LalouxThe meal was exceptional...The meal was exceptional... inventive and beautifully plated. I've been to this restaurant numerous times over the past 15 years and although the staff has surely changed years,it consistently shines. Beautiful atmosphere... upscale French bistro without the noise and frenetic buzz that often accompanies other restaurants in this category where the tables are inches apart.10/3/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic French CuisineI was in Montreal for the Grand Prix du Canada and tried two restaurants while there: Vallier and Laloux. Both were excellent.
Laloux has more classic French ambiance (think wall mirrors and white table linen), while Vallier has bare tabletops but a somewhat more creative menu. Laloux offered ramp vichysoisse, calve's liver a point, and soft Greek cheese with comb honey and nuts. Vallier offered green tomato gazpacho with horseradish, duck confit raviolis with pulled duck meat, mushrooms, cream and arugala and left me too full to order desert. The tab (before tax and tip) was about $65 at both places including two glasses of wine. I would be happy to return to either.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic neighbourhood bistroHigh ceilings and white table clothes create an inviting atmosphere. The food is very good as is the service.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingFood was exceptional, service impeccable. I can't believe this restaurant has been around 25 years and I have only now discovered it.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench successThe food was amazing, great tasting and very unique ! True capture of the french cuisine ! Recomended for sure !6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth every penny! Our very first visit to Montreal was memorable by three places: Notre Dame, St.Joseph's and LALOUX! The food was not only delicious but is at a different level. The scallop entree, the trout/shrimp appetizer and the citron tart are MUST haves. Having lived in New York, I've tried few good restaurants in NY but this certainly tops some of the great restaurants in NY. The creativity; the combination of flavors and texture; and the excellent service of the staff were absolutely impeccable. We would make sure to go back to Laloux on our next trip and feel you are missing out on living in Montreal if you haven't tried Laloux.!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favoriteEverything on the menu us outstanding
Service is outstanding
La cote de boeuf pour 2 is exceptional5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMTremendous foodIt's location is a bit out of the way, but the room is lovely, the service is attentive without being cloying, and the food is incredible. Had a lovely root vegetable soup, some of the best homemade blood sausage I've ever had, and some very well prepared salmon.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA restaurant that caresI suspect this is a restaurant where you can be sure you are going to get good food and service every time you go. The menu was just adventurous enough to be interesting.
My guests loved the pea soup. We tried the steak, the scallops and the pappardelle. All received thumbs up. One of my tests for a restaurant is the lemon tart - a ubiquitous Parisian dessert. The presentation of the lemon tart was spectacular. And it was delicious.
I hope to return to this restaurant on future visits to Montreal.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways enjoy the experienceAlways enjoy the experience as the food is very very good and the service exactly right-attentive but not over-bearing. It has become one of our favourites!2/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
