For dessert we had strawberry shortcake - very happy with our meals! A lot of wine choices & a full bar...no cider beer though, only tiny complaint. Hope to go back!"

  • "We chose a weekend getaway to the Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant based on a favorable on line review. We found the review to be spot on. The hotel was small and charming and we found the restaurant to be spectacular. The menu is not vast but covers all the category basics and is based on a local farm to table philosophy. We dined there on two consecutive nights and both meals were excellent. The fist night my wife had blackend Drum and I had seared scallops. Both dishes were served with very creative side dishes prepared using local mixed greens. The second evening I ordered a slow cooked pork shoulder served over local sun chokes and my wife chose shrimp and grits. Our desert was a very rich buttermilk pie. A great experience!"

  • "If you're not from the area (Me and my date were visiting Helen,GA) for the weekend. Then the drive up the mountain could be quite the adventure. The food was amazing. Service was the best ever. Quality iof the food was by far best. Portions could be a little larger though. But the manager greeting us kindly. Servers kept checking on us. How was food. Even the manager stepped over a few times to check. The valentines day special menu and deserts are the best! Chef came out at the end of the night and asked us about our food and told us about the dishes we had and why he added specific ingredients. I would recommend this place to anyone!"

  • "We have eaten at LRH 2x for Valentines Day. The previous year was wonderful, this year was just ok. We waited over 10 minutes to be greated and the service was average. The limited menu wasn't as good and didn't have as much of a variety as the menu the previous time and no substitutions were allowed. Just seemed a bit unorganized and unprepared for the busy day. I will try it again when it's not a holiday."

  • "The fish special my husband had was out of this world! I ordered the filet as we like to share. Too bad I didn't order the fish as that was all we both ate! Filet was not bad, but nothing special. The mash potatoes tasted like they came out of a box with lots of water added to them, could not eat them. We have had several really good meals here and will continue to go, but will lean more towards the specials rather than the steak..."

This time I had shrimp and grits and a wonderful green salad with cranberries, pickled ginger, walnuts and baby lettuces with a deliciously light dressing. My friends had one of the breakfast dishes and raved about both. My husband had the waffle and fried chicken. We all agreed we would return even though we live over an hour away."

Brunch entrees like crab Oscar are luscious, and fried chicken and waffles a delicious classic...share an appetizer and leave room for dessert - everything's fabulous! Food is locally sourced whenever possible, Chef Jamie has a light and deft hand, and his presentation is creative and delightful. The service is friendly, respectful and efficient. The ambience is dress-casual and comfortable. Prices are not "cheap" but are certainly reasonable, and the portions are ample. I would recommend the Lake Rabun Hotel for family occasions and that special romantic dinner, even as a weekend retreat for two in the gorgeous N. Georgia mountains. It's a lovely experience."

Food quality is what I look for first--everything else is icing on the cake.This food was top of the line quality and the preparation was what made it outstanding! all locally grown and produced cannot be beat. My only downside was the overall atmosphere ( it was fine mind you), the tables were a liitle too close together for intimacy but not a big deal. My overall rating was top notch!!"

Buffets are usually ho hum and very difficult to pull off with any level of quality. Well, these folks did it and are definitely worth the fives star recommendation. We will definitely visit again to sample the regular menu."

  • "This was our first visit to Lake Rabun Hotel for the Thanksgiving buffet. The area around the lake is lovely and the hotel is just flat out charming. The food was as good as some of the better restaurants we have here in the Atlanta area. If there was a negative, we would mention that there was an air of aloofness among the staff overall. My husband even overheard one of the servers complaining that "it was going to be a loooonnng day". Overall however, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would not hesitate to return. Thanks again for a lovely day."

  • "The meal and the building were beyond spectacular! We had 4 entrees. WOW! The building was all old oak, cedar, and pine on the inside. Rough cedar logs, Old time large stone fireplace in the lobby. Fire going, warm! Cozy bar. The outside was all stone pathways around the tall pines, with cedar log posts and hand railings. All lit with subdued pathway lighting. As you looked at the building from the outside, you see a yellow glow out of all the windows through the pines. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!"

  • "Beautiful,quaint inn close to Atlanta but far away feeling. You enter through a beautiful mountain garden with a small waterfall. The ambience is warm and rustic. The food is such a surprise in this out of the way location. Everything is carefully prepared for optimum taste. I had Quiche which was light fluffy and melt in my mouth. It included a nice small salad, wonderful squash medley and a wonderful yogurt parfait. Really too much food but I managed to eat most because it was all so good. My friends had crab cakes and the country ham eggs Benedict . They also loved their choices. Waitress was helpful on choices and attentive . You really can't go wrong with the food and beauty of this lovely place."
