Diner Reviews
  • "excellent food and service!! Restaurant is beautifully decorated"

  • "The food here is not remarkable. Just good typical home-style. The paella on the table next to us did look amazing. We had the Picadillo and the Pan-Seared grouper which were good; something I would have made at home. The appetizers (Tostones rellenos and empanadas) were ok too, but cannot be compared to the ones we've had at Ola, for example. Service was good."

  • "I have been there many times, but not since they renovated the restaurant. They did a beautiful job, very beachy, airy, tasteful. Food and service excellent as usual! Love to bring out of state friends to dine here...it's a Cuban cuisine paradise!"

  • "Larios on the Beach offers amazing Cuban cuisine and a stunning view of South Beach’s Ocean Drive. The restaurant, owned by Gloria and Emilio Estefan has just been re-opened with newly designed interiors and menu! The staff is very friendly and the food is excellent. Drinks, Appetizers and main dishes were all served fresh and HOT! I can recommend the ceviche, avocado salad, vaca frita, triple C grouper, and my favorite dessert Flan. Also, try the mint lemonade, it is like a mojito without the rum. Larios on the Beach is a MUST if you are visiting South Beach and crave Cuban food."

  • "Four people on party and we each ordered something different. Two of us took ingredients off of our sandwiches and the waitress did not take note of this. Sandwiches were wrong and nothing like the description on the menu"

  • "The fact is Cuban food isn't difficult to find in Miami, so going to Larios on the Beach was more for ambiance. But before I plunge on that, we did have a great Calamari app to start, not tough or greasy with just the right seasoning. I had Lechon Asado, fair in taste with adequate seasoning but I've had better coming out of La Carreta and a lot cheaper. My wife had the famous Palomilla, can't go wrong here, although not a dish fit for a romantic conversation since it got cold quick. Had to ask for bread, not given without asking. Had Arroz con Leche, not like my mother use to make...too sweet and somewhat tasted like refrigerator. Café con leche to finish, awesome! Live music was the best part. Waiter, slow service but personable."

  • "This was a great spot- right on Ocean boulevard. Very loud with a small band playing, but fun! Food was great- had the steak. Portion sizes were just right- not too big or small. Good for couple or small groups- large group may be difficult due to noise level."

  • "Too cold in the restaurant and the wait service was a little slow."

  • "We shared the calamari which was just ok, kind of rubberie, however the entree was excellent. I had the skirt steak which was cooked perfectly and very well seasoned and my friend had the fish which he indicated was very good. The music was an added plus and service was excellent."

  • "Our hotel was next door and the staff recommended the restaurant that is authentic cuban food and it's owned by Gloria Estefan. My wife and I decided to give it a shot and we were not disappointed, while Gloria Estefan was not there, the food summed up in one word was AMAZING. The empanadas were delicious, the mojitos were to die for, the skirt steak was out of this world, the flan and cuban coffee were the bomb. The service was great and I give them and the food a 10 out of 10. We have never been to a restaurant where we ate everything that came out on our plate. Definitely recommended if you're in Miami...can't wait to go back."

  • "Newly remodeled and gorgeous! Food is always top notch. The Lobster Criolla is amazing and the Pineapple Mojito's are the best on South Beach."

  • "Restaurant was in a temporary location in a hotel restaurant. Keeping the place open during the transition only hurt them. Should have just closed and reopened when things were up to the level expected. Our expectation was for a great lunch and it was marginal at best. Maybe try the new location and hope for better."

  • "I always look forward to good food at good prices and good music at Larios. Since the renovation the portions are much smaller and cost more. The bar was moved to the other side of the lobby eliminating the only place people were able to dance when live music is being performed. The decor that embraced the Cuban culture has also been eliminated. There is no longer has a distinction between Larios and other restaurants on Ocean Drive."

  • "The restaurant has a beautiful decor, the service was good everyone was very nice but I think the food was pricey and the the noise level was extremely high.. I am glad I went but it is not a place I would be going back to.. maybe only to seat outside and have a drink but defitenely not inside for dinner "

  • "I took my wife here for Dinner with friends. We where fans of the old location and I was excited to see the new site open. Beans and rice was cold. Calamari was hard. The Pork chucks platter had half meat and the other half was fat. The menu says Brown Rice is a side but when a friend went to order it they said it was an up charge. They forgot another friends side salad totally. We ordered the following at the bar, 1 Crown and Diet Coke, 1 Martini, 1 glass of Malbec and 1 Margarita, grand total for the 4 drinks? 80 dollars. I know its South Beach but thats pretty ridiculous. We drank water the rest of the night. I could have gone to Havana 1957 on Lincoln road and had better food. Very Disappointed!"

  • "It was so great that my wife and I went Friday and Saturday night during our vacation! Incredible authentic Cuban food, great music and atmosphere. I would recommend it to everyone visiting South Beach. We will absolutely be coming back on our next visit. "

  • "The menu looks very inviting but disappointing. I now its South Beach and I expect it to be pricey buy there should be something on the plate. The pork tamale was tasty but barely any pork. The empanadas boring. The seared grouper was fresh. The garlic shrimp was Ok.I would not return here when there are so many other places to try. Service staff could care less Gloria should stick to singing. "

  • "Wow! What a lovely place to take out-of-town visitors, especially when they are a son and his wife celebrating his 50th birthday. Rarely do we dine inside when a terrace beckons, but we wanted to be near the live music (excellent). The white walls embedded with shells and imprints of fish surrounded us with dazzling elegance. The service was perfect, attentive yet not over-bearing, among the very best we've experienced on the Beach (we live here). But the food!!! the most delicious, moist lechon ever served, excellent seafood, moro and maduros. Beautiful presentation, also for the cocktails. We will go back. Thank you, Gloria and Emilio! Your care and creativity show in every way."

  • "Reserved via Open Table for husband's birthday dinner & specifically asked for nicely-situated table for 3. Table was ok, but birthday event was never addressed. This was not so much of an issue as was the service. The server stopped at the table 4 times within a 10 minute period. Finally, I felt pressured to order an appetizer--after ordering the absurdly expensive $16 "luxury" Mojitos. The taste of the food was somewhat commensurate to that of Havana Harry's in the Gables, but portions were smaller! At the end, the server brought an erroneous bill--twice! Careful if you are splitting the bill b/w two. I LOVE Deco Drive, but will think twice before taking their recommendations from here on. Super expensive & mediocre experience no doubt. "

  • "Cuban food was overrated, you can go to a diner in Hialeah and get better food for less money. "

  • "Probably one of the better restaurants on the Ocean Drive strip in South Beach but it's about the spot more then the food or service. We chose to sit outside on the sidewalk which delivers what you would expect in terms of people watching and high stimulation. The scene is the draw, better Latin can be found."
    Dined on 5/21/2014
  • "Not just the venue but the menu has also changed and the portions have changed...was a great unpretentious place...now just another South Beach over-priced over-done place. We used to go every time in Miami. I doubt we will ever go back. "

  • "Found a hair in my meal. Asked to speak to the manager. 'Ray' the manager suggested that it was my hair even though I have short dark hair and the hair I found was long and light. Absolutely ruined our dinner. Thanks for the bad memories Larios!!!"

  • "Despite being a scene-y place on Ocean Drive, Lario's can hold its own with their food. Everyone enjoyed their meals - I especially was a fan of the Arroz con Pollo. The portions were very large (which is surprising for South Beach) and prices are quite reasonable. Definitely a recommended spot when you're visiting South Beach. You may even spot a celeb or two!"

  • "My friend and I were only in town 1 night and our hotel had a Miami book of local things. We perused the dining pages and voted we must do Cuban cuisine while in South Beach. We shared the ceviche (grouper fish) came w/plantain chips, um AMAZING! So full of flavor I could have had 7 of those by myself, regardless of how full I would have been. We also shared the Famous Seared shredded beef with Moros rice, grilled veggies and sweet plantains. Also Amazing!! Everything was so delish. We quenched our thirst w/a carafe of Mango Passion fruit spritzer which was tasty but not much alcohol. Finishing it of with Cuban coffee (espresso) bill came to $73 for both. Not bad $$ for South Beach, we were stuffed, even with sharing! Will visit again!"

  • "Go for the location, come back for the food. Terrific birthday surprise! Parking is terrible, but given location it's to be expected. Valet was half the price of the meal for three with apps and drinks."

  • "In October 2013, we brought our friends visiting from France. Great service, decent food, good ambiance. Last Sunday, (again with friends from France) night and day. One waiter serving the entire floor and outside (the same great waiter we had in October), managers not paying attention the the floor and mediocre Cuban sandwiches. We know it's South Beach but the owner should be watching her empire. We will not go back again."

  • "Many local Miami friends raved about Larios. What they did not realize was that during our Miami visit we would be dining in a temporary location in the Cardozo Hotel while the permanent location is being renovated. That said, we will chock up our experience to one akin to a placeholder. The menu was very limited and many Cuban cuisine favorites were absent from the menu. The food was fair, not great and served at room temperature. Few vegetarian options. The presentations were unimaginative. Our waiter explained that they were sharing the kitchen with another restaurant. Our waiter was top notch. It was our experience with our waiter that has encouraged us to give the restaurant another try when it is back at its permanent location."

  • "Larios was great, Yisel, the Manager and the waiter were very professional, attentive and kind. Everything was perfect and delicious but the valet parking was a nightmare. It killed the experience. We waited more than an hour, the managers and the front desk people called the service repeatedly and the attendant did not show up."

  • "Larios has been relocated because the resturant is being renovated. If I'd known this I would not have booked. The temporary space is ugly and the place was empty on a Saturday night. I Had the award winning pork. If it was an award for dry tasteless meat then I can see why it won. Friends had eaten their in the past and said it was a great and lively place. Hopefully it will get better once they move back to their original location but in the meantime I'd give it a miss."
