Diner Reviews
  • "Larkin's never disappoints! Their food is always tasty, and service top notch."

  • "Impeccable service and even better food. Decent beer selection (bottles only) but better wine list. Wish we could visit Greenville sooner so we could go back. I think it will be a while until we find food or service that will match, much less exceed, Larkin's"

  • "We had some concerns after reading some of the reviews but have to say it was an awesome dining experience. Our server David was impeccable and made great recommendations for wine and food. The tableside prepared Caesar salad was great. The surf and turf and the lamb were both excellently prepared. The sides (lobster potatoes, brussel sprout hash and creamed spinach) were generous and delicious. The rock candy sticks served with the cappuchino were a sweet touch."

  • "Our first visit to this restaurant. The food was fantastic, although it really adds up when you add sides. The service was good. We were disappointed that they sat us outside, plus we had a very loud large party next to us. This made it hard for us to enjoy a dinner conversation. This is a special occasion place, as prices are high"

  • "My wife has celiac disease and this is the first place we felt 100% comfortable that she could order anything on the menu and if would be gluten free! Will go back for sure!!"

  • "We dined at Larkin's before attending a concert at The Peace Center - we could not have picked a better place! A convenient location and the ambience is so relaxing, comfortable and just all around pleasant. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. Very courteous, took care of all our needs. The menu is great with a steak house type of presentation - meaning, to me, everything is a la carte, which I like. The appetizer options are varied including crab cakes, bacon wrapped scallops and she crab soup. The parmesan frites are a house favorite. Salad options are good, too, with the feature being caesar salad made table side. Of course steaks are offered as are tuna and salmon. The wine list if very good, too. We totally enjoyed it!"

  • "My wife had the sea bass which was not good at all as it did not smell nor taste fresh. I had the filet which was great. My advise, stick with the steaks at Larkins."
    Dined on 7/21/2014
  • "Great place and great outside dinning area. The inside is fantastic. Excellent food. It was difficult to decide on what to get which indicates a good menu. The She crab soup was good, but a little thick. I have had better in Charleston, but I would still eat it and get it every time I do return to Larkin's. I had the Osso Buco which was pretty incredible. My wife had the salmon which was excellent. Overall, great restaurant and great food. My only complaint was the waiter had to peak at his notes for one of the specials. It may just me my thing, but a restaurant of that level should have perfect training and education. I prefer a waiter/waitress to know the menu like it is their mother's. Know it inside an out. I will go back."

  • "We celebrated my wife's birthday at Larkin's on the River. Unbelievable steaks for both of us. Among the best we've ever eaten. Our server, Brian, was wonderful too."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The she crab soup was excellent, but my bone in ribeye was improperly cooked the first go around and over done the second. My companion had the shrimp and scallop salad, both the shrimp and scallops were cold........."

  • "My wife and I went here for my birthday. I has the filet 7 oz and it was the best I have ever had."
    Dined on 7/15/2014
  • "Everything about Larkins was great! We went there to celebrate our 8th anniversary and received a greeting card from Larkins upon our arrival. The ambiance was great, our server was wonderful and the food was spectacular! My husband had the filet mignon and I had tuna- both were huge portions and amazing. To top it off, they gave us a free creme brûlée desert for our anniversary... Very sweet!"

  • "Larkins is a very good restaurant, the bar staff are very good and the food is really nice. Its also great to sit in a fine dining environment with a nice crisp white table cloth, smarter than a lot of other restaurants in Greenville.."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "I ordered the free range chicken. It was good, but not as good as before. The chicken usually has that delicious bacon flavor going all the way thru every bite, but not so much this time. It was also a not as tender as before. The bread pudding was very delicious. I definitely recommend Larkins to all my friends."

  • "It has a nice atmosphere. The food was pretty good, my one complaint was that there was an overall lack of seasoning to our entrees."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "We had friends in town who had heard of Larkin's and wanted to eat there. Our wives had fillets that they thought were good but overpriced. My friend and I had the Sea Bass which we were told was a house specialty. They were not very good. With a total bill of $137.00+ for dinner for 2 with 2 drinks each and soup it sure wasn't worth the money. Also I called about an hour and a half before my reservation to try and push it back an hour. I was told that just wasn't possible. Well the restaurant never got over 1/2 full the entire time we were there."

  • "You cannot go wrong with Larkin's. The food is exceptional, the service attentive and the setting is fantastic. We went after a show at the Peace Center. While there were diners there trying to finish in time for the evening show, we never felt ignored nor did we feel there was service degradation due to a "time crunch." Go and enjoy a fabulous meal!"

  • "Overall very good. Main complaint was that it was very warm inside, felt like we were sitting on the patio. Service was fantastic!! Food was very good as well except my girlfriend gave exact instructions on her filet and it came out wrong. Asked for a slight pink and absolutely no blood on the plate. The waitress said "medium plus?" Exactly!! It came out medium rare, very cool and red but there was no blood. Had to send it back which they corrected but I hate sending food back, ever!! The fact that what my girlfriend ordered and the waitress knew exactly how she wanted and it came out wrong did bother me especially with the price you are paying. It should come out right the first time. We still Had a great evening, we will be back!!"

  • "Larkins is a true gift to Greenville! I was in the restaurant for my birthday. Everything about the restaurant:the food, the wine list, the cocktails, were spot on. Even on an extremely hot day, the ambiance was comfortable the wait staff were pleasant and though the restaurant was crowded it felt like we were attended with the utmost care."

  • "My husband, who is in the food business, thoroughly enjoyed his dinner at Larkin's and I did as well! The she crab soup is exceptional, the salmon was cooked to perfection and the creme brulee was delicious. The service was the best! This was our second time at Larkin's on the River and we will be back!"

  • "First visit to Greenville and selected Larkin's for brunch. We had two excellent dishes: Larkin's Benedict and another dish with egg, spinach, roasted tomatoes and bacon atop dark rye. Food arrived to table quickly and was delicious."

  • "I would have expected so much more with the price and the other reviews. Service was weak. Food was not as requested. Had to wait for drink drink refills. Steak was barely cooked and I took more home for my dogs than I ate. Bread came with the meal and not before. What a disappointment for $150."

  • "She crab soup is to die for but portion was way too large for such a rich/heavy item- felt bad wasting over half of it. Filet melted in my mouth- cooked to perfection! Service was impeccable."

  • "Great food (especially fish) but partly overpriced entrees (meat). Very kind and caring waiter."

  • "I requested outdoor seating when I made my reservations but had no idea we would be seated in the sun. There were only a few tables in the direct sun and ours was one of them. After about 30 minutes someone did roll out the blinds but it didn't help much. By the time I paid I was soaked in sweat. Other than that it was fine."

  • "Fantastic River View & Food...This was a Father's Day great treat! Professional service, great meal and superb atmosphere. Our three year old grandson enjoyed the friendly staff and the super French fries=kid friendly establishment. We were also entertained by the hustle, bustle of a wedding reception being held at the restaurant. Explaining to a three year old was helped by staff serving the reception. He has a date with the flower girl in sixteen years... Highly recommended. Gorgeous view of the river."

  • "Excellent food-Ed our server was very attentive and plesNt. Best food I have had in years. The Mac is fabulous and the Brussels sprout hash is incredible (if you love Brussels). Would highly recommend."

  • "This place keeps on giving...everything was impeccable. We had the ceasar salad made fresh at our table...delicious, followed by the torpedo steak...it was fabulous, and finished with creme brulee and chocolate cake to share...both to die for. We sat outside and listened to great music. It was a perfect experience...looking forward to our next visit."

  • "All members of our party thoroughly enjoyed their food!"

  • " Although the food was delicious and drew raves from the group, nothing could have made up for the unacceptable level of service. Even though there were few people there, we sat 1h and 45 min from start to finish. I've never had to wait so long between the various aspects of dining out for a meal. I had to hunt our waiter down to place our order and to ask for the checks, which when they came, were wrong - twice. We actually began to feel sorry for our waiter! In a fitting finish, when I called and talked to the manager to let him hear of our experience, he was barely apologetic! Needless to say, I won't be back."

  • "We celebrated Father's Day on patio. Great location, sun shade was nice addition, love your outdoor chairs that allowed me to fully support my problem back on the back rest. Called ahead to ask Maitre D not to mention # in reservation party since one guest was surprise for dad. Host was professional and wrote note in book to prevent anyone from mentioning. The food was excellent as always. Apps, entree, and desserts. Our waiter was prompt and observant early on in the evening but as the evening went on he seemed to be less attentive. After we paid our bill, we stayed and talked at the table. I finally had to call out to another server to have my water glass filled while we chatted."

  • "The food at Larkin's has never been disappointing. The brunch was no exception. My husband had the steak and eggs and nothing was left on his plate. That rarely ever happens. The rest of us had shrimp and grits and they had a great flavor. The grits were a bit overcooked, but the dish was very flavorful and the shrimp were fantastic. Our waiter seemed to be stretched a little thin however because the service was lacking, but overall it was a wonderful experience."

  • "We sat outside on the patio for Brunch on Father's Day. We had reservations and were seated right away. The brunch menu was good along with an omelette bar which was excellent. Our only complaint was that we had to ask them to turn on the overhead fans even though it was clearly needed with the growing heat and humidity, and some of them were set for the opposite direction from cooling, so it wasn't very effective. Next time we'll have brunch inside. Overall a fine experience."

  • "We had the steaks and veal special. The filet mignon was so tender it could almost be cut with a fork. The she crab soup was the best I've had. This is a great location with superior service. I loved the wine selection. If you're taking in a performance at the Peace Center - this is right next door."

  • "Greenville SC has a great feel and Larkins is right in the middle of it all. The restaurant is a perfect place to eat before an event at the Arts Center or just a night out on the town. Take time to enjoy the location as it is on the river."

  • "We loved it everything about it, the food, staff everything was fantastic. For a first time visit I was very impressed, we had a birthday celebration here. I was looking for food art, that's something my family & I love to do! Not everyone has food art! But it was perfect for the occasion, it made our birthday celebration extra special. Our waitress was fantastic hands down! I was just so please with our waitress as my daughter would say she's the bomb! After we ate and left we could not stop talking about how great everything was, fantastic! We has an awesome experience. We will be back!! We just enjoyed our fantastic birthday celebration at Larkin's on the river, I will highly recommend to all my family & friends!"

  • "What a fantastic restaurant. It's like Boston or Chicago in Greenville, SC. Everything from the location, to the people, to the menu, to the taste, to the last drop of wine was perfect on my first visit. I had a special appetizer of fried seafood chunks (Sea bass, shrimp with little potatoes) - wow. Chef also sent out a sample of artichoke dip with tortillas. Double wow. Followed that with a bowl of She Crab soup - better than any lobster bisque I've ever had. Entrée was a 9 oz. Filet with gouda mashed potatoes. This place knows food. Wine: St. Supery Cabernet Sauvignon. I will be back next time I travel to Greenville."
