Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoyed our evening from start to finish, excellent wine to warm up the palette and nice conversation and then wow, our first course the Chili Rellano, beautifully presented in a warm tomato sauce, dressed with nuts and guacamole and a few tortilla strips. Would love the recipe! Then came the mouth watering Mahi Mahi with mashed potatoes and a very nice butter sauce. Couldn't stop there had to try the Kauai Pie, best dessert all week. Thank you for a great dinner experience, we will be back."

  • "I am so glad that we went there versus Ruth's. Absolutely delicious food and excellent service! This place and Gerard's across the street were our two favourite places on Maui!"

  • "We traveled about 45 minutes to the restaurant and arrived at 8:30 PM. The place was hopping and both dining rooms and the bar were going strong. We started out with two appetizers, the lobster crab cake and the spring rolls. The lobster crab cake came as a giant ball and easily fed two people. The filling was smooth but clearly tasted of lobster. A very nice dish. There were three spring rolls which were nothing special. I then had the corn chowder. which was delicious. My wife had the beet salad which was also delicious. We both had fish for our mains, she had the Opacopacka and I the Mahi Mahi, both great. If you ever get to Maui, take the ride to the Lahaina Grill, it is definitely worth the trip."

  • "We ordered the short ribs and grilled salmon. Both were fantastic. The ribs were my favorite. Salvador was our waiter and he was excellent. The service and timing of food delivery were very good. An upscale restaurant for a reasonable price. Then we ordered dessert. We had the triple berry pie. Wow! This was perfect. Homemade with fresh pastry crust and little pieces of sugar. I want to go back just writing this review!"

  • "We had a fabulous dinner for my wife's birthday. The Filet Mignon was the most tender, flavorful she has had in many years. The huge pork chop (over 2" thick) was enjoyed by two diners at the table. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and attentive. The wine list is quite impressive for Maui. It has a great selection of Pinot Noir, my favorite. The Hostess even put a chair out in the street to save a parking spot for me when I had to move my car. (the desserts are great as well, try the road to Hana chocolate dessert of the triple berry pie, both very delicious!)."

  • "This is our favorite Maui fine dining restaurant, and they didn't let us down this time. Food excellent, great menu and fabulous service as well. While pricey, this is a meal worth the price! Bravo, Lahaina Grill."

  • "The food rivals many of the great restaurants in San Francisco. Ask for Richard. He is an excellent server and made it a special evening."

  • "The food was excellent. Our server was on top of things and was very knowledgable. He answered all of our questions without hesitation. At times this restaurant was a little loud but not terrible. The main thing was the food and wine selection was great."

  • "We celebrated my son's 21st birthday at the Lahaina Grill and from our arrival to coffee and dessert, it was a truly superb dining experience. The warm, attentive staff and the incredible food made for a truly memorable evening. We'll be back again soon!"

  • "This is a very mixed review. We were very impressed with the décor and ambience of this restaurant and the food was very good with the exception of finding a bay leaf in the onion soup. This seemed to be a huge upset for our waiter who then forgot that we were there to celebrate my husband's birthday which was disappointing. We did, however, get a complimentary dessert and the chef's apologies for the bay leaf. Another low spot of the evening was our waiter's 'assistant' who commented on our empty plates when he came to clear the table. So, a very nice venue a good menu and good food but obviously some more training of the kitchen staff and wait staff is needed. We did receive apologies from our waiter, the maître d and the owner."

  • "The food was good. Had the Waygu ravioli, crab salad (okay, kinda salty) oso bucco, lobster tail, side of Foie gras. Not really into truffle and many items have truffle. The sauce for the ravioli was good. My favorite item was the herb butter they serve with the bread. Lol yum!"

  • "Consistently the best! High quality food, cooked perfectly. The ambience, the location, the service... No ka'oi. Amilcar is such a great waiter. It's a busy place, but a meal here is very relaxing. We had the ahi, and it was incredible. The mahi was delicious - so fresh and tender."

  • "Beautiful view of Lahani Harbour with a dinner that exceeded expectations for our 30th Wedding anniversary. The menu is unusually varied, yet complete with a variety of selections for all tastes. Expertly prepared and presented in a timely manner by an excellent wait staff--and the drinks were also excellent! This is a dining experience that will definitely be at the top of our list for every Maui visit!"

  • "We had the crab cake, scallops and mud pie (I think they call is Kauai pie). Every morsel was incredible. My husband is not so adventurous and could not believe the flavours either. Worth every penny."

  • "Second time here. First time was 5 years ago on our 20th Anniversary. This visit was just as good as we remembered. Maybe even better. Service was wonderful, food was excellent, atmosphere was memorable and romantic. Definitely recommend and look forward to visiting again."

  • "After a few days in the Lahaina/Ka'anapali area, we were craving real food (not fried, real vegetables, not too starchy). We got polenta stack, mahi mahi, beet salad, and dessert sampler. Everything was good, really good after all of the sub par hotel food we'd had, but honestly, this place is grossly overpriced. We've had better dinners in SF, LA, and Napa for far cheaper, but if you want good food while you're in the Lahaina area, this is the place to go."

  • "Good oysters, the cake walk and tomato salad were yummy too. The best was the creme brulee. Rushed service is not appreciated. Again, at $200 a dinner we don't want to eat and leave in an hour."

  • "We booked our 30th anniversary dinner at the restaurant. The day ended out being extra specail because our son coincidentally proposed to his girlfriend of 9 years earlier that day. Off to Lahaina Grill we happily went. Two hours later we left disapointed in our steaks that were ordered medium rare, but can out well done and by the poor service by our server. When she asked how everything was, we showed her the steaks. She said "sorry, looks like two of them were way overcooked". That was it! As for maybe providing us with a complimentary dessert for the special occasion....Nothing. That's shocking considering each hotel in the area is given hundreds of free dessert cards to distribute each week. Good place, but a letdown to us."

  • "Our first visit proved to be an amazingly delicious experience. The polenta was outstanding. Others in my party loved all of their dishes. Classic elegance and highly recommended"

  • "My husband and I had dinner the other evening and it was amazing. He had the meatballs and I had the Ahi Tuna, both were outstanding. Our waiter was Michael, he suggested a reasonable bottle of Pinot that was really great. It was a wonderful evening."

  • "Food was excellent probably the best on maui and wine prices were actually fair. Food prices were very pricey. Also the restaurant was over air conditioned."

  • "We picked Lahina Grill for our annv. dinner. It was great! Food was delicious and creatively prepared, although with ample per serving. Service was top notch. They took our picture since it was a special occasion and e-mailed it to us the next day. It's not an inexpensive meal, but it's ok when you feel it was worth the cost. My only complaint (if really even a complaint) was the tables for were a bit close for my taste. Otherwise, a fabulous dinner! Highly recommend stopping here while you visit Maui!! "

  • "Lahina Grill is an oasis of tasty, well presented mesls amid a desert of tourist trap mediocre food. Service is top notch also. Wish owners would open a "wailea grill". "

  • "The caprese salad and veal chop with truffle Risotto will change your life. Ate here twice on our honeymoon and was better than mamas fish house, same high prices though. In fact we delayed our flight so we could eat here one more time! "

  • "After reading multiple positive reviews, I fully expected better. I had the wagyu ravioli, which was just fine. I ordered the NY strip - after 9 days of eating basically nothing but fish - and it was so fatty. I asked for it medium but was overcooked. For all the hype, I was disappointed. "

  • "Restaurant is pretty and welcoming -- but menu prices are anything but! The meal was good, but not outstanding by any means, and the dishes were outrageously expensive. Entrees in the $40+ range for chicken, scallops (and the steak special was almost twice that - wow). The Cake Walk is the 'signature' appetizer, and portions are beautiful but tiny, and tasted nearly indistinguishable between the 3 little cakes. Crab salad was much better: big chunks of tasty crab meat. Service was good, with a couple of disappointments (we accepted the offer for more bread but it never came; we were promised a picture of the birthday candle blowing-out and that never came, either...)."
