Diner Reviews
  • "Really like menu, service, and atmosphere. Unique for Cleveland area - French but not too expensive."

  • "When we arrived and gave them our name for a 7 o'clock reservation, they said we were down at 830. I offered to show the hostess my Open Table reservation confirmation, she said it wasn't necessary. We were then stick in a room in the back. The only other table got moved outside at their request. So it was just us in this plain room watching people at nice tables outside. Luckily, the good was great, but 0 ambience."

  • "We had a delicious dinner for 5 at l"Albatross before going to Severance. The food and service were outstanding. The cheeseboard selections were unusual and tasty."

  • "Excellent dining option with an outstanding menu. This restaurant appears to have gradually evolved from great to even greater. Wide selection where even the basic burger is just outstanding all the way to more sophisticated entree options."

  • "This was our third visit and we had a great dinner. This was our first chance to dine outside there and it was very enjoyable. Our dinners of Walleye and Lobster Quenelle and Hanger Steak and Pomme Firites were delicious. We will return."

  • "WOW! What a great evening on the patio. Great food (blue bass) and outstanding service. all made for a very special night."

  • "Very friendly and accommodating hostess. Impressive knowledge of menu (and ingredients) by the head waiter. Food was excellently prepared and displayed. The service was almost too good with constant refilling of water and bread. We were looking for a special place to take some special guests, and we found it."

  • "We have been to L'Albatros twice now, and each time the food has been amazing. We had a cheese plate appetizer as well as the Foie Gras special. My wife had the Boeuf Bourguignon, I had the pork two ways, and the 3 other in our party had the Cassoulet. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed all the food. The service was top notch and very knowledgable. The prices are very affordable for the quality of food as well."

  • "Dined with bf who was from out of town. We had been there before and enjoyed it. This time it was very different. Got sat in a table for two in the corner. It was a rainy night and they had the air on blast. I froze the entire time. The hostess brought me a chefs jacket but it didn't help much because we were sat directly under the air conditioner. We asked pretty much everyone we saw if they could turn the air down...never did. Re the food, waitress had no energy and couldn't hear well. Bf had to repeat his orders several times. Had the escargot and chopped salad for appetizer...just ok. My entree was too salty and not tasty. Waitress put it in a to go box that wasn't sturdy and it leaked all over my car seat and clothes."

  • "Enjoyed 3/4 of the courses. Foie Gras and anchovie-watercress was amazing. My yellow tail was severely overdone which held back my rating. They featured too many corn infused dishes. The service was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. We loved the neighborhood it is nestled in. The ambiance is spot on for two person occasion."

  • "Really enjoyed being outside dining on a lovely evening. The patio area was lively, but not too loud."

  • "Had a nice evening with an old friend ! Great meal and service, sat at table in a corner area. Could easily converse and not rushed . Will definitely return and perhaps sit on patio ."

  • "Was a first time visitor to Cleveland and happened across this restaurant. We had one of our best meals ever and we are serious foodies. The staff was very knowledgeable about the food preparations and showed the perfect amount of attention. Even the by the glass wine list was extensive. Order the cheese plate. He comes by your table with a tray of 15-20 cheeses and knows all about everyone of them. My husband had the fish special which was not only a beautiful presentation but the flavor was heavenly. I ordered the veal short rib which was served minus the bone with a beautifully cooked earthy wild mushroom risotto. Probably the most delicious veal dish I have ever eaten. If in Cleveland make a reservation. You will be glad you did."

  • "This is the nicest outdoor dining in greater Cleveland. The service is impeccable. The menu is diverse and well executed. A model for a superior restaurant."

  • "We tried the charcuterie plate -- could have been a meal in itself. Seafood was perfectly cooked and the accompaniments are very interesting. Service was excellent. Another waiter came to give us the evening's special when our waiter was busy at another table. We will definitely go back."

  • "Everything from drinks beforehand to the servic was outstanding. I highly recommend the escargots and the bouillabaisse. Both were phenomenal."

  • "We had a very nice reunion with people we met in Italy. Since we had all been cooking Italian since our return it was time for a change. We each ordered different dishes and all were pleased with their selection."

  • "I had previously reviewed on yelp. I had liked the place very much at that time. We went for lunch unlike our previous visits. I wanted to try something different so I ordered the chicken confit pizza . The chicken confit pizza which I had ordered was burned and it was pretty bad. I was not sure if I came to the same place as before. The food was mediocre. I didn't have room for deserts this time but the cappuccino I had ordered was no way close to one sadly. Over all, we all didn't enjoy it this time. Still, I will try again since I have been there many times and I have always liked the place . But if the food continues to be mediocre I wouldn't recommend at all."

  • "We visited three restaurants in Cleveland during our stay. All were very good but L'Albatros was by far the best. Very tasty food and well presented. The deserts were excellent too. If I were to visit Cleveland again, I would definitely stop by L'Albatros for dinner."

  • "Our second visit, lived up to the mythical 1st visit. Dining outdoors was divine before the Bruno Mars concert. Our fussy friends from Canton totally impressed!"
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Get the cheese plate and let the fromagiere recommend something for you. The duck confit and veal short rib were amazing. Our server recommended a great bourdeaux and this was our first time sitting on the patio, which we loved and highly recommend. L'albatros never disappoints."

  • "The meal was wonderful ... I had the brown-buttered skate, which was cooked to perfection. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu, I saw delicious looking dishes being served all around me, all looked scrumptious."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Even with food intolerances, I was able to adapt dishes (with the help of a knowledgeable server and cooperative kitchen) and enjoy a wonderful dinner with my husband one evening. Since he has no intolerances (and loves just about every food), he was thrilled with the creative and delicious dishes from which he could choose. A great wine list, at a variety of price points, was a bonus. The crowd ranged from a guy in a biking shirt, a family in suits and blinged out dresses, a mom and daughter who looked like they were regulars just finishing out the work week, and about a hundred other people enjoy dining both inside and out. Reservations are strongly suggested as diners seemed to cycle in and out with few empty spots remaining."

  • "One of Zach Bruell's best. My second favorite after Parallax."

  • "We really enjoyed our meal and the service. Everything went well, but we all noticed the chairs weren't the most comfortable. However, we're looking forward to spending another night there."

  • "In the summer there are allot of symphony events and many come for dinner beforehand. Various areas to choose from for dining. In good weather, outdoors is very nice. Service very good and waiter knowledgeable. Unique location may be difficult to locate on side alley (it was a carriage house...don't be turned off by "alley". It is fine."

  • "I am a foodie, physician, and I travel the US and world for food. I brought my father here as he is the same for my graduation dinner. This was THE most disappointing meal I've had in cleveland to date. The pate was dry and the worst my father has ever had. We told the waiter it was horrible. His eyes got big and he had nothing to say. No "sorry i'll get you something else." nothing. he took the plate and left without a word. The escargot was phenominal but was the only great dish of the 6 we ordered. The rest were subpar. I will never go here again nor recommend eating here. The bar was great and the bar tenders here are great. go to the bar. I had scallops - great scallops but the dish was underflavored, bland, soupy. ugh."
