Diner Reviews
  • "The hotel is charming but the food was less than desirable. Very expensive. No taste/flavors. Would not go back."

  • "Such a lovely quaint place and we felt welcome. One of us needed a gluten free meal and chef Ella came out of the kitchen and spoke to me about suggestions. I wanted fish and she made a delicious ahi dish with a lovely sauce, mushroom fried rice and grilled broccoli. We were impressed with the dish the service and the quaintness of the restaurant. My husband had the marinated pork dish. Very tender and flavorful. Thanks for a delicious and memorable night in lanai city! Only wish they had the fireplace going especially since it was a cold and very rainy night! Maybe they weren't functional since it was an old building!"

  • "Very Disappointed. Prime Rib was very very salty. Ordered the Chicken instead and it was dry. Chef came to apologize which was nice. Meal was not compensated and I ate alone as my husband was done his meal. It's been 2 days and my tongue is still sore!"

  • "While on Lana'i for a 4 day weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday we stayed at the Hotel Lana'i (wonderfully quaint!) and ate here 2 nights. It was fantastic! We had the diver scallops, miso sea bass, venison, and meatloaf during the course of 2 meals. All were delicious and generous portions. We enjoyed the restaurant so much more than the big resort options on the island."

  • "We were recommended to Lanai City Grille by regular diners there and we were impressed. Friendly unobtrusive service with great local fare located in a charming old building in the center of town. If your a fan of fresh local seafood prepared without pretense and overpowering sauces then this is what these people do well amongst other excellent entrees. Would we return...absolutely.!!"

  • "We arrived in Lana'i on Christmas afternoon after flight from SF and ferry ride from Maui. We had a dinner reservation for 7, but decided to move it up to 5:30 since we were tired. The restaurant was very gracious with our time change, and sat us by the warm fireplace. We were not disappointed by the food and hospitality. I had the venison on risotto which was out of this world. My family had the Christmas special which was the prime rib, and the meatloaf, which were also very tasty. The banana lumpia dessert was delicious. The waitress was very sweet, and the servers were very professional. We felt very welcomed on our first day in Lana'i!"

  • "The choices on Lanai are pretty limited for non resort style dining and the LCG is homey and friendly and the food is delicious. We were on Lanai staying nearby at the Lodge and of the four dinners on the island we ate there twice. All day in the resorts and evenings coming back 'home' to this small wonderful dinner. And go to the Blue Ginger Cafe for breakfast or lunch and get a fabulous meal too in lanai City. All on the Four Seasons shuttle routes!"

  • "Everyone has steamed clams on the menu, and most are pretty good, so you're looking for above average, above normal. These were very good. Might be a testimony to the quality of the sake, I don't know, but some sake based steamers get bitter, and these were decidedly not. I had the venison, and the risotto was excellent, and (being a reduction nut) found that to be excellent, while others have been too salty. Net/net, the Lanai City Grille is a WONDERFUL place to have dinner, and from the looks of it, a great place to spend some quality time at the bar."

  • "We've dined here in Lanai City a few times now and have always had a good time. It's a very attractive place with gourmet "comfort food" and a lively, fun atmosphere. Clientele is a nice mixture of locals and resort guests."

  • "This was 2nd time for me to dine there since 5 years ago. Ambience was good and this time I had seafood. I would say meat was better than seafood there."

  • "The food at Lanai City Grill is comfort food and the selection and preparation is just right. The wait staff are particularly friendly and helpful and the place itself has a great history. I would highly recommend it."

  • "Loved it ... crab dip was off the charts and the Mahi mahi catch of the day was world class!"

  • "The food at Lanai City Grill was really very good. We enjoyed the meat loaf and the braised chicken & macaroni and cheese. We had to send one drink back as it was prepared way too sour. And another appetizer order never did come. We told the waitress and she was very polites and apologetic about it. Perhaps it was too loud in the place to hear properly. Overall, though, our experience was quite good."
