  • "You know a restaurant is good when, on the way home, you can't stop talking about how good it was. The Burrata caprese as an appy almost melts in your mouth. We shared the Carbonara, Ravioli and Funghi pastas (sorry exact names escape me) and all of them were incredibly flavourful. The Tiramisu is the best I've had .. ever .. and I look long and hard for good Tiramisu everywhere I go. So great food .. combined with friendly staff (our waiter was the owner) who seemed to genuinely have an interest in your meal, means that we'll definitely be going back again and again."

  • "My wife and I have eaten a lot of restaurant meals over the years, including many in Italy proper- - but I'm hard pressed to recall a finer Italian meal. The service was excellent- - friendly, knowledgable, gracious. When I attempted to order the clams appetizer, the owner gently suggested that, since it was served in a white wine sauce, it would be better to go with the mussels, as we had ordered a bottle of chianti. He was right on. When I turned up my nose at the tiramisu (as I've never once had any I thought was worth a rip), he swore I'd change my mind. Again, he was right. It was excellent. This is a small, simple place, but don't let that fool you. It's a real find."

  • "I saw lots of great reviews for this restaurant online so my expectations were pretty high going in. I made reservations for my birthday dinner and I have to say I was not impressed. The food was mediocre. I ordered the tomato bruschetta which was very plain and not very tasty. I also ordered the lobster ravioli which was presented nicely but again lacked flavour. My partner ordered the cheesy gnocchi which he enjoyed but the portion was so tiny that he was still hungry! The service was a little slow and definitely not friendly (as expected again from the reviews of others). I'm not sure if we came in on an "off" night but I left feeling disappointed. The quality of food was nothing special for the price we paid. Good ambience though!"

  • "I really enjoyed our meal at l'Antipasto. Our waitress was extremely knowledge about the menu -- taking the time to explain each meal was I considering and didn't recommend the most expensive option (which means to me she was more concerned with me having a great meal than the price). The food was absolutely delicious. The pesto sauce is wonderful - worth getting bread to finish off the extra. It was a little pricy, but worth it for a good night out! "

  • "Our group of 5 girls started off by sharing a salad and clams (came with bread), and they were both incredibly fresh and delicious. We were also all more than very satisfied with our pasta mains. Dessert was also amazing. We shared the tiramisu, vanilla panacotta, and lavender creme brulee. They were creamy and had the perfect balance of flavours, so that none over powered the other. Absolutely amazing food and service. We all had a wonderful evening. "

  • "Squeezed between much larger trendy restaurants L'Antipasto is tiny. 9 tables inside, a few more outside. Open kitchen occupies nearly half of the space! We(2) were there for a late lunch and it was very quiet. Four staff (3 family?) Limited but expressive menu and oh so good. Best we have ever experienced including in Italy! Salt Spring Is. mussels, crab and lobster ravioli, calamari, shrimp, clam and crab risotto - you get the picture. Incredible flavours of springtime Italy. Top it off with a bottle of wine and you can't go wrong here. But it is tiny and could get crowded easily so make reservations and when full it might be a bit "energetic". A true family run, quality Italian cooking. English spoken but Italian preferred!"

  • "Reminiscent of a great meal we had in a family run restaurant in Florence: Italian cuisine, light on cheese, heavy on flavor. The owner served us and shared with us that her menu covers a cross-section of regional Italian cuisine. I had the ravioli dish which the owner advised us was her mother's recipe. It was delicious! My partner had the pasta vongole dish. She requested gluten-free pasta and found it to be the best gluten-free pasta offering she had ever eaten. All around, a great evening!"

  • "It is a small restaurant, 20 person max capacity I'd guess. The food was outstanding, made by a talented italian chef who cooked all the food right behind the counter. They have a great selection of italian wines, the cocktails are not bad but I've had better at lower cost. The waitress and bartender were were awesome, definitely made dinner that much more fun. The service was pretty much instant, since, as I said, the restaurant is relatively quite small."

  • "I came for dine out with my friends on February 2nd, and it was my second time here. The first time that I came here, I thought that the pasta was delicious and the service was excellent. The second time, the food was just as good, and the desserts were exceptional, especially the lavender creme brule. I'm not sure if the heat was on though, because my friends and I sat out at the patio (there was no more space inside), and we were freezing even though we were using the blankets. The service could have been faster this time around, we didn't get checked up on as often, but when our waitress did come, she was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back, and would recommend this place to more of my friends!"

  • "I went to L'Antipasto for my birthday with 8 others. The place was small, but there was a table set aside for us. It's a cute place with an open kitchen. However, it took us 2 hours for us to get from sitting down to having our main courses. Though we did order late into the evening (we sat at 7:50 and ordered at 8:30), our main course didn't arrive until 9:30. The food was decent but for the price and quantity, probably not so much. We had dine out menus as they didn't have their regular. I had good company, so waiting for food wasn't too bad, though. I'd say that this restaurant is good for those looking for a smaller and intimate dinner, because you'd be waiting so long. Also, I can't tell if the servers are happy or upset to be there."

  • "I love dining at family-run restaurants such as this one. It was surprising to find it tucked among all the ubber loud & trendy Yaletown restaurants! Food tasted authentic (although I'm not Italian!) & fresh. I especially enjoyed their Farfalle with a delicious sauce that included beef short rib--I didn't actually find any pieces on my plate but could definitely taste it in the sauce. The other dishes were very good but not quite "wow". My only complaint would be the super tiny dining room! Great for couples, even bit cramped for groups of 4. Their outdoor dining area looks like it might be okay for larger groups; will have to check it out in the summer :)"

  • "Beef carpaccio was oily, luckily the bread served with it soaked up the oil. Pappardelle was also oily, luckily it settled on the bottom of the plate so if you picked the food off the top, you're fine. Panna cotta was perfect. Would be nice if we weren't freezing in the cold and the server didn't throw the bill at us."

  • "Picked this restaurant based on menu & it was ok. Not a place I would chose to go back. PROS- The food was good, not amazing, nothing that stood out, but a 7 out of 10. CONS- This place is tiny.... majority of the restaurant is actually their patio. We were not told this when we booked so we were seating outside. The waiter tried his best to keep us all warm and there were many heaters but at the end our legs from the draft were frozen. CONS- minimal staff. This can be expected because of dine out. We were there for 2 hours. Very slow and disorganize. When we were finishing our pasta we realize other tables got bread to start and we had to ask for ours CONS- wear a rain coat..... 2 out of 4 of our party got a drink dumped on us."

  • "Went with a group of freinds for dinner during Dine out Vancouver. This restaurant is quite small, with a heated patio out front, enclosed for winter. Our table was located inside, and we could talk to the chefs while they cooked, which was kind of cool. My freinds and I enjoyed the food,my gnocchi was delicious and the panna cotta was excellent. The wine list list though small had some very good selections on it. The staff were very freindly and made our evening more fun. Would definately go back. I would like to try their regular menu."

  • "Had the Dine Out dinner menu. As there were 3 of us, we decided to try one of everything: the appetizers and mains were delicious, but the desserts were underwhelming. While the food experience overall was quite good, our dining experience overall was diminished as we were uncomfortably cramped - for our group of three, we were sat at a table for two on the patio. With dishes and glasses taking up all the table room, it was really difficult to eat with no extra space on the table. We asked to be moved to a bigger more reasonably sized table for our group size, but the restaurant was unable to accomodate us. The two who served us were friendly and as attentive as they could be given how busy it was."
