Diner Reviews
  • "A lovely evening.the service was great and the good tasty!A must"

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at Larkin's On The River. My wife's steak was perfect and the Salmon was perhaps the best I've ever eaten. The sides and presentation added to the experience. I recommend the outside dining option. Many have commented on the slow service and it was painfully slow with long waits after ordering and between courses. However, given the choice between being rushed through the experience or spending a little over 2 hours enjoying the food, conversation, sights and sounds with someone I love, I'd do it all over again without hesitation. Some have also commented on the price but I consider it well priced for the quality of the meal and the over-all experience."

  • "Oysters were rubbery tuna was cooked correctly rare however I don't think it should be cold especially where it was seared, libertys she crab soup was much better which is sad to say, service was not in touch with our obvious displeasure.. Now my sons ny strip was done nicely and they do make nice mashed, you can make your own judgement. The manager wasn't very perceptive either oh well won't be going back after attending for many years, Augusta grill is much better just not the same atmosphere as downtown."

  • "While atmosphere and service were great, we felt like the meal was overpriced."

  • "We visited Greenville for our anniversary. The waiter was very attentive. There was a card on the table for our anniversary. We ordered the three course meal consisting of the surf and turf. The tenderloin was outstanding; but, the lobster tail was terrible. It was tasteless, and rubbery. If we go back in the future; we would definitely order the meat again; but, we would not order the lobster tail. It is definitely a great place to get steak, though. After our meal, the waiter asked for our valet ticket and arranged for our car to be ready for us when we left the restaurant. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for the attentiveness of the wait staff and the quality of the steaks that they serve."

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Larkins on River. We sat on the patio, which overlooks the amphitheater and the Reedy River. The service was great, and the food was excellent. I believe the prices are a little high, and I would advise people to ask the price of wine by the glass before ordering. An entrée with two sides will average $45 to $55, and my wife glass of wine was $15."

  • "Went with a total of 4 friends. It was delicious. Only complaint was the waffles taste like eating cardboard....that is the one exception to otherwise absolutely delicious offerings."

  • "We couldn't figure out how to get to the valet parking since we were visiting from out of town and it was a bit tricky. But after we told our server that we had trouble finding the valet, he offered to have the valet go get our vehicle since it was raining. So he did. We just described where we parked and gave him the keys. Excellent service!"

  • "Great place to celebrate a special occasion. We celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary here, and were extremely pleased with both food quality and service!"
    Dined on 8/9/2014
  • "Great time. The food as always was great. It was our 39th Wedding Anniversary and the note from Larkin's given to us by the Hostess was a nice touch. Ed was our waiter and he was great We shall always ask for Ed when we are at Larkin's again. Ed provided us with information about the Larkin's card, which no one had previously mentioned the many times we had eaten there."

  • "I took my wife for dinner on her birthday and I was startlingly impressed from the time we walked into the restaurant until we left. We were greeted with a birthday card and the waiter (Ross) was superb and very knowledgeable of the menu items. From the services, drinks to the filet mignon our experience was spectacular. We will undoubtedly give it four thumbs up with two great big smiles."

  • "Having made our reservation, we arrived a few minutes early. We gave our name, then waited in the door as the employee took a few phone calls. Finally she took the time to address us and despite asking for an outside table (there were at least twenty free tables at this time) she refused to sit us outside and gave no explanation. For an expensive restaurant the service was very poor to non-existent."

  • "The food is always fantastic and you should eat outside if possible. I've had brunch here as well on Sunday and it was really good, too!"

  • "Had a great meal at Larkins, but it was not inexpensive. Be ready to shell out some cash, but great for a special occasion."

  • "Larkins is one of those restaurants that stands out among the best in Greenville, South Carolina. The choice of indoor/outdoor patio dining is wonderful and is located right on the Reedy River. The view is terrific looking at the river along with the man-made waterfalls offering a soothing sound of cascading water. The service is always excellent, the food delicious! Larkin's is in a perfect location for those heading to the Peace Center. It offers free Valet Parking and after the renovations/expansion of the Peace Center, an elevator was installed to aide those that might not be comfortable with the steps. It's a great place to meet family and friends with a wonderful ambience!"

  • "Larkin's was described as a wonderful restaurant with great food. Even with that huge burden, Larkin's did not disappoint. Known for their She crab soup, I plunged into a rich bowl and enjoyed every tasty spoonful. I ordered bacon wrapped scallops (half order) and was blown away. Finally, I ordered the 7oz filet since Larkin's has an excellent reputation for its steak. My steak was tender and outstanding. Great atmosphere and great food. What else is there to say?"

  • "Thursday's dinner was a small business gathering (3). The hostess was welcoming and pleasant and accomodating of our table request. Service was excellent throughout the evening. The wine list is extensive and balanced with a range of wines by varietal, origin and price. The pace and presentation of the food was perfect. The manager checked in without being intrusive. While I've only dined at Larkins five or six times I plan to make it a more regular stop. Just a great evening."

  • "Nice service, menu diverse. Food was good but certainly not delicate, rich and tasty."

  • "I was in town to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. Surprised her with Brunch @ Larkins. Great place! Great Food! Nice view and the staff was awesome!"
    Dined on 8/3/2014
  • "I took my wife here to celebrate her birthday. Prices are a bit steep but for the location, ambiance and food it is worth it. Salad with scallops and shrimp was amazing. She crap soup is their signature for a reason. Would go back again!"
    Dined on 8/2/2014
  • "We went for a birthday. Our server Bill was very attentive, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Their signature she crab soup was delicious. I had the crab cake appetizer for my entree--huge and very good, lots of crab, very little filler. My husband had a steak which was cooked perfectly, and we shared the creamed spinach--also very delicious. Great room, not too loud, beautiful view of the river and park."

  • "The Chilean Sea Bass, table-side Caesar Salad, wine list, service and outside dining ... The best in Greenville!"

  • "Very nice dinner...service a bit slow..food good...nice cocktails"

  • "This was our first time at Larkin, the food was really good but did not like that it was a la cart."
    Dined on 8/1/2014
  • "Our server was excellent and tried very hard to makeup for a very expensive poor quality bone in filet. If you're going to charge $52 for a steak it should at least have some semblance of flavor. The quality of the cut was poor as well. This was my third attempt at Larkins and will never go back."

  • "We had a wonderful 27th anniversary on the patio, watching the sun set over the Reedy River, listening to the river, the falls, and the many water features at the park nearby. Our server was attentive without hovering, and made some excellent suggestions regarding a wine pairing and the specials. When the fish special ran out prior to my wife's order, he accommodated with another fish selection from the regular menu but prepared as the special had been. A surprise dessert ( delicious caramel peach cheesecake) with "Happy Anniversary" written in melted chocolate topped off the evening. Thanks to Guillermo and staff for making it a memorable night!"

  • "Best filet I've every had. Service was outstanding. Great outside experience"

  • "Food and wine were amazing. Their wine list substantial. Anyone could find a wine they like. Menu is flexible enough to accommodate picky eaters while presenting an absolutely fine dining experience. Drove an hour and half just to eat there!"

  • "Larkin's never disappoints! Their food is always tasty, and service top notch."
    Dined on 7/28/2014
  • "Impeccable service and even better food. Decent beer selection (bottles only) but better wine list. Wish we could visit Greenville sooner so we could go back. I think it will be a while until we find food or service that will match, much less exceed, Larkin's"

  • "We had some concerns after reading some of the reviews but have to say it was an awesome dining experience. Our server David was impeccable and made great recommendations for wine and food. The tableside prepared Caesar salad was great. The surf and turf and the lamb were both excellently prepared. The sides (lobster potatoes, brussel sprout hash and creamed spinach) were generous and delicious. The rock candy sticks served with the cappuchino were a sweet touch."
    Dined on 7/27/2014
  • "Our first visit to this restaurant. The food was fantastic, although it really adds up when you add sides. The service was good. We were disappointed that they sat us outside, plus we had a very loud large party next to us. This made it hard for us to enjoy a dinner conversation. This is a special occasion place, as prices are high"

  • "My wife has celiac disease and this is the first place we felt 100% comfortable that she could order anything on the menu and if would be gluten free! Will go back for sure!!"
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "Our only complaint is that when my husband made the reservations, he asked for a great seat. They sat us outside in the blistering heat. We asked a few times,be seated inside or in a shaded area of the patio, which the hostess informed us that they were completely booked and we could not sit anywhere else. They did lower the shade, which really didn't do anything. Normally I wouldn't have fussed about this, but there were six, ( i counted ) empty tables in the shade the entire time we were there. I did go inside to cool down in the bathroom for a minute and peaked at the seating, while I agree they were pretty full inside there was room for us to sit. We had planned on venturing out in G'ville, but we went home to shower we were so sweaty."

  • "We dined at Larkin's before attending a concert at The Peace Center - we could not have picked a better place! A convenient location and the ambience is so relaxing, comfortable and just all around pleasant. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. Very courteous, took care of all our needs. The menu is great with a steak house type of presentation - meaning, to me, everything is a la carte, which I like. The appetizer options are varied including crab cakes, bacon wrapped scallops and she crab soup. The parmesan frites are a house favorite. Salad options are good, too, with the feature being caesar salad made table side. Of course steaks are offered as are tuna and salmon. The wine list if very good, too. We totally enjoyed it!"

  • "My wife had the sea bass which was not good at all as it did not smell nor taste fresh. I had the filet which was great. My advise, stick with the steaks at Larkins."
    Dined on 7/21/2014
  • "Great place and great outside dinning area. The inside is fantastic. Excellent food. It was difficult to decide on what to get which indicates a good menu. The She crab soup was good, but a little thick. I have had better in Charleston, but I would still eat it and get it every time I do return to Larkin's. I had the Osso Buco which was pretty incredible. My wife had the salmon which was excellent. Overall, great restaurant and great food. My only complaint was the waiter had to peak at his notes for one of the specials. It may just me my thing, but a restaurant of that level should have perfect training and education. I prefer a waiter/waitress to know the menu like it is their mother's. Know it inside an out. I will go back."

  • "We celebrated my wife's birthday at Larkin's on the River. Unbelievable steaks for both of us. Among the best we've ever eaten. Our server, Brian, was wonderful too."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The she crab soup was excellent, but my bone in ribeye was improperly cooked the first go around and over done the second. My companion had the shrimp and scallop salad, both the shrimp and scallops were cold........."
