Don't get me wrong, Lala Rokh is by far one of the best restaurants I've been in Boston and never had a disappointing meal. It just happens that I had a bad grape in the bunch, i.e. our waiter. I do not know if our waiter was new or was just his attitude towards us but I was not really pleased by his service. I would have given a 'Fair' rating if it wasn't for the over the phone assistance I received prior to the event. It was a birthday party for my girlfriend and they were very accommodating to our part size (10) and special requests. But we went for a friends birthday and even though we specified that it was his birthday, they did absolutely nothing. Also, our waiter was a bit rude and condescending. It's a classy restaurant full of adults and they seemed a bit unwelcoming to our group of 7 teens. We were looking for a place with good, interesting food with a beautiful and quiet ambiance where we could talk and catch up...This place was perfect. The flavors in our dishes were delicate and delicious. The service was attentive without being interruptive and restaurant had a soft and cozy ambiance. Our friends loved it. We were seated immediately. Our waiter was wonderful.....stayed close but didn't hover and answered all of our questions about the menu. We both like lamb and he made some wonderful suggestions. I may be old but sometimes it is too loud! My second time there, and since I love lamb-- I love this place! Food is well prepared; rice is perfectly cooked with a nutty dry texture and lamb was tender to the bone and perfectly seasoned.
