Diner Reviews
  • "All food delicious and our server was Fantastic. Good service."

  • "For a restaurant of a supposed high standard, getting large amounts of grit in my steamed mussels and a mouthfull of scales with my whole roasted branzino was disappointing. The mussels itself were ok but not outstanding and the branzino was a disappointment. The fish tasted good but the strange choice to put stuffing on top of the fish was not a good idea. The salmon my wife ordered was good if not outstanding. Not a good first impression of this place."

  • "The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived at 6 PM yet it took 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete the meal (without dessert). Also a bit expensive $112 (including tax and tip) for 1 glass of wine, 1 glass of beer, 1 appetizer and 2 entrees."

  • "I was having an awful birthday to begin with so I was hoping dinner with my boyfriend would help cheer me up. When I reserved a few days prior to my birthday, the person working at Lark Creek Blue asked if I wanted to add any special notes. I said that I was reserving for my birthday. I was looking forward to being greeted with a yummy birthday dessert at the end of the dinner, which never came. But even the dinner wasn't all that great. The lobster spaghetti tasted bland and my boyfriend's chicken was okay but definitely not worth the $22. After the dinner, I felt like I had wasted my money."

  • "enjoyed a delicious meal at Lark Creek Blue this week; food was tasty and prepared well. There are many restaurants to choose from at Santana Row bur this one should be on your list to visit."

  • "We had been here when this used to be called Yankee pier and we had fond memories. When my father-in-law was visiting us from Florida, I took him here, bragging about the seafood here. We had reservations but were seated in a noisy section near the bar which was not comfortable. The bread was served with water and as it turned out that was the only best part. I ordered Blackened Mississippi Catfish and my father-in-law ordered gumbo. My blackened fish arrived burnt and when I pointed this out to server, all she said was that is how it is served. Really? Like I had never had a blackened fish? wow, right there my mood went sour. My father-in-law said he had had better gumbo everywhere else."

  • "We eat here at least 1 every two months and frequented it when it was Yankee Pier. Its location in Santana Row is perfect for people watching on the patio and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The seafood is great and we love the ambiance. I would highly recommend it for date night and for family nights."

  • " We had the calamari appetizer. It was among the best we have had, very flavorful. My husband had the tuna and I had the rib-eye. Very generous portions and great flavor. We ended with the chocolate ice cream sandwich and the butterscotch pudding a great ending to a great meal."

  • "We loved Lark Creek Blue! I couldn't believe I'd never been before. Our server was darling, the food was delicious, and it was overall a wonderful meal. Would recommended to anyone!"

  • "We had been coming here for a few times. Food and service were generally very good but it's time to add some new items (at least some seasonal stuff) to make it interesting again. We loved the lobster spaghetti (ordered it every time)."

  • "Seafood is very fresh, but dishes were so so. Go for the ambience and romantic setting within Santana Row. Prices were okay."

  • "Cocktails are overpriced and only pretty good. Patio was great seating. The dinner menu seemed a little skimpy. The ribeye steak was awfully thin with little to no marble. The ahi tuna was quite good. Desserts were excellent, both the strawberry rhubarb crisp and the cheesecake."

  • "We done here a lot, but Friday night we were not too happy. We had reservations, but were given a table in the middle, right next to the service station. Our waiter took forever to take our order, and was pushing us to order drinks and our meal at the same time. Three different times, a server tried to give us food we hadn't ordered- the first time, we hadn't even see our waiter yet! One of our entrees had ingredients that was not in the description, and the other two were missing an ingredient!! We found this very unusual for this place. Usually, service is great and the food is awesome. We will go back, but will ask a LOT more questions about the menu! "

  • "We went before a movie for an early dinner and were probably one of the first ten patrons. Overall the experience was good, but far short of great. We ordered two fish dishes, sole and catfish; the fish was cooked perfectly and they were as advertised on the menu, but far less flavor that expected. I personally think they forgot the salt. Also the dessert was served cold, and frankly without the extra caramel sauce the butterscotch pudding was unremarkable. It was unfavorable in comparison to the amazing example from Brick + Bottle two weeks earlier. Hats of to the service, they were quite attentive and we were impressed with the host approaching us after initially seating us to offer an outside table."

  • "The food here was not all it was recommended to be. The Ravioli had way to much lemon, chicken tasted like it was covered with ketchup and felt like I was chewing rubber. The calamari tasted like it wasn't cooked all the way and the clam chowder was sub par. I could have easily gone to a chilis and had food that would have been WAY better. "

  • "We have been here several times and the service continues to decline. After sitting for almost 10 minutes with no service, we stopped a manger and asked if there was a waiter assigned to our table. The manager comped my wine and the entire staff spent the rest of our time there falling all over themselves to make up for the poor initial service. The food was great, as usual. I'm not sure that we will be back. The service has just got tent too unpredictable given then prices. "

  • "This place is great for brunch and dinner. It is also kids friendly. It has a nice out door sitting area. We will be back there soon! "

  • "The restaurant called and cancelled the reservation due to an emergency....When I called back to find out what happened no one picked up the phone."

  • "Haven't been there for awhile but the new changes are great! It's not cheap, but the prices ARE fare. The service was really good. We sat inside but near the double doors which were open to the street. There was music and a lot of people so it was a lively night. We asked for a gluten-free menu but was told they hadn't printed it out yet but within a few minutes, we had one. We will be going back more often now that it's redesigned and greatly improved!"

  • "We ordered a steak medium temperature. The steak came out mostly rare. The maitre d' brought it back to Chef Greer, who was at the counter right behind us. His look was not happy, his eyes rolling, he brought it back to the kitchen. When the steak came back out, it was mostly medium, but now it had all the mushroom and sauce on that we didn't wanted in the first place. They were kind enough to take the steak off the bill, as well as gave us complementary desserts. Professional wait staff, but certainly a lack of coordination between the parties involved, getting the steak brought out as ordered. Compared to other restaurants, I find the place is overpriced for the quality of food delivered to the table. The desserts are delectable though."

  • "Not sure if I would recommend. Service was adequate but not great. Food was good but not fit for a foodie. Atmosphere was nice but lacking real character. Bathrooms were dirty which always says a lot to me. Also they did not honor our request on open table for a "quiet table" and instead put us in the back by the patio door and kitchen. "

  • "This was our second week in San Jose and finnally Great, professional, attentive service! Our waiter Brian was very nice and friendly and the manager Thoi even introduced himself. I had an awesome cerviche and my husband fish tacos. They where both amazing device was excellent. We will be back!"

  • "I flew out from Florida for a couple of weeks surrounding some milestones. My mother had a grin on her face from when we stepped in until we left. Very many thanks! You will most likely be seeing us again before my departure."

  • "Maybe the best food in all of the San Jose area. Great for lunch never crowded. Did Mother's Day Dinner with Wife and daughter (10yrs old) and had a wonderful dinner. The restaurant probably is not the best for young children unless they are good in restaurants, more of an adult theme. The prices are what you would expect from a fine restaurant, if you are looking for cheap meal go to the Yard House up the street."

  • "My family and I went to Lark Creek. We had the steak, delicious.... tuna, excellent.... cooked perfectly and the jambalaya... excellent fish, fish, clams, mussels & shrimp all cooked perfectly. fish was so fresh, it melted in my mouth. Great waiter, patient with my kids. Very attentive, came back to see if we needed anything else, was patient when we weren't ready to order in the beginning of the meal."

  • "On a rainy day at Santana Row, with few people in Lark Creek Blue, and sitting in their only booth, it was a great place for 3 friends to have lunch. It was quiet and the service was very attentive. The food was beautifully prepared. However, I felt the price for the food was too high. "

  • "Went for lunch and ordered off their "lunch specials", which included a soup or salad. Didn't appreciate my soup showing up with my meal. When I complained, I was told "that's how we do it". This is very poor. Customers should not have to hurry to have their soup for fear their meal already sitting on the table will go cold. It also makes the table very crowded. The clam chowder was watery and uninteresting. The service was friendly and attentive. The decor is very nice. Oh, I must mention that the Butterscotch pudding is off-the-charts FABULOUS! I might pop in again just to have that."

  • "Recipient of a gift card, my best friend and I made the trip over The Hill from Santa Cruz for an exquisite meal. Our expectations were significantly greater than the offering. We had the curried cauliflower soup -- the highlight of the meal. Absolutely wonderful. The salad was good, with arugula and apple spears with cranberry. The prawns atop were good, yet nothing spectacular. Friendly staff. Our waitress, Nancy, was great! I ordered lemon meringue pie and was given 1/4 of the entire pie! My friend had berry & rhubarb crisp. Both desserts were so tart that they were quite difficult to eat. We were seated inside, requiring near-shouts in order to converse. I'll not return to this restaurant, gift card or otherwise."

  • "Living in Carmel, we're a little spoiled when it comes to fine seafood restaurants but Lark Creek Blue ranks right up there with the best we've tried. The menu is not huge but what they do, they do right. My wife had the salmon. I couldn't resist the steam clams but I was almost tempted to try the filet of sole and the swordfish delivered to the table next to us. Bottom line the salads, entrees and desserts we had were excellent and the service by our waiter, John Luc was superb. If you're going to Santana Row make this a definite stop."
