I have been there several times in the past year. The experience and food has always been terrific. Service has been exemplary. This was not true for this experience. We were celebrating a birthday and the service was bad, inattentive, slow, and required several reminders to get the basic service. Food came cool and not as fresh as their standard fare. The waitress told me the birthday person and table would get complimentary champagne and brthday dessert for the birthday person. We got neither! All around this was not anywhere near prior experience level. A big disappointment this time. I will be back but the shine was taken off the penny with this trip.

Upon arriving at 7:50pm for our 8:00pm reservation, we were greeted and immediately seated. Our server greeted us in a timely fashion and acknowledged our special occasion (anniversary) per the info on my reservation. Nice - complementary champagne, sorbet palette cleanser, hot towels at the end. The beet/goat cheese salad was spectacular, the Caesar salad was good, but overpriced at 9.95. Our entrees, the Tournedos and the Prairie Home Companion - were both prepared as requested and flavors were amazing, especially the mustard crusted Lamb Chop on the PHC platter. Service - slower than expected, and server was forgetful on several occasions. Overall - very satisfying experience, but a little less wow factor than expected for the price

We were treated to a complimentary glass of Champagne as we were seated. Everyone was very friendly. Our server was very nice and was able to help me with a nice selection of Raw Oysters. The meal was delicious and our steaks where perfectly grilled and hot when served. We had 4 courses and were never made to feel rushed. Our evening ended with Chocolate covered Strawberries and another complimentary glass of Champagne. It was more than "dinner out" it was a wonderful evening. We will attend the Sunday Brunch in the near future!

Many nice features at this restaurant, and the food was quite good. But with all of the doors open, we found ourselves swatting bugs a lot. And our entrees took a long time to arrive. But our server was pleasant and attentive. My wife also very much appreciated the gluten-free menu. The sorbet is a nice touch. Overall, an up/down review but we all decided we would go back for the food.

Our new weekly destination for a relaxing brunch. Quaint décor, white tablecloths, and beautiful outside patio area. To-die-for mini caramel rolls delivered warm when we were seated. I prefer the cold serving station offerings: awesome smoked salmon, unique salads, beautiful fruit and cheese trays. My husband enjoys the hot serving station as well: French toast, eggs benedict, a starch, ham, brisket, etc. He declared the sausage "not to his liking at all" though. The food and dessert options seem endless - just like the endless champagne refills. This is the brunch to beat! We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next weekend and are going again this coming weekend.

We waited a long time for our meals; not something we are used to when we eat here. When our meals arrived, the baked potatoes were not done & the broccoli was cold. The prime rib and fish were very good. Our roll basket was empty early on and we had to request more rolls. The waitress was friendly. Our reservations were for 6PM, however we arrived about 5:45. We were seated right away and saw that there were only 4 other tables where patrons were sitting. While we waited for our food, several more tables filled and it seemed like our food took longer to arrive than those who were seated around us. We've always had extremely good food and good service, so I'm not sure what happened that night as we spend 2 hours there.

Lake Elmo's prime rib is our standard by which we measure all other prime rib everywhere! We've only found one other place as good - and it wasn't on the US mainland. The pre-main entrée pallet-cleansing sorbet, the complimentary after-dinner huge chocolate-covered strawberry and the hot, cinnamon scented hand towels makes the Inn so very special EVERY time we dine there.

Small enough to have enjoyable conversations without needing to raise our voices. We all had different entrees, from steaks to fish to pork, and all were excellent. I started a new job 3 months ago. My department is small with only 3 people. Since the turnover, my manager says he has never felt so confident about his department. He also said it's been a long time since he felt so enthusiastic about the future. We wanted to celebrate an outstanding month. He had never been to Lake Elmo Inn, and I suggested it. It was wonderful! A beautiful day to sit in the gazebo next to the garden. He has been talking about it ever since and has thanked ME for introducing him to a place he plans to bring his wife on a special occasion! I am pleased that he was impressed.

The entire experience was great, except for one exception. I did not get the wild rice I ordered, however, I ate half of the baked potato before I realized. No big deal. I had the daily special, a steak that was worth twice the money! They gave us free champagne for our anniversary and the deserts were especially yummy.

We came in for our anniversary dinner and had a very enjoyable evening! The enclosed patio where we sat is lovely. The pear and goat cheese on crostini appetizer was amazing and both our steak entrees (steak tournedoes topped with bearnaise and shrimp and the sliced sirloin with the mushroom jus lie) were perfectly done and delicious. Both paired with the very reasonably priced and delightful Charles & Charles Cab/Syrah. Then, to top it off, our waiter found out we were celebrating (we hadn't thought to mention it until we were complimenting the meal at the end) and brought us two champagnes and chocolate-covered strawberries. It was the perfect end to the meal and we were still talking about how much we enjoyed it the next day.

I as very disappointed in the food, service. We started out with the Lobster Bisque which was wonderful! Then wen we got the bill it was an add on and not included with the entree and was 9.50 per cup! We did not know this when we ordered. When our food came it was luke warm, my potatoes were dry and overcooked and felt like they had been sitting quite some time. The waitress noticed they looked dry and brought out some extra sauce that was supposed to be on them. My husband had the Walleye and said it was just OK. His pasta was cold and stuck together. The waitress came back a few times but service was pretty slow. This was our 32nd anniversary dinner and very unhappy overall. Not worth $106 without alcoholic beverage or dessert!

Went to Lake Elmo Inn for my mothers 93rd birthday. There were four of us. Friendly waitress but she was very slow. Too many tables? We waited a long time for just about everything and were there for 2 1/2 hours. Didn't mind too much due to celebrating birthday. Food was hit and miss. All appetizers, salads, and soups were excellent. I had the bone-in ribeye. Cooked perfectly (rare plus) tender and tasty. Wife had the Sunnies. Tasted more like potato pancakes then fish. Sister had the scallops. There were small pieces of shell or something in them. Returned for shrimp which was excellent. (They did not charge for her meal). My mother had the walleye which was very good. Desserts were good along with free champagne. May or may not return.

Not cheap but an incredible value for the price. This restaurant delivers. The food was perfect and the service was excellent. Server knew her wine which was a great plus and the wine list is extensive and the more expensive selections are definitely geared toward the discerning palate. We didn't do it but we understand you can bring your own wine if it isn't on their list. $15 corkage fee applies. Highly recommended. We are going back again.
