  • "Food, service, friendliness...a;; relaiable as usual; a pleasure to go back to each time; we know the food will be fresh and tasty in traditional as in new combinations. Never disappointed so far. Continue the good work"

  • "Absolutely delicious in EVERY way. We were graciously welcomed for a 6:30 seating and had the delightful benefit of conversation with our server and sommelier before many other guests arrived. From the refreshing oyster amuse bouche through black cod, quail and venison courses, the meal was a true crescendo of complexity and intensity. The cannoli with black sesame mousse topped off the extraordinary dining experience. I highly recommend the set menu, created and delivered with flair."

  • "My second visit to Laloux and most definitely won't be my last. Great choices from their 3 for $20 pre-theatre menu, to the general menu."

  • "Laloux has always been my favourite. I try to go there at least twice a year and have never ever been deceived. Food is great, one really feels there's a lot of hard work and professionalism in the kitchen. Service is top notch, very attentionate, professional, still friendly. Each and every time is a new experience. I've tried the cote de boeuf for two this time, and honestly, i've never eaten such delicious meat even at La Queue de Cheval. An absolute must!"

  • "Service was incredible! Everything thing else was real good but the service will make the experience. Can't beat an in house Sommelier."

  • "Again Laloux came through on a cold winter day. This is our almost annual pilgrimage to Laloux for a great lunch. We have dined there for diner and it is excellent, but we prefer the slower and quieter pace of lunch, with all the time in the world. This is the first time that we have been offered wine pairings during a lunch menu and it turned out to be an excellent idea, with imaginative choices."

  • "We have the tasting menu and wine pairing , The food was ok , a little to much different flavors who Poorly mix together. Service was terrible , no explanation Of the plate ,no explanation of the choice of wine pairing The bread and butter arrived at the second plate! Over all I do not think will go back , in a city like Montreal This was our first disappointment ."

  • "We very much enjoyed our dinner recently at Laloux. I rated it at 4 stars, only because we have had better dinners at 3 or 4 other restaurants in Montreal. Highly recommended, we will be back again!"

  • "It was our first time at Laloux and we were very happy with our experience. Food is outstanding, service is excellent. Ambience is modeled on a Paris bistro. Great combo for a great evening. Did not hesitate to reserve."

Bravo, continuez a bien faire votre metier !!"

  • "We were a group of 3. I got there early and sat at the bar. Great service and when it was time to transfer to the table they took my drink to the table. Very nice. The wine list is extensive and we were offered an Italian wine that was outstanding. Bravo. The food was perfect, presentation was outstanding and service impeccable. I will go back in a near future."

  • "Decor is like a bistro of Paris and service + food are similar. We like the place for decor and price is reasonable for quality of product they served. Wine list is large enought to accomodate all foodies. Wine by the glass is limited but you can ask if other wine are available and sometimes yes (ask sommelier)."

  • "Went to Laloux for the first time with my wife on Saturday for dinner. The food was first-rate and the service was even better (you gotta try the Mousse au chocolate for dessert!). Our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable and helped us select wines to go with our meals. We're definitely coming back."

  • "We were four diners, three generations, looking for a special evening out in Montréal. At Laloux, we found it. In the lower Plateau Mont-Royal, the restaurant is at the corner of a residential street. It's a beautiful, quietly elegant room with - heaven be praised - no piped-in music. Every staff member treated us as if our evening was their first concern. The waiter guided us through menu and wine list with knowledge and patience. The menu is French bistro with interesting departures. Meats and fish were beautiful cuts, impeccably prepared; seasonal vegetables received as much careful attention. Dessert was up to the level of the meal. A great experience from beginning to end."

  • "We were greeted warmly upon our arrival. It was immediately clear that our waitress was keen to make our meal an experience and not just dinner. When we were ready to order, we asked for wine recommendations to pair with our courses. She asked a couple questions to discern the type of wines we enjoyed then selected two for each course that she wanted us to taste before making our final selection. I cannot say how impressed we were with this small act. For her to recommend two very fine wines and then let us select between them was most unexpected and thoroughly delightful! From the oysters to the dessert the meal was a wonderful experience that we both enjoyed. The service provided by our waitress was impeccable. We will be returning."

  • "We hadn't been to Laloux for at least 10 years, and after reading great reviews, we tried to give it another try. To begin with, finding a parking spot was next to impossible, as it is all permit parking in the neighbourhood. We finally found a spot on St. Denis, about 6 blocks away. Upon entering the restaurant, we were surprised at how quiet it was (we had an 8 o'clock reservation). Our waitress told us that they had a theatre going rush earlier and were fully booked for the weekend. Nevertheless, the food was fantastic, and the service professional. We will be back."

  • "Excellent value for lunch. Lovely French bistro atmosphere....low noise level. It is so pleasant to hear be able to carry on a conversation at normal level while enjoying wonderful food. I have been going to Laloux for years and it has maintained high standards of food and service. I think it is my favorite Montreal restaurant."

  • "Typical french restaurant with an awesome service. It was excellent since our entrance, where they took our coats away till the end, when the dessert was simply outstanding. Typical french meals, but they deliver!"

  • "We went for MTL a Table. The appetizers were delicious, interesting, decent portion size. The main was too small. I had quail and it was a 1/4 bird - just a leg...far too small. For the price, it was somewhat understandable but wish they had rethought the main dish (maybe chicken) given that the whole meal was for $19. I had profiteroles for desert and the serving was large. They could have given 1 instead of 2. They were delicious, great textures. Would recommend this place but would suggest they do not order the quail or to expect a small main dish."

  • "I brought a date for dinner. Decor was simple and cozy. The corner seats were perfect for two lovebirds to enjoy a quiet dinner while you get lots of activity on the main floor. Food was exquisite, well portioned and very tasteful. Extensive wine list and the staff was friendly to explain and suggest good wines for our food. Sweetbreads are a must-try!"

  • "Laloux will go down in infamy for being the absolute best meal we've had in a restaurant. We came to Montreal for a few days to celebrate my husband's birthday. Laloux was our "splurge" meal, although the prices are actually pretty reasonable compared to DC. Especially when you see the quality of the ingredients, the presentation of the dishes, and the refined taste of each dish. We started with the foi gras and sea urchin mousse. Both were fantastic. The foi gras was served with fresh honeycomb. It was the best honey we've ever tasted! For dinner I had the arctic char, and the mister had hanger steak. Again both were so delicious. The meal was absolutely amazing. We loved Laloux!"

  • "We had terrine fois gras and salmon with beets for starters, and both were excellent. For the main course, we had tagliatelle with beef and duck maigret. They were good also, but not as tasty as the appetizers. The best part was the waitress. She was very pleasant with a nice smile the entire evening."

  • "Excellent restaurant. The foie gras appetizer was delicious as was the Wagyu beef filet. Service was attentive. The less formal side of the restaurant was less stuffy and more relaxed."

  • "We ate at the restaurant per TripAdvisor's recommendation and could not be more satisfied with the experience. The food is done in new french style, so the flavors are lighter and brighter. The urchin mousse with shrimp appetizer is by far one of the most amazing dish I have ever had (I live and eat nearly 90% of the time in NYC). The texture is light, the urchin flavor is delicately folded into the mousse, and the baby shrimp are sweetly accenting. The sweetbread was very well prepared (creamy, soft), unlike the ones I had at Vertige (dense, overcooked). The way the fall flavors are incorporated into the dishes (applies, pumpkin, squash) was simply amazing."
