Diner Reviews
  • "My friend and I meet there on a regular basis, and the food and service are always tops. We like to share plates, and they never fuss about that."

  • "Easy and uncomplicated. Always a good meal. Our server was polite, helpful and paced the meal appropriately. Loved my steelhead trout. I could have skipped the artichoke appetizer."

  • "My reservation was late afternoon and literally there was four other tables in the entire restaurant. Our waitress was one of two and she was not attentive. It took 10 minutes for her to take our order and another 20 minutes for our food and we ordered two simple dishes. The waitress was not apologetic. The table next to us was flabbergasted by their wait and the waitress being clueless as to why the long wait. To further the let down- I discover the waitress who checked us in did not confirm my reservation with Open Table."

  • "The atmosphere was great, we dined on the side walk and it was great. the food was excellent and the service unequaled. Sit outside and let Kyle take care of you, the guy is a scream and knows the menu and dishes inside and out also the wine list."

  • "We celebrated a birthday on Sunday, April 13th. 3 ordered the All American 3-Course dinner. 1 ordered the half chicken and 2 ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf. The 4th had the Halibut. All 4 dinners were delicious. However, the "half chicken" turned out to be a small breast and small leg. Not wanting to make a fuss during a birthday celebration, I did not say anything to the waiter. Speaking of the service, it was outstanding. Overall it was an excellent meal, but I was disappointed in the portion served. I might try it again but will speak up if that happens again."

  • "Lark Creek is a very good restaurant. The food is healthy and delicious, and the signature dessert (butterscotch pudding) is worth the trip by itself. The ambiance is great and is appropriate for everything from a date night (nice decor, sophisticated waiters) to a Sunday night family dinner (kid menu with the basics plus a few treats that you wouldn't expect at a place like this, such as vanilla milkshakes). My one real complaint is that the kitchen must be overbooked, on multiple occasions, it took a really long time for us to get served."

  • "We had six in our party. All of us enjoyed our food. The service was great. The room we were in was nice. The only downer was I thought it was really noisy. To the point where you were yelling to here one another. This could have been the acoustics but also we had an extremely boisterous table in the same room with us. I think you could bring older kids here and be fine too. Although, I didn't see any."

  • "We've gone to this restaurant for years and had good overall food and service. This time the asparagus soup was bitter, so we sent it back and my halibut was undercooked and had to be redone. Service was a little spotty. Will hope it's back to it's old standards in the future."

  • "Seems the only time waiters/waitresses here are really interested and happy are when they give you the bill."

  • "I love Lark Creek and have dined here many times. However since becoming a vegan a year ago, I am surprised to see there are not really any vegan options on the menu. I did get a kale salad without the cheese, and a bowl of spinach when I last went. Please think about putting a vegan entrée on your menu."

  • "Our local favorite. LC is our go to restaurant of choice in the east bay...always good."

  • "We've been to Lark Creek many times, usually with good results. This time both the menu & food were disappointing. Lunch for 2 was close to $100 (small salad & paella). Definitely not worth the price."

  • "We went for lunch on a Sunday with 3 children. Everyone liked their food, which is rare. The service was courteous, but not very attentive. We kept having to flag people down to ask for more water, rolls, drink refills. Overall a nice dining experience"

  • "Our favorite east bay restaurant. We dine here at least once or twice a month."

  • "a bit pricey, but still a solidly good restaurant after all these years"

  • "The food was very good. We ordered a variety of different main courses ane each one was hot and plentiful. Good place to dine with friends and share great conversations."

  • "Our experience at Lark Creek was full of charm. Our waiter, Jeff, has a great sense of humor, friendly as if he knows us, just charming. The other patrons tell a lot about the restaurant. They were in a celebratory mood, it seemed. Then the food was excellent. From all sides it was a charming experience!"

  • "I went to Lark Creek for my dad for Sunday brunch. I had the All-American 2-Course Brunch with the Cinnamon Brioche French Toast and blueberry muffin and my dad had the Chef's Healthy Lunch (a chicken sandwich with cranberry mustard and sliced fruit on the side). Highly recommended!"

  • "Not bad - just ordinary. Waiter was overly solicitous and ended up being rather amateurish but the hostess was particularly kind to my elderly mother. The bleu cheese crumbles alleged to be on the salad were micrscopic if present at all. Overall, a feeling of ambivalence: What just happened for a hundred bucks? Won't be back. Too many superior alternatives."

  • "My all time favorite restaurant. I ordered the filet and found it to be bland. The lemon drop, watery and not the usual tart flavor. I have never had a bad lemon drop but this one was a disappointment."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Friday night gumbo isn't very good and the paella is also not great. They were great with the kids giving them carrots and dip and water immediately. Also gave them crayons and kids menu and this worked out great. Too bad the food is mediocre."

  • "Always enjoy coming to Lark Creek. The food is good. The service is typically excellent. They are always very accommodating to any special needs you may have. Occasions are fun to celebrate there. Will be back again and again and again."

  • "One of our go to places. Always good food and usually friendly, good service. First time the service was subpar. No follow up as to how are dinner was or if anything else was needed."

  • "Everything about Lark Creek is typically fantastic but on this particular day a portion of my food was not completeley cooked."

  • "Food was delicious but food server was a bit too cocky and full of himself. Was extremely energetic but would not follow through with what he said he would do for our table. I will get you water…no water. I will get your cocktails…..waited forever when it wasn't even busy, sat and sat and sat while we waited for our check. He was just standing around chatting with other food servers. He was very nice when the check finally came (of course) and then rushed to the table when we hit the door to see what we tipped him….very tacky! Would I come back, yes, but would request to sit in an area where the best food server is next time."

  • "We were a group of 8 and our table was set and on time. We had an excellent server and he was helped by others. Our food was prepared. Exactly as we ordered and with the help of 2 other servers we were all served at. the same time. Food was excellent. Noise was low enough that we could talk and be heard. I think all of us would go back."

  • "I dine out at least three times a week. I do not recall having service this bad (even in third world countries). We waited close to an hour. Then ask the waiter what was up. I suspect he forgot to enter the order. Finally the food was delivered, but one of my guests ordered soup as a first course and it never arrived. We will never return"

  • "We had a very nice dinner here the other night. I hadn't been to Lark Creek in awhile and their menu has changed a bit. The recommendations that our waiter made were great. Jeff was the waiter and he was both friendly and knowledgeable. He seemed to hit the right balance of being helpful and informative without interrupting our conversation. He also had a great sense of humor. One of us had the baked petrale sole which was excellent. The root beer float was also a tasty finish to the meal. My only comment is that we don't eat pork and the menu seems to have a lot more pork on it than in the past. Even the roasted chicken had a pancetta sauce. We asked for the chicken without sauce and the result was that the chicken was a bit dry."

  • "Try the pot roast, so flavorful. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf which was very bland and the bacon was not well cooked. Prices seem higher than quality of the food. Not for foodies."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Food excellent. 3 different pallets all satisfied. A little too noisy for all of us. Felt like we were all yelling our conversation. Table was right at service station which I did not like"

  • "I was so pleased to have such a nice table in an area that was quite private for the first part of our lunch. It was perfect for the private conversation I wanted to have with my friend. Thank you!!"

  • "We dined at Lark Creek on a Saturday night with another couple. We had a great table in the room behind the bar. Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and portions were perfectly sized. Also, enjoyed the Ruby cocktail. I am never disappointed when I dine at Lark Creek. Thanks for another great dining experience."

  • "Got seated right away and waited and waited for a server to come over. After 17 minutes, my friend resorted to going to the host to ask for service so we could get a cocktail, water and eventually food. Finally service arrived with no apology for the long delay. The restaurant was partially full so I feel it was just poor service. Food was good overall."

  • "We were seated along side the serving area, which was vrey noisy with a lot of traffic from severs and the kitchen manager calling out orders. Not sure why we were placed at such a suboptimal spot given the number of empty tables while we were there. It did speed up our departure, so perhaps there is method to the madness."
