Lana Restaurant & BarFood was fresh, healthy butFood was fresh, healthy but exciting and incredibly tasty. An outstanding experience. I recommend the Chef's Table for noise control and ambience.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPre Theatre Quick Dinner.WE had tickets to see a play and the staff were very accommodating. As soon as they were informed of this they took it into account. The waiter was wonderful, friendly - but not overly gushy. The food was delicious. My duck was splendid and the chicken of my friend was just as delicious. But the Bolognese of my other partner was a little lack luster. We started with an anti-pasto platter for two - we shared it between three and it was wonderful, interesting and flavourful and plenty for three. We enjoyed the restaurant and I would happily return, but next time i would not be dashing out to the theatre.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good. However,The food was very good. However, the portions were on the small side. Service was excellent.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden GemLana is "off the beaten path" of Charleston's better known restaurants -- but worth the slight detour. Food is always immaculately fresh, imaginative, and tasty. The chef knows how to create complex sauces where you can still identify the ingredients. Wait staff are always a delight -- knowledgeable and fun! Wine list is not voluminous but carefully chosen and reasonably priced. Be sure to save room for dessert!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest duck in the CityGreat food at a great price! You will save at least $5 per entrée and get better food than if eat on King or the Market. Bar is beautiful but never seems crowded. This last trip my party decided that next visit we would come to the bar and drink eat apps and deserts.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMa great experience in Charlestona great experience in Charleston casual dining. Great menu, specials ,service ,food delivered by the chef, outstanding!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid, dependable, deliciousLana is a standby for us. Relaxed but attentive service, good food with seasonally variable menu, reasonable wine list and nice room. Great deals in early week - 1/2 price wines and free corkage if you bring a bottle! Good for lunch, too.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentThe food and service were excellent. Value for the quality was on target. Comfortable yet elegant atmosphere . Great for couples or night out with friends. Don't recommend for family dining. We questioned location when we arrived. Parking was an issue and the area seemed mixed, up and coming homes and those that had not yet been refurbished. Our reservations ended once inside the restaurant. If you want great food away from the big crowds this is a great option.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat neighborhood spotA step up from Hominy Grill and Fuel (both fantastic yet a bit more casual). Our waiter was very knowledgable, attentive and helpful. Will definitely be back!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat for a special occasionWe made reservations at Lana to celebrate an anniversary. The staff certainly made it a special event for us. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Both waiter and chef were attentive. The restaurant was lively but not overly full. The noise of the crowd was a little high, but altogether, it was a charming and romantic spot for a good and easy dinner. We will definitely return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful LanaChef John and his staff are amazing. John's personal attention to guests is above and beyond. He personally takes time to greet every party it seems. I cannot remember a visit where I haven't had a visit from him to our table. The latest time, he served our starter and explained each cheese selection for us. The food is consistently exceptional, and the cocktail menu is imaginative also. A visit to Charleston MUST include a visit to Lana5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gem.We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Lana. The chef clearly takes pride in his food, and it shows. Our server was casual and friendly, and he really knew the menu. High notes were the lamb spanakopita (rolled like Chinese spring rolls), Parmesan risotto and the house-made mint ice cream.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHome made DessertsCame in for dessert. All desserts are in-house home made. We opted for the Lemon tart and the Panna Cotta with a flan-custardy bottom drizzled with dried figs pieces. This is a cool stop off for dessert, but they also offer some delicious entrees. Stephanie was super awesome as our waitress with good recommendations on the offerings.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Lana! The Risotto isLove Lana! The Risotto is always great! Wonderful soups, and salads. A favorite of ours in Charleston!! Can't wait to go back!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AM0our group was ecelectic,0our group was ecelectic, from the midwest, philly and SC - with one diner having numersous allergies. The staff were attentive to all of us and made our experience exemplary5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and great serviceThis was my second visit with business guests to Lana. Both times I had a very good experience. The presentation of the food, the quality as well as the originality had been consistently excellent. The wait staff is knows the menu and the wine list, and they will make you feel comfortable, welcome and relaxed while adding a good sense of humor.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat at Lana often and alwaysWe eat at Lana often and always have a great experience. The food is always excellent and chef/owner John Ondo has a rare gift of adding his special touches to traditionally Mediterranean meals without making them (or himself) presumptuous. A true gem!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLana Never Lets Me Down!fithe or sixth time at Lana and this time was as excellent as the first!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant hits our sweetThis restaurant hits our sweet spot...a small bar area to enjoy a drink and conversation before dinner, staffed by a bartender with personality! Small enough to enjoy a quiet meal with your date. Knowledgeable, well trained wait staff. We enjoy seeing and meeting the Chef when the activity level slows down later in the evening. The community table is also a winner.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston is a town of manyCharleston is a town of many fabulous restaurants and Lana is one of them! The food and service were both great. I ordered the duck and it was so tender and the fig reduction was very tasty. The only reason I can not give the food a rating of 5 is that the dessert was not up to par. I ordered chocolate cake with espresso gelato and the cake was a little dry and the gelato a little icy. The reviews I read before going to Lana said that parking was difficult. We arrived at 8:00 on a Saturday night in April and immediately found a space on the street about a block away. I don't know if we were just lucky or it is not really that hard. I will find out the next time I go because I will return to Lana!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBest atmosphere, food and price!I have had the best experience both times I have been there! The atmosphere is perfect for a date because its romantic and cozy
But I also went with a girl frind and it was the perfect place to just get to sit, enjoy and chat all night! The food is beyond excellent and the
Prices are definitely better than most of the down town restaurants and you get amazing food! It's my new favorite down town spot!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThey even paid attention toThey even paid attention to my request for a quiet booth in the back! Kudos to a staff that perform so well!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at Lana's last FridayDinner at Lana's last Friday was excellent. Was bustling, service was excellent, food as always sooooo good. Nice to be able to park on the street. As it was pouring, one of the staff escorted each of us to our car under his umbrella. A nice touch. We have been going to Lana's for years and love returning there and introducing it to different friends.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food on Rutledge and CanonGreat food, and great service. Good neighborhood restaurant that is good if you want to get away from the tourist areas of CHS4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a wonderful experienceAlways a wonderful experience -- excellent menu and high standards for food and wine. Save room for dessert. Great wait-staff. Parking is a little difficult but manageable.
The new Gigondas on the wine menu (April 2013) is superb.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI NEVER order chicken at aI NEVER order chicken at a restaurant but I was drawn to the ingredients in the roast chicken dish so I tried it and it blew me away how good it was! Our server was very friendly and made time to chat/ joke around with us. The service was great. Atmosphere was hip without being snooty.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our third visit toThis is our third visit to Lana, and as we have come to expect, everything was outstanding. The food is to die for, whatever you order. The service is impeccable, with great tableside manner and humor. Finally, the timing on everything is right. What more could one ask, great food, great service, great space, and friendly, welcoming staff. We love it. You will too.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMReally wonderful meal, charlestonReally wonderful meal, charleston is known for fine dining and Lana does not disappoint. I had the duck and my boyfriend the rabbit. For an app we shared the mussels, the portion would have been better if we had had 1 or2 more people to share it with. It was huge. The cocktails list was inventive and I had a French gimlet. They have a large table near the bar that I'd love to bring 6-8 friends with me to eat and be social. I have no complaints. A gem off the beaten charleston path. More locals than carnival cruisers.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Charleston's best restaurantOne of Charleston's best restaurants. Always good, weeknights and weekends as well. They change the menu often enough, but even the items that are always on the menu are great. We live in the neighborhood and come here often, though we have dined most everywhere in Charleston. Great meat and fish dishes, soups, pastas AND the best vegetable plate in town. Other restaurants just put a few sides from other dishes on the plate and call it done. At Lana, they go several steps beyond and serve at least six very good vegetable preparation on the plate. AND, unlike some of the restaurants that seem to get all the press, Lana is reasonably priced. You don't have to take out a mortgage to go out to eat here. Kudos to Chef Ondo - everyday.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLana continues to be one ofLana continues to be one of our favorite places for dinner. It's cozy and warm, the servers are friendly without being too familiar, and the food is nicely priced and always good.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the trip out of downtown.Varied menu with dishes very tastefully prepared. Service was attentive. Prices are reasonable compared to many high end Charleston restaurants. Parking was a bit of a problem on a Friday night. We'll be back.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe only problem is non-foodThe only problem is non-food related : Parking very difficult.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AS ALWAYSWONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AS ALWAYS - OUR FAVORITE IN CHARLESTON!!!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe duck was fantastic! ParkingThe duck was fantastic! Parking on the street isn't ideal, but turned out OK. Definitely going back.
Our waitress was great, friendly, outgoing, attentive.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMalways strongMy wife and I talk with many people in town about restaurant experiences we've had. Lana is one of our favorites. None of our friends talk about Lana, but the experience has been strong since the first visit when you opened. We always come back and continue to "spread the word." Thank you.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the more reliable restaurantOne of the more reliable restaurants in Chrleston, Lana is my go-to restaurant downtown. Food is always fresh and excellent staff is spot-on in knowledge of preparation and wine list has something for every palate. Service is quite good and dishes are served in a relaxed but timely fashion. The only downside is that the time between dinner and dessert can, recently, be excessive if you don't order as soon as you server appears with the desert menus. Otherwise a charming and excellent dining experience.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA very nice little restaurantA very nice little restaurant and the food was very good. All 4 of us loved our choices, the wine was good and it was not loud. Only issue is parking. But we found a lot near by. We would go back.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMQuaint Restaurant, Delicious FoodMy boyfriend and I had a romantic dinner at Lana for a special occasion. The wine list was impressive and our food was delicious! The only downfall is finding parking for the restaurant. It is in an up and coming area and the streets are usually packed. We will definitiely be visiting Lana again though!2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantWe had not been in over a year just because of so many choices in charleston but were really glad we made it back. Our service was excellent. My partner has the shrimp cassoulet app and I had the scallop app, both creative, fresh and great. We had the duck entree and the short rib entree. Both very well done. The duck as been on the menu since opening and you can not go wrong. Best duck entree in charleston. Very small neighborhood restaurant. Give it a try.12/8/2012 12:00:00 AMWe will always dine at LanaWe will always dine at Lana whenever we are in Charleston. We had a wonderful experience last year and we again had a wonderful evening. The food is a little pricey for everyday fare, but it is consistently "fit for a king".
The service, both at the bar and while dining, is pleasant, friendly, and efficient. You will not be disappointed.
