In planning a long weekend visit to Montreal, I used some of the online restaurant rating services to locate Laloux. The ratings were accurate. It is a wonderful place. The food was very creative. I had the beef tartar which was a wonderful combination of tastes and textures. My wife is still talking about the Artic Char. My cavatelli was great. It was our best dining experience of the weekend. Looking forward to going there again.

I was expecting a better quality of food. I know good food and this wasnt one. I DONT recommend this restaurant for Special Ocassion or Fit For Foodies. But if you were thinking of somewhere to go with a friend with good ambiance and had moderatly priced food, this can work.

Creative subtle flavors beautifully presented. Farm fresh local ingredients, friendly and knowledgable servers who loved food and were excited to enhance our evening with info regarding food preparations and wine. Our waiter even hailed us a taxi himself! Very elegant setting that was unpretentious made this a wonderful evening. Worth the trip of 15 mins by taxi out of vieux port!

I went to Laloux on a Thursday night, and I was surprised to see how empty the restaurant was-only about a dozen other people in the place. With food and service as fantastic as this, the restaurant should be packed. We had the chef's menu, and it was nothing short of outstanding from the amuse bouche to the dessert. The presentation of each plate was just superb-the uni starter was served in the emptied shell on a bed of salt. Each dish was perfectly balanced in taste and texture and the ingredients were obviously very fresh and seasonal. My only minor complaint is a lack of cocktail menu-being American I'm used to craft cocktails-but the bartender/sommelier was incredibly gracious in making me something. Service was very friendly as well.

After concert/opera, my wife and I look forward to dining at Laloux because the maitre d' takes time to select a quiet table allowing us to chat about the performance without having to raise our voice. We also appreciate getting fast track service sordering our meal, selecting appropriate wines with suggestions from the sommelier, and since it is generally late evening and we are quite hungry, getting our entrées without delay! The beauty about Laloux is that all of this repeatedly happens when we eat out there apart from the fact that the food is impeccable and the price is right. We will be back soon.

I was at Laloux for a business lunch with 2 colleagues and this was a very quiet place. There were very few people on this Wednesday. So we were able to talk business without being disturbed. Food is inspired, very good in taste. We had salmon for main dish and scallops as an appetizer. Both were perfectly cooked. Wine list is not the most extensive one but contains many private importations which make it interesting for discoveries. Just one bemol on my list: there is a very limited selection of desserts on the lunch menu. For a restaurant of this level, it could be slightly extended. In summary, a good experience, not a memorable one, but it was exactly what I expected for a business lunch.

World Class Chef Jonathan Lapierre-Réhayem has been at the restaurant for 3 years, need I say more? We ate at this restaurant for the first time last week, the food was so good I wanted to cry, service was- let's just say it puts the Ritz Carlton to shame. I unknowingly mentionned it was my husband's birthday when I was making the reservation, and they actually wished him a happy birthday with a personalized little bag of cookies right before they served desert... Seriously? Super thoughtful, and I've honestly never have had such attentive service. My new #1 restaurant BY FAR (my previous #1 was Le Local)

Worth moving to Montreal for. My salad was comprised of about 10 different vegetables, picked directly from local farms by the chef, and exquisitely prepared and arranged. I've never heard my husband talk about fish the way he has described his meal at Laloux. He is still raving about it a week later. The service was warm, friendly and informative. Don't skip dessert, even if you typically would do so. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

We have enjoyed dining at Laloux for many years now, the first occasions when we lived in Montreal and mostly in the evening for diner, but now since we have moved out of province, we have discovered Laloux's wonderful lunchs, during our semi annual visit to Montreal. The wine pairings for lunch are a great idea and also well thought out. We have never been disappointed with Laloux.

Travelled to Montreal for the weekend and wanted to have a nice dinner. I booked the restaraunt unsing Opn Table it narrowed down the closest restaurants fitting my preference. The restaurant was easy to find and upon walking in my friend and I were greeted straight away. It was busy even though we booked our table for 9:15pm. The servers spoke English which helped and were extremely attentive. The good was fantastic an all levels, presentation, speed and taste. We had a cocktail and 3 course meal each and each dinner came to around $80 with tip. I would highly recommend this restarunt to foodies! I had steak tartar, veal sweetbreads, and profiteroles with caramel and vanilla bean ice cream.

This restaurant reminded me a lot of restaurants I have frequented in Europe. It is fairly small, has slower service, good food, many courses. It is a really great experience if you have time for it. The food was really good-like I mentioned we had a lot of different things-but my entree was a cut of beef with roasted fingerling potatoes and a great sauce. There were a lot of mixed flavors that were untraditional. A good find, and I would definitely recommend it.

On a sunny summer night, this is a lovely, simple place. Plus there is fine, modestly-inventive food. A starter of a house-made charcuterie platter was super - from a coarse pate to a head-cheese (don't be put off by the name) to house-made pickled vegetables, this was really good. That was followed by pork and clams, a traditional Portugese combo. The pork chunks were tender and well-marinated. The clams, unfortunately, were too small - this dish needs large clams to give the contrast with the pork. I left the choice of wines by the glass to our waiter and his two choices were "spot on". I'd go back to this one in a second, especially since they also got my gin martini just right - not always easy in French restaurants outside the U.S.

The best French restaurant in Montreal. The food, service and ambiance were all excellent. The real treat is the originality of the recipes. Not only is the food cooking top notch, but the wonderful, varied flavors of each dish transports one to heaven. The chef himself forages in the wild for a lot of the menu’s various seasonings, herbs and ingredients. It really pays off with incredible results.

For the last few years every time we visit Montreal we make sure to have dinner at Laloux. The service is outstanding with a focus on every little detail, including checking how long it would take for us to walk to our venue after dinner. The sommelier took a special interest in finding us the perfect wine for dinner. And when we asked for his advice on an upcoming meal we are making at home he brought over and opened a bottle of Riesling just for us to taste. The food was out of this world. Each plate had interesting components, including little delectables that the chef had foraged. The lobster and Foi Gras appetizers were delicious and plentiful. Veal sweetbreads were perfect. We may just move to Montreal so we can dine here every night!
