The setting was excellent as was the food. All four generations in attendance had a good time and all enjoyed the experience. We had the Special Steak Diane. It was perfectly done, melt in your mouth tender and good tasting. A real treat!
The service was excellent as always. We also tried a puff pastry with chocolate mousse, pecans and chocolate sauce. Wonderful!

As retirees, we looked forward to seeing each other and reminesing about past experiences working together. One came from Hudson, WI, one came from S Minneapolis, one came from New Hope and 2 came from Wyoming, MN. Lake Elmo Inn was a good rendezvous point. 2 persons got delayed and did not join us until 45 min. had past. In spite of the delay, the wait person was very patient and accommodating.
Once everyone was together, we were treated to a fine meal with great atmosphere. We were able to visit and share for 2 almost hours without being rushed. Two of my friends joined me for an early dinner last Monday evening.
On Mondays, Senior citizens receive 25% off of their check before 5 pm. I had the large broiled shrimp with asparagus along with a salad.
Shrimp tasted delicious with drawn butter, asparagus was done perfectly. We were given a small cone sorbet before our entre and chocolate covered strawberries after dinner. A nice warm towel was presented to us to cleanse our hands as our meal ended.
These small courtesies are what makes the Elmo so quaint and special. Judy our server was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient. I'm glad we have this "gem" to experience what dinner out should be.

I have not been pleased with the veggies that come with the meal - used to come to Lake Elmo Inn esp. for the vegetable medley - squash, carrots, pea pods, etc. I didn't care for my wild rice on Sat. 4/27 also because it was way too salty. My husband did have the potatoes au gratin - they were yummy and he had the special halibut and it was excellent. These are just some of my suggestions, however, I love coming to Lake Elmo Inn! This most recent visit to celebrate our sixth anniversary. The food is excellent and priced appropriately for the type of fine dining they offer. The lemon sorbet to cleanse the pallet between courses, the chocolate covered strawberry at the end of the meal and the warm spice scented "clean up" towel at the end of the meal make the whole meal an experience. My husband remarked to me after our visit "That's it - we are never eating steak at home or anywhere but here ever again!" Servers kept the champagne flowing throughout the meal, which I appreciated very much. Seating was comfortable and had an elegant feel. The kids were afoot and loud, and the lines of people didn't move real fast. Once I could fill my plate and take refuge at my table, all the chaos was forgotten.
