Diner Reviews
  • "Classic Vail steak restaurant that has undergone an fabulous remodel. Prime rib is a house specialty and does not disappoint. Service is spot on with knowledgeable, friendly staff. Window seats offer incredible views of Gore Creek and booths offer quiet, romantic seating. Make sure to leave room for the chocolate mousse and apple strudel with ice cream! One of the best values in Vail."

  • "Their prime rib dinners are always great. They offer 3 sizes of meat, cooked in special ovens. Other dishes are offered, but the prime rib is a crowd pleaser. When in Vail, we always have dinner here."

  • "My wife and I are foodies and we love this place. Great food, not overly gourmet, good service, and reasonably priced. We will definitely eat there again."

  • "Decor is Euro chic and comfortable. All our dinners were excellent and ample, Viener Schnitzel, Lamb Sirloin, and Prime Rib. My husband loved the Escargot and i loved the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. A lvely evening!"

  • "Well, I hate to give restaurants such poor ratings but these guys could so easily have made a nice experience out of it. The staff was nervous and made us nervous. While this restaurant had an outstanding wine list their cooking did not match and for the price - which included service btw, it was not worth it. I do not recommend this restaurant, esp after a day of skiing when you hope for a peaceful delicious meal."

  • "I have been going to Lancelot for probably 20 years now and it never fails to please. Their prime rib is always top notch. We also really enjoyed the clam chowder and spinach salad. The dinner rolls are excellent and always come out hot. The service is always excellent from the front of house to the waiters. The restaurant was renovated recently and it is impressive to see that it makes an effort to stay modern. Lancelot is always my first choice in Vail."

  • "It is one of the few restaurants with round tables! For groups of 6 to 8 is great!!! The Prime Rib is one of the best I've tried!!"

  • "Lancelot was okay but not terribly amazing, about what you would expect from Vail Village. I will admit the prime rib for which they were known was delicious, but the cost of alcohol seemed a bit steep for what you were getting."

  • "A nice, warm and friendly restaurant. Great prime rib. Needs to be a lttile updated in the decor and would like more variety in the sides offered."

  • "Their escargot appetizer was the best we've ever had. And the prime rib was perfection!!! Our server was friendly and attentive. We couldn't have asked for a better evening!"

  • "You can't go wrong with the prime rib at Lancelot's always served to perfection. This trip the tuna martini was fabulous as an appetizer. Great restaurant"

  • "Thank you to the staff for surprising us with a beautiful and delicious dessert to celebrate my mom's birthday. if you like Prime Rib - THIS is the place."

  • "Three of us went to Lancelot while visiting Vail on a ski trip. The room is great, surrounded by windows. Our waiter was superb, as was all the service. I had lobster bisque, followed by trout almondine. The bisque was very good, while the trout with wild rice was excellent. My friends had the house specialty, roast beef, and both thought it very well prepared. The dessert was an apple strudel, which my German heritage friend said was nearly as good as his mother made - very high praise! I'd be delighted to have another meal at Lancelot if I came through Vail again."

  • "The service was excellent as was the food. We had steaks that were perfectly cooked and had excellent flavor."

  • "Visited 6 Open Table restuarants in Vail and this one was a total disappointment. Went on Valentines Day with wife and was offered a 'cosey' spot. Turned out to be in a corner of what appeared to be a private dining area. One table of 6 had 4 very noisey kids. Wine list was sub par and over priced. Felt like waiter wanted to 'turn the table over' as we rushed through a meal for 2 of over $200. Never again at this spot. All other Vail restuarants we visited were 5*"

  • "We liked the food and our server but we were seated at the worst table in the house and when we asked to be moved to another table we were told they were all taken . Several much nicer tables remained empty throughout our dinner . While the food and service were good I probably won' t return thanks to the terrible table and inflexible attitude of the front table."

  • "My wife and I went for Valentine's Day and had a terrific experience. The food was well prepared, the pace of service was just right, the wine list was wonderful, the main courses perfectly prepared, and the desserts just delicious. We we sat in a small room off to the side of the main dining room and the only complaint for the evening was the fact that next to us was a raucous table of 6 that spent the evening at high volume (not the restaurant's fault). Otherwise, a flawless evening."

  • "Food and service were outstanding. Right up there as one of the best in the area. Setting looking out at the river was very nice. Highly recommend it."

  • "We were seated right away and were given a table with a view of the creek and the ice sculptures, which was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is very nice with a lodge like feel. I ordered The Cortez cocktail which sounded very interesting being a martini consisting of a German Riesling and Patron tequila. It was very good. Since they are known for their prime rib, we decided to try it along with the roasted trout. Our waiter said the prime rib is slow cooked over night. We don't know how this allows you to order it medium rare, but that's exactly how it came and it was delicious. The service was good but not exceptional as I only had water with my meal and it wasn't replenished until we were waiting for the check,"

  • "In the middle of Vail, CO so quite pricy, but compares well with other restaurants in Vail. We both had the signature dish - beef. The food was good, service excellent and (most importantly) lived up to expectations."

  • "Haven't been to this restaurant in years---sadly it was as I remembered---mediocre food in a tired setting. The prime rib was over cooked and lifeless as were the shrimp. I will not be back soon. Too many better choices in the Vail Valley."

  • "We went to Lancelot expecting a great prime rib dinner and were not disappointed - right up there with the best meals of our Vail ski trip. Enjoyed 2 fantastic red wines, as recommended by the sommelier (one was Joseph Phelps 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon)."

  • "Some of the best food we encountered in Vail. But the service was dreadful and the noise level almost unbearable."

  • "The Hostess lied! We made a reservation 30 Days before the event. Arriving at the restaurant we asked for a table near the window and the Hostess said that there were none available. Actually there were by the window a table for six people next to a table for four guests. We were a party of four. During our dinner, nobody seated at the table for four guests and the table for six guests was filled by only four. We were with two teens, but the Hostess probably waited for 'better" customers. It was a shame. I will never come back. Rgds.."

  • "We have been to Lancelot 3 times over the last two years of ski vacations. All three were wonderful experiences. Our family of four have had an opportunity to try quite a few of their menu items and have not yet found one that wasn't rewarding. It is obvious why the prime rib is their house specialty. It is a must try item. Service was exceptional. Wine list had lots of variety. I would suggest they add a Beaujolais for a more economical choice and maybe a few more Italian choices to their list. Don't miss this experience while in Vail."

  • "My husband and I went here last night b/c it was our first day off since December 13, and we wanted to celebrate xmas and news years. We have lived in Vail for a long time and had never eaten at the Lancelot restaurant. The ambiance was great. We were sat right by the window and it was snowing, perfect! We started with the bacon wrapped scallops and they were awesome!! Also the Frances Ford Coppla directors cut pinot noir, was excellent!! My husband got the prime rib,he said it was one of the best he'd ever had.The waiter found out my husband and I both work in the village and gave us a dessert on the house b/c he knew we were celebrating! That was a very nice touch! Chocolate mousse was fantastic!! Definitely will recommend to friends!"

  • "We have wanted to try this place for years, but it is closed in the off season when we are in Vail in November. We were back to Vail in January so we gave it a try. Ambiance was not what we expected. The roast beef was excellent, but the "airline chicken" was about what you would expect on an airplane! It was so dry it was not edible. Our waiter, Matt, sugested we just got a bad piece of chicken. Otherwise, his service was good."

  • "We have been coming to Launcelots for over 20 years. It has a beautiful ambience and lovely views to the creek in the back. The wedge salad was excellent and so were the prime ribs. My only complaint is that this year the main dishes were served a little cold. Restaurant was full as it was Christmas Day. Service impeccable as usual. A lovely place to dine!"

  • "We were welcomed, seated, and made to feel at home. We were served promptly. The food was served very warm, attractive, and ample. We were pleased with the taste of everything. We were not rushed through the meal, but allowed to take our time and enjoy. We will return again and again."

  • "It had been two years since our family has been here and it did not disappoint! The food was excellent, staff were friendly and professional. They updated the restaurant by moving the bar and updating the decor and it looked like anew place. We look forward to going back the next time we are in town."
