstanding and atmosphere and location are great. Besides great steaks, this night we tried the calamari cake appetizer. All of us thought it was very good and unlike any calamari we have ever eaten. Service was a little out of sync - perhaps because of large group in restaurant during our stay. Larkin's is still my favorite restaurant but this night they were not at their best."

  • "We had never been to Larkin's but had heard good things about it. We were not disappointed. From the special 'Happy 20th Anniverary' note, the great meal, and then the free dessert for our anniversary. All excellent. We will definitely be back."

  • "Took my wife her for our anniversary. Restaurant is a little hard to find but well worth it. The service and the food were outstanding. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and very knowledgeable. The filet was to die for as was the molten chocolate cake. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend to anyone!"

  • "Service was the worst we've experienced since we've been dining at this establishment. That being said, it was still good service. The waiter just seemed as if he was displeased having to work on a Friday night but still managed to take care of everything with a smile. The food has always been outstanding! We will definitely continue to dine here!"

  • "This was our (wife and I) first time at Larkin's By The River. The atmosphere, dinner and service was splendid! This was definitely a night to remember for us. The taste of the food was mouth watering delicious. It did not need any additional seasoning or sauces (hat's off to the chef)! It was definitely a mature and romantic atmosphere. Yes, it's expensive, but worth it when looking into the eyes of my wife of 25 years!"

  • "Truly outstanding experience for recent celebratory luncheon--EVERYTHING simply delicious with impeccable service. Cannot wait to return in spring to overlook the FALL's area and enjoy lunch or dinner--save room for dessert trio(perfect to taste and share!) BEST flour less She Crab Soup ever!"

  • "The food was very good, but not the best I have had. Nor was the ambience or service. For the price it wasn't worth it. Sullivan's Steakhouse was by far a better experience at the same cost."
